  • "keep up with the latest trends" circa 2001 style..hahaha

  • She should have wore fedora

  • leather, nayys!!

  • IF ONLY SEE WAS ANIME...THEN IT WOULD BE REPRESENTATIVE

  • "Linu kssss"

  • Ironically no Linux user has ever seen a female...

  • lol wearing that for another six or seven years. Even though Vista had a short shelf life, it's still technically true because Windows 7 is pretty much the same as Vista.

  • @Generalkidd I love the way Vista looks, but Ambiance is seriously the best theme I ever seen in my life. Gonna stick with that for 2 million years : P

  • @rinkavideos64 I mainly like Vista because of it's Aero Theme which includes Flip 3D, Aero Preview, and so on.

  • @Generalkidd Are you crazy? You can make Linux look *way* better than Aero.

  • @rinkavideos64 It's been 6 years since the release of Windows Vista. I have yet to see any Linux themes that look better than Aero in my opinion. I know KDE also has transparency effects like Aero, but overall, KDE Plasma Desktop still just doesn't give you the same impression as Aero. This is all my opinion of course.

  • @Generalkidd Spinning cubes. Coverflow switcher. Wobbly windows. Genie effect. Cool magnifier. Ambiance. Live previews (download Compiz nightly to see them on minimized windows, they're currently icons only). Unity. MT Unity Love Handles. Xtreme customizability. Reflects. Shadows. Transparency. Raindrops. Snow. Fire. Autumn. Aquarium. Gears. Simply beautiful it is. And Windows is INSECURE, too. Install Ubuntu. (Wait till April 28th, that's best.)

  • @rinkavideos64 Windows is only insecure because it has an 85% marketshare in both the home and business market. Therefore hackers try harder to find security holes and make viruses for Windows. If you reverse the situation and give Linux an 85% marketshare and Windows 5%, then Linux will have far more viruses and security holes than Windows. Linux is only secure because hackers aren't interested in hacking Linux. There's more profit to gain from hacking Windows. Same goes for Mac OS X.

  • @Generalkidd Your argument is a falacy. If you dont know about how the Linux Kernel works and prevents all the privilege scalation, please close your ignorant mouth.

  • @rinkavideos64 Theres no reason to think that Linux is not the hackers objective, just check the statistics, who is the leader in the servers market?. The big companies use Linux on their servers, they recieve more attacks than a normal person. Because that, your comment is a falacy.

  • @Metaldownloads Fucking smartass wanting to fuck on other sexy linux girls trying to get them to use Micro$hit Crapdoze.

  • "Leoparrd." lmfao

  • whos Plan 9? Are they a good band?

  • @delta3303

Plan 9 was the follow up to Unix from Bell Labs. It exists, but it didn't take over from Unix.

  • Can't wait 'till there is a Hi I'm a Mac, I'm a PC, I'm a Linux, I'm a BSD, I'm a Plan 9, I'm a Solaris, I'm a BeOS, I'm a CP/M, And I'm a Amiga, "All the others", commercial, would be the shit. BATTLE ROYALE! Plan 9 would so win.

  • Actually people can make and share themes on PC too..... not so sure about Mac though.....

  • @Pigot98 lol you think they're talking about themes or desktops. Sorry man. It's so much more.

  • @TheTalkingCricket Actually ou can change a lot more things than themes and desktops, eg sounds, cursors etc.

But let's not start a Linux Vs. Windows war, Linux and Windows unite :)

  • Yeah! Linux is for girls!

  • The government should look to Linux for help. Model the Linux community for it's structure, and model Linux OS for it's efficiency. Then the world could be happy again!

  • Linux commercial ha!!!...was probably edited on a Mac.

  • You mean overpriced BSD?

  • "I'll probably wear this for another 6 or 7 years." All proud of himself!! ahhahaah

  • i dont care..windows is a piece of shit.

  • Then you're an idiot.

  • they should rly start to make commercials on tv to start getting ppls attention about linux

  • And who is the "They" that would pay for the commercials?

  • if it was at least true.

  • the funny thing is this add is SOOO true!!!!

  • Linux is not meant for appearence just for good working... i mean cmon visual interface of linux as obuntu and that is just as inestable as windows... but with the difference you have 4 kernells so you can freeze each one of them... (l) read hat

  • I think you missed the whole point of this video. Linux is a OS the thing that you are calling "ugly" is just the desktop environment named gnome. If you dont like the looks just put on another jacket.

