  • Thiss iss ssoo fagalissiouss!

  • They were namedropping Roman Coppola? That's like bragging about working with Steve Kubrick or Carl Speilberg.

  • lol are those real people?

  • It has actually been proven that dogs can be trained to smell certain types of cancer in a very early stage already.

  • HAHAHA! Iv'e got a 10 feet pole in my pocket!

  • The watergun could be fun. C:

But the idea of using it to put out fires in bookstores and libraries is a really good idea.

  • "these guys are definitely gay with each other "

    That would be cute.

  • brilliant

  • they were lame -- really sub par for TED -- the products were great but their ideas were lame

  • sorry you weren't entertained. ted should try harder for your sake.

    Ass. think less selfishly.

  • Who said anything about being entertained and how is being critical akin to thinking selfishly? Selfish would have been to say nothing. Instead I took my time and commented. I think the overwhelming majority of of TED stuff is inspiring and mindblowing -- but not this one. So I said "really sub par for TED"

maybe you like giving ribbons only for participation, but I think excellence still has a place.

  • What was the punchline? Hydrophobic string?

  • hey does someone know what the fluid is called that they used in the water pistols?

  • 3M Fluorinert

  • thanks. oh shit it's 100$/kg.

  • great idea, ingenious use of application of new technology but wow, they need to practice their material and maybe take some public speaking classes, i felt like i was in 7th grade all over again and watching 2 nervous guys speak.

  • my thoughts exactly

  • His lisp is extremely distracting.

  • HI!!!

    Im the new milk..

    12:35

  • What the F is in the middle picture

    at 14:06 ???? Yikes!

  • Right lung.

  • oh that's a lung

  • playful inventions but nothing new that present-day technology does not fulfill; this 'new stuff' fits into dorky 'gadgetry' that infomercials, (generally speaking) men & commercialism will love- quite useless...; I hope that this develops and something truly innovative comes from it (beyond an initial two-second amusement); there is nothing in the video that shows otherwise...

  • yep true but it's still fun. it'S true we should be looking for sustainable technologies or a cure for cancer, but this is important and great too!!

  • Who makes the 10 foot pole that fits in your pocket? I heard one of those 2 call them "the vendor"... i hope it's not that exclusive

  • ...Why is every other Keith I've ever heard of a complete moron or geek? Am I doomed too?

  • The items presented were fantastic, and overall I liked the video, but these two guys were the worst orators to ever be on TED's stage. :/

  • What was the story about hair? That guy slurs or something and I couldn't tell what he was saying.

  • u'd slide right off that board through the aluminium tube

  • Neat talk but how come those boys dont realize that every single 'invention' using the gel magnets, can also be done using current solid magnets, possibly protected by a thin rubber coating.

  • most interesting video i've seen in ages. x

  • Okay.

  • What a fun presentation :)

  • I like the pole. I think Monkey Magic already invented that one though.

  • holy cow these guys have no clue what is going on. "The greater the speed of the magnet, the greater the stopping force." Acting like it is some big deal.....not really, Newton has been around for a long time.

  • It's probably inducing currents in the metal which resist the passage of the magnet. It's not "normal" friction.

  • Yup it happens when the magnet interacts with a non-ferrous metal. It is not attracted to the metal, but it still interacts, causing a kind of friction, but the two dont have to be touching.

I have a powerful magnet and an aluminum frying pan, and Ive tried this and its a very neat effect. If you move the magnet very slowly across the frying pan nothing happens, but if you move it quickly the magnet feels heavy as if youre dragging it through syrup. The faster you go the thicker the syrup.

  • Ok. Lame. Use regular magnets.....and pad them.

  • Thats my thought exactly.

  • cool stuff, but the ideas were not too good (except the colour changing disease detector) and their presentation was just too stiff.
