  • this is the elevator music at Bioware.

  • You are not Saren.

  • While standing in front of the gates of hell, flashbacks echoing in my mind of the sins i have committed in the past, this song will be playing...

  • Wow i know the reapers arent real but i think what if there is a race like that out there and just let us exsist because they can kinda makes me feel small in comparison makes earth seem trivial really

  • @DmkRobert Actually they do exist and their name is animus, from the wingmakers.

  • This music = Resistance is futile, abandon all hope etc. etc.

  • 6 people are corrupted by dark samus or Sovereign

  • this theme give me a feeling like i have the power or sometihng like that

  • that theme is scary and so good

  • "Your words are as empty as your future. I am The Vanguard of Your Destruction. This exchange os over..."

  • @SonsOfHateSphere

Mass Effect Fan you have changed nothing.

  • First part sounds like the godfather theme bit.

  • After this video go watch The main theme of Dune, you'll see.

  • @dEsSiCaTa What the fuck.

  • @dEsSiCaTa Woah...

  • @dEsSiCaTa what's your point?

  • When this music starts, and i see those stars and planets in the picture.. I just wanna go out and discover some galactic mystery or unlock some outer space secrets.. This game and It's beautiful music have even inspired me to love physics (cuz im really interested in space and space exploration) and helped me understand space better, THANK YOU MASS EFFECT!!!

  • @dawsonoo7 THIS is the most annoying conversation in the whole game/s... would like to kick them... in the face... with a chair...

  • This video exist because we allow it. And it won't end because we demand it.

  • Sovereign is still the only fictional character that has made my life feel insignificant

  • I'm going to make him an offer he cant refuse.. Sovereign theme is the godfather in about a few thousand years or so.. lol

  • @BigMisterApple Don Reaper, lol. xD

  • i imagine playing this during the epilogue of the ME: Revelation book

  • This should be the Reapers theme.

  • @deathrooster14 this *is* the Reapers theme.

  • 6 people dismissed that claim

If there was comment like this then sorry-I don't remember

  • 6 people dismissed that claim

  • i want this to play as i walk past people in the street

  • One Reaper. Sovereign went almost the entire battle without bothering to attack the fleet at all. Humankind and the Citadel forces simply didn't matter to it.

When it did strike back, in a small handful of moments it littered the space around it with the wreckage of those who attacked it.

Sovereign wasn't hurt at all until you destroyed the Saren-Husk that he had placed his mind into. If he hadn't ASSUMED DIRECT CONTROL, he would have won.

And that was just 1 Reaper.

    Thank God for Shepard

  • @OrionoftheStar

Balderdash. We all know the Turian Councillor would've pwned that silly little Kraken with a deluded speech in no time.

  • Sovereign was one of the greatest villains in videogame hist-

*ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL OF THIS FORM*

  • I miss Sovreign's voice in this bit, it kinda goes with the music.

  • Reapers are da Baus, I wonder if we get to have more conversations with them in ME3?

  • Sovereign: Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance.

    Disliker: SHIT!

  • 6 people don't believe in the Reapers.

  • @Pir4te47

The Turian Councillor has six YouTube accounts.

  • @Anthropyification ah.... the council.... we have dismissed that claim

  • I was ready to face Saren, yet I stumble upon a ship that turns out to be not only an actual reaper, but also has a way with words. His lines are just plain epic. I felt fear throughout the whole scene.

  • Great ... very threatening.

  • This song plays (if you kill the council) when Udina is making his little speech and the end.

You don't get this in the paragon ending when you save the council though.

  • imperial march is for pussies this is the real thing

  • Soverign is a boss

  • You exist because we allow it.

And you will end because we demand it.

  • Sovereign : "Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touched my (ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!) tra-la-la. My ding-ding-dong!

  • @hepilica insignificant comment re-posting insect

  • @hepilica Totally laughed my ass off when saw that music video!

  • wouldnt this be a bad ass elevator music.....people would be like ''where the fuck am i going ?!?''

  • @pkerch00b1 This is what plays in the elevators inside Sovereign as Saren goes around.

  • @pkerch00b1 thank you for making me chuckle

  • @pkerch00b1 scariest elevator ever.

  • @pkerch00b1 I'd be fine as long as Garrus and Wrex were with me. They have great elevator conversations.

  • @pkerch00b1 When I become an evil millionaire, this shall play throughout my elevators and corridors so that my minions will quake in subservience and my visitors/enemies shall tremble in fear. The Illusive Man's music will be playing in my office naturally.