  • First of: gnome is only the standard light-weight interface. Designed to meet the needs for as many as possible users. That means maintaining speed while having pretty icons without making it too complicated. If you, however, prefer to have something nice and flashy, install Compiz-fusion. With only a moderate CPU consumption, it turns the interface into something windows could only dream of. Getting back to work? Turn it of. Simple. Windows can't offer that. It's hardcoded into the OS.

  • Gnome > lightweight. I lol'd. You should know it is possible to replace explorer in Windows.

  • @42akhan

In comparison to explorer or Compiz-Fusion, Gnome is lightweight. Ofcourse, it doesn't match Xfce and certainly not Fluxbox but it maintains a pretty good balance between functionality and appeal. And you can't replace explorer. You can build a shell around it, which will consume even more resources and be crash-vulnerable because of the closed-source nature of explorer, but removing explorer is impossible as the entire Windows API is built around that one process.

  • You can build a shell . . . around a shell?

Do a google searh for replacement windows shell, or whatever. I'm pretty sure it's possible to replace it, though having never tried it, I can't confirm this. The screenshots are very convincing, though, I must say.

  • Akueda> probably because they'd get sued if they did! :)

  • linux is an OS and run's on a pc, why they say pc if they want to say windows :)

  • Pffff, microsoft copies mac, but linux copies macs ads

  • I use to like Ubuntu, until I tried OpenSuse.

    GO HOT SUSE! GO NOVELL!

  • I use linux mint ^_^

  • That makes two of us.

  • That's because the black service tech from the other Mac-PC vid services yer mom now

  • OMG...linux is HAWT!@#

  • So Linux is sexy now?

  • Linux has been sexy for a while now...

  • Ubuntu is sexy enough these days.

  • This isnt right, basiclly Mac ís Linux, since its built on top of Darwin (linux kernel)...

I'll porve it to you...with some tweaks to Ubuntu you can create an almost perfect Mac-clone.

  • Darwin does NOT use the Linux kernel. It was built around the Mach 3 kernel (Nextstep) with some additional code from the BSD systems. So technically, Mac is a Unix system, while Linux is a clone of Unix.

  • well,linux-like anyways...

  • linux is not a clone of unix ... it has its own kernel... its not built off of unix... OS X is a unix OS though

  • lol your comment = EPIC FAIL.

  • Well I'll probably wear this for another six six or seven years!

    I'm gasping for for air.

    funny stuff

  • I think most of the people who are talking shit about linux never used it , or just tried to make a few double-clicks and gave it up ;P

But I'm sure that almost every Linux user knows how to use a windows system ...

You can't say it's not userfriendly , it's only because it's different and you expect it to be as windows .... if you would have tried it first Windows wouldn't be userfriendly

  • Linux is better just because it does everything OS 10 does, with the same key limitation, it wont run my windows apps. And since its free, i don't have to worry about any bs with activation, infact if you build a pc, and don't have a windows key with you( i made the BIG mistake of buying anouther one at a store). Just load linux on it, add the dock app, and boom, its just like os 10, only on a 300$ pc rather then a 600$ peace of crap mac mini

  • "it wont run my windows apps"

It might. Install WINE and have a look at the WINEHQ website. It may well support the apps you want to run.

  • I know about wine, and while its a good effort and all, its just not possible to play the lastest games with linux. Great OS though

  • probably cuz thoughs newer games that yur playing need like direct x or something... try some linux games.... it has all thoughs strategy, adventure, and shooters

  • Im a gamer. linux games are cute, sure, but most of them look like some student product, when i need some real games im still stuck on windows.

  • yeah i just love thoughs games with Tux in them

  • But It has some interesting games, like Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey, SimCity, among others.

    Just try them, they're nice.

  • im a gamer that means it comes out... i want it.

No waiting for wine to get it working in linux, no i played left for dead on launch day, and even though it kinda works in WINE it has a frame rate of like 10( compared to 35 on the same pc in windows)

  • the games i said are native of linux. sorry, my english sucks. I mean, they are not using wine, they are linux version.

  • What trends are you talking about? Most Linux distros are constantly updated, unlike other operating systems that update once every 4 years.

  • Every distro of Linux has usability issues.

"Keeping up with the Latest Trends" in my interpretation is support for the latest hardware, and software. As with "ALL distro's of linux" this is not true. I use linux everyday, and I don't need to spend time trying to get linux to work with my hardware or have to worry about adding firewire support to the kernel or wondering why my WiFi card isn't being detected. What good is updating the distro every six months when it does'nt fix the core issues?

