The girl reminded me of Sandy Shaw. (If) was way ahead of it's time, it was released as two seperate dates in the UK. It's first release was slightly disappointing. The film acquired a larger audience through word of mouth on it's second wave. The B&W secquences were thought of as arty for the day, but the film company had a tight budget and used the lesser expensive film stock, it worked. A classic film from the 60s.
I' m a "quiet" woman, but this is one of those scenes( like the coffee one in O lucky man, A clockwork orange and more) where Malcolm is so irresistible!
i love how malcolm actually had a crush on this girl but she refused to go out with him not even for coffee!! so he told Lindsey Andersen the director if the scene was naked XD haha and malcolm never saw one inch of her because he wanted to be a gentlemen and he was bashful ^_^ i love him X)
Seduction, love and sex sometimes walks thru winding and savage paths, even though most of people think just about its sweet or romantic side. That's why this scene is so important, it reveals how such voracity can be so poetic, pleasant, true and natural.
Wish my girlfriend would do that occasionally...and I'm not talking about making a cup of tea lol...! Excellent scene from an excellent film. Thanks for posting.
We spent a long time working out the precise location of the Packhorse Cafe. Then we found it. It's no longer there, of course - there's a forecourt, a petrol station and, behind, a business park. But it was magic, all the same. (We thought of re-enacting, but we were a bit old for that!)
I love this movie. I remember watching an interview with Malcolm talking about this scene. When he kissed her he actually made painful contact with her face, so the slap and look of contempt was actually very real.
this is one of my favourite scenes in cinema of ALL time.
its sex but better than on screen sex because it has a poetic element to it making it interesting and different and as cheesey as it sounds beautifuly animalistic and random and violent.
i love lindsay anderson. oh and i also love malcolm, its beyond obsession. ive watched this movie about 15 times.
I love this scene, so surreal, uncanny, sublime. My favoiurite one in the film. Can't imagine any other actors in the role either. Christine Noonan and Malcolm McDowell just make it work.