  • @pkerch00b1 "HEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!"

    ...Imagine hearing that over loudspeakers.

    In Sovereign's voice.

  • @Wolfsrain90 well the first thing i would do is squeez the but of the girl thats standing next to me XD, het we are going to hell any way

  • @pkerch00b1 hell. hell is where theyd be going. because we demand it.

  • @pkerch00b1 ... to hell XD

  • Sovereign... I don't know what it was about him but when he said; "We have no beginning... We have no End... We simply... Are..." It gave me goose bumps.

  • Embrace enternety

  • @miko131293 Embrace INTERNET!

  • pressing the like button... is inevitable.

  • I love Sovereign... respect !!!! I think the reapers are cool... but I will die to protect Earth and all organic life !!!

  • YOU ARE NOT SA-ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL

  • When i make my first billion and buy a skyscraper, I'm gonna put this in the elevator.

  • @ignorantpom build the skyscraper like a reaper.

  • Sovereign > Harbinger

  • @RatedR5uperstar ya sovereign's voice sounds a lot cooler too. I dont see why they couldnt have just kept the same one for Harbinger.

  • @mrZsthas u know at the end joker kills Sovereign i'm saying it would been awesome if we killed Sovereign

  • @jonnymovieboy At the final battle, Sovereign transferred his mind into Saren's body. So when you fight and kill Saren at the end, you are actually fighting Sovereign.

  • it would of been awesome if we kill Sovereign not joker

  • @jonnymovieboy ...what? We never killed Joker.

  • I AM SOVEREIGN AND THIS BACON IS MINE!!!!

  • When I heard this the first time, I got chills down the back of my spine.

  • You are not Saren....

  • "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."

  • @Doolz2024 Such an awesome line. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.

  • @Doolz2024 Such a great line.

  • @Doolz2024 that quote gives me chills!!! The best dialogue sequence in any game i have ever played was the dialogue with Sovereign in ME1! So mind blowing and intriguing!

  • I'am sovereign and this is my STATION!!!

  • @TheDemeted its more "I am Sovereign and this station is.. MINE!"

  • Reminds me of Baldur's Gate soundtrack.

  • @Nabu26 Yeah, sounds like Attacked by Bounty Hunters from the first Baldur's Gate.

  • Whenever I hear this music, I feel a huge sense of dread. This makes it a good fit not only for the villain itself but what it represents, a threat far away.

It's a short piece but sometimes that's the best way to go. It is very much parallel with the player's knowledge have of the villain throughout the game, starting off low and understated but then exploding to full prominence as though coinciding the player's realisation of what the character truly is. A dark theme for a dark villain.

  • ASSUMING DIR--- Woops, sorry... too early?

  • After watching this, EVERYONE search and go to this video

    Dune soundtrack - Main title

  • @dEsSiCaTa I played through ME for the first time a couple weeks ago. At several points during the game -- not just this theme -- the soundtrack reminded me strongly of the music from Dune

  • @excalibration Not surprising, supposedly bio-ware was trying to make this movie have aspects from all the old science-fiction films. I totally agree though, I was half expecting Shepard to suddenly have blue glowing eyes!

  • 0:06 i just think "YOU ARE NOT SAREN"

  • Rome total war intro vs Sovereigns theme ..... Which is more epic?

  • I'd love to see a death match between Sovereign and Cthulhu.

  • @Naedeslus They would probably be best friends.

  • @Naedeslus and I'd love to see a south park episode with Cartman riding on top of sovereign

  • Soveriegn: "You exist because we allow it, you will end because we demand it."

    Me: "b...but...ok" :(

  • @zero46t

    in my case it was

Me: "well, for a giant space shrimp, you have an awesome theme"

  • @shadow11479 always looks more like a squid/cockroach hybrid to me lol

  • @zero46t *me: "..WELL YOURE AN ASSHOLE!"

  • @Ssavaralyn

you don't get the point :)))

  • I can see this theme playing when you once again converse with Harbinger. Or, perhaps once again in the renegade ending of ME-3.

  • ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!!!!!!

  • @MrMartianinvader That was Harbinger.

  • the Reapers remind me of The Call of Cthulhu. Almighty ancient beings that the simple human mind can't comprehend.

  • @kinklestar There's a direct reference to Cthulhu in ME2 aboard the derelict Reaper - somebody in one of the vids talks about dead gods dreaming.

  • @hokogan "Chandana said the ship was dead. We trusted him. He was right. But even a dead god can dream"

  • @henrikknudsen Yep. Similar to: "In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

  • @hokogan Oh cool, never knew. Not very much into Lovecraft I am afraid to admit. Only thing I stumble into is the references in all the games, and having some basic knowledge of what it is all about :)

  • @hokogan No doubt that Bioware developed the game's script basing the great alien menace (the Reapers) in the H.P. Lovecraft world. The view that is given to us about Sovereign is of something beyhond our comprehension...

  • You exsist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it.

  • Ah yes, 'Reapers'. We have dismissed that claim.

  • Ah yes, 'Reapers'. We have dismissed that claim.

  • This music would have 2 good places in ME3.

    1) As the Reaper fleet descends from orbit to slow roast planet Earth, or

    2) As the Reaper fleet descends on the Citadel and slow roasts the Turian Councilor.

  • I hope this theme returns in ME3. Bone-chillingly epic.

  • It's amazing how just a clip of music can make something that's only on a TV screen seem so large and menacing, threatening and just plain SCARY.

  • For the three scenes Sovereign was in, each left a sense of complete dread. You first see him out in the distance, taking off for some reason. You see the smoldering crater he left behind when he left Eden Prime, causing that much destruction from just sitting. The scene in which you meet him personally is just chilling thanks to this music, his voice, the lack of a face to look at while he speaks, and his lines. Then at the end you see he was indestructible unless mentally exhausted. Chilling.

  • I am Sovereign and this is my favourite music on the Citadel

  • The best, most epic games I've ever played : Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and soon to come (so to speak "soon" lol :P) Mass Effect 3.

  • *high voice* what is this? some kind of VI interface?

*sovereign's badass voice* YOU ARE NOT SAREN

*high voice turned higher* i dont think this is a VI

me: 0.0 you just got PWNED tali :D

  • This thing's voice couldn't get much deeper without being completely incomprehensible. And it is freaking terrifying the first time round.

  • I hate how the music and everything builds up the reaeprs, you feel insignificant and weak, and with ME3 we are going to win :/ Just seems to go agaisnt who they are and the feeling you get from them. I dont like the idea of losing, but in this case I make an acception, thy are just shown as so much more, they deserve to win.

  • @someguyinwales ME3 isn't out yet, maybe bioware will be brave and make it a no win scenario, although admittedly unlikely. The reapers do seem virtually indestructable in large numbers but i have a feeling they have always been up against organic lifeforms only, the geth will be a big help, plus i have a strong feeling a certain choice from the first game concerning the rachni queen could play a big part, if Bioware are brave enough to make a decision from 2 games ago be so significant

  • @solarisxd Unlikely, ME3 is going to be a "stand alone" game, people wont need to play any previous games. As for geth and Rachni, a gameplay vid shows geth are still with the reapers, and rachni have been indocrtinated once. And now they have Cerberus and bartarian husks. Really winning at this point just seems stupid and far fetched, but nothing you can do other than sit back and watch.

  • @someguyinwales A PS3 ME2 style comic would allow these decisions for people who don't have the first 2 games allowing ME3 to be a standalone game. Concerning geth, we learn from ME2 that it's only a relatively small percentage of the geth who "decided" to fight with the reapers, and there is a choice to recruit them back with the rest of the geth. It could go either way with the rachni. Either way they only way we'll find out is when ME3 is released. :)

  • @someguyinwales cerberus is against us, but geth can be with us and against us, but its not standalone, they are getting in over 1k different options that change according to your choices

  • ok soverigon is one of the best villians the only one that comes close in jon irecices form balders gate 2 anther bioware creation of bad assness

  • @failurbanik and lets not forget Darth Revan for Bioware Badasses :)

  • @Pir4te47 however well we both know whos that

  • When I first talked with sovereign I was like "this is going to be so cool"...

I was wrong... It was utterly terrifying... His voice was so devoid of emotion and really gave you that feeling that organics are nothing more than play things for the reapers...

I listen to this music and I always picture sovereign destroying the citadel fleet... it's overpowering

  • @9089darklord The Reapers do not share your pity, remorse, or fear. They are transcendent above all else. They have not but contempt for life...all life.

  • Easily the most epic video game character... EVER! Darth Vader can suck a dick in comparison to the mighty Sovereign... Never, do i believe, could there be another character with such a fear educing aura about it. BioWare... i salute you.

  • Sovereign=The Emperor

  • comment removed by sovereign.

  • @21centurynostradamus we have dismissed this claim

  • You exist because we allow it.....and you wil end...... because WE demand it.

The very reason and purpose of existence people, right there

  • Sovereigns conversation was chilling

  • I'll be honest: I liked Mass Effect 2 more. I thought the storyline was darker, the characters more diverse, the gameplay more fun. Sovereign and the Geth, however, is where the first game is superior. The Collectors are creepy; the Geth are a chilling race of interstellar death machines. Harbinger was scary puppet master; Sovereign was downright terrifying.

  • This so sounds like Baldur's Gate <3

  • @Fangikun because it is retaken from it !

  • @Aelkamal Maybe yes,but it's almost completely changed so only the beginning is really similar.

  • wow, I was searching for this, thx for upload. When I was playing ME for the first time and got to conversation with Sovereign, it was really chilling for me (yea, my balls chilled too ;). I was like: "Oh my god, we must be such irrelevant creatures, compared to the Reapers :O "

  • Harbinger is the leader of the Reapers. When the last cycle ended Sovereign was left behind to watch civilizations grow. Sovereign was assigned to activate the Conduit so the Reapers could return fast and not travel all the way from dark space. Sovereign needed someone to aid him activate the Conduit because a massive ship can't fly in and borrow the Citadels main computers so he tricked Saren to join him, promising eternal life if he joined the Reapers.

  • @MikaelLV No... no, that's completely wrong. Harbinger was the leader of the Collectors, not the Reapers. Sovereign was left behind to watch the galaxy, to wait until the time was right to reopen the Citadel relay and start the cycle of extinction. Saren believed that the Reapers' return was inevitable, and believed that if he proved he - and consequently, organic life - could be useful, that the Reapers would spare them. Sovereign needed Saren because the Keepers were no longer useful.

  • @MikaelLV Ran out of space in that last reply. The Keepers had become attuned to only the ambient signals of the Citadel itself - they couldn't hear Sovereign's signal. The Geth were used as a tool because, to quote Shepard: "Organic life is less predictable" - the Keepers had evolved, as organics do. So there. X3

  • @MikaelLV wrong, the conduit wasnt made by the reapers, rather the protheans very first, highly experimental relay, linking ilos to the citadel. Soverign needed to acessess the citadel computors to reopen the citadel relay into dark space. and to that he needed saren.

  • Sounds like a Sith theme from KoTOR

  • We are the vanguards of your destruction!

  • @QBCmail yo sovereign! how do you explain those 2 more dislikes since you made this lame ass comment?

  • @enterprise0709 Apparently those 5 dislikes are Garrus, Ashley, Liara, Tali, and Shepard. Wrex and Kaiden ate dirt that playthrough apparently.

  • The time of our return is coming Our number's will darken the sky of every world

  • Comment removed

  • The first fictional character that made my life feel insignificant

  • @BadBoyzProject lol so true...

  • @BadBoyzProject More than Darth Vader

PS. Word has registered "Darth" and "Vader" as correct words!

  • Sovereign was ten times more epic than Harbinger. I mean compare the lines: "you exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it" vs "This hurts you". I hope they fix that in ME3 and make Harbinger more intimidating.

  • @66ALDARIS

When i first fought harbinger I Imagined he said "this hurts you more than it hurts me" And my mind was wtf?

  • This is easily the creepiest theme in Mass Effect. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

  • @SternMann93 That's indoctrination your feeling. Not goosebumps my friend...

  • Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. There is a real of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign.

  • Your words are as empty as your future.

  • reminds me of the godfather theme

    /watch?v=1aV9X2d-f5g

  • Talking to sovereign in me1 was the most eerie, disturbing, oddly sexual thing's ever.

  • We show you this video to show you the theme of Sovereign. You listen because we allow it, and you will like it because we demand it.

We are legion (Legion: That is a prevarication. Shepard-Commander has provided us with such identification. There are errors in this one's software.). The length of this theme is short. But our music will deafen your ears (and indoctrinate you).

  • it's interesting, given that sovereign means "supreme ruler" and a harbinger is essentially a messenger or vanguard, shouldn't the reaper from ME1 have been called harbinger and the leader of the reapers called Sovereign?

  • @PanzerX7 sovereign was just a name given by the geth because they viewed him as a supreme ruler according to mass effect wiki his name is nazara.

  • @MrArioch11 Heritic Geth called it Nazara, Saren called it Sovereign.

  • We simply... are.

  • this gives me goosebumps

  • Assuming direct control.

  • @PanzerX7 Harbinger is second in command. xD

  • ...even after listening to this the turian councilor cannot dismiss our claims