  • It would be a lot easier for the devs to release drivers for new hardware faster if manufacturers would cooperate a bit more with them. If you know what you're doing, you can get almost any piece of hardware working. It just takes a little effort. If you still can't find a solution, why not make one? Linux doesn't move forward with complainers, only those who fix problems they have and contribute to the community are the ones who make linux progress.

  • Linux supports more hardware "out of the box" than any other operating system. Period. And if you use Linux, you know that.

  • Amen.

  • Linux sets trends.

  • I love the Linux girl!

  • true jeje

  • haha pretty true

  • Linux girl is so gorgeous...

  • Unlike linux xD

  • LOLs, "I think I will be wearing this for another six or seven years"

  • rofl. this is great! it is soo tru!

  • So True!

Linux GUI's are really cool, and there is not Just one like in Windows or Mac.

And they are being developed the whole time, I don't have to wait like 5 years for another graphic interface.

And what's better, I don't have to wait like 6 years to get almost the same shit, and worst (Vista)

  • I take issue with the the mainstream Linux GUIs - GNOME is buggy and gets in your face, the latest developments in KDE has made it slow, glitchy and crash-prone. XFCE has never cashed in on the promises it makes. As it is I'm stuck with the old KDE 3.5 line until either something better comes up, or I get around to writing my own desktop, WM and panel...

  • In my computer, I get the impression that KDE works a little bit less fast than Gnome, although they say KDE uses less resources than Gnome.

Other than that, I never had any serious problem with Gnome or KDE. Really, I only remember one time, when it got frozen and I had to restart it.

Good luck with your own desktop development :-D

  • Any computer that can run Windows will be faster with KDE.

KDE is fast on a dual core 2GB RAM system.

I have Kubuntu 64 bit and I don't have any issue with bugs or crashes. It certainly crashes less than the Vista I have installed on the same machine (dual boot, it's as easy clicking 'Ok')

  • I've been around the Linux scene since KDE 1 hit the Internet... and KDE 4 is the first release I really don't like. They did a lot of unnecessary changes (such as the control center - a simple cleanup would have sufficed) and really failed when it came to the desktop re-write (it's slower, it's a lot buggier, it replaces perfectly good features, such as shortcuts to directories, wihtout providing an adequate replacement). The all-SVG Qt4-themes run dog slow. It's a bad release. I don't use it.

  • I have that on my work laptop, but I never touch that machine. Right now I'm Kubuntu with KDE 3.x on my desktop. Compiz is behaving very well too, not perfectly but it has never crashed.

  • For some reason, Compiz works a lot better when run with Gnome. I'm assuming this is due in no small part to compiz having been built on Gnome libraries. Sure, it works with KDE, but it's been, in my experience, jerky and laggy for no particular reason.

I'm guessing this is just varying mileage, since a lot of people seem to be using it without issues under KDE...

  • Compiz Fusion has never integrated with KDE properly. But Kwin now with properly integrated composite support has now made Compiz Fusion redundant (you don't need Compiz Fusion to have snazzy effects in KDE 4.2).

  • I haven't liked kde 3 either until I tried the recent builds of 4.2. It's finally to the point where I actually enjoy using it again.

  • KDE4 made me switch to GNOME because I hated it so much (plasma ew). I now use GNOME exclusively, and like it.

  • KDE 4.2 is fantastic.

  • I like the control center, its much better than the old KControl. The old codebase was not resonably manageable so they made the decision for a rewrite and used this as an opportunity to used new technology, it has been rocky, but KDE 4.2 is finally starting to shine. Great speed, stability improvements, and overall polish. This year will be a great year for KDE.

  • zweden is gay, Linux works so well it's not even funny. it's like taking the good looks of mac and the utilities of PC and turning into your own weapon of destruction, most kids use linux because its free, has no licenses or copyright BS (copying DVDs is child's play), and it is extremely customizable

  • Seriously, Ma and Pa and the kid are going to sit around the "Linux Box" and type in commands dood... oh whoops need the new xpbatlk for super_family_game. One sec dear, I'll recompile the kernel... YAH F()CK1N RIGHT.

  • what planet are you from? You could give your mom Ubuntu or knopix and tell her it's windows, she wouldn't know the diff. She would thank you for making her life easier.

  • wtflol

  • lol. so true :)

  • dude its way more user friendly then any microsoft OS

  • @fuzzman25

whats mean "friendly" in your words?

  • @fuzzman25 what is, mac os? try out win 7 if you meant macs OS. seriously

  • very good video, lots of truth to it!

  • "I'll probably wear this for another six to seven years". It's funny because it's true.

Really, the creators of these videos are definitely smart guys (or females) with a good sense of humor. I enjoy these videos very much

  • Not true.

  • What exactly isn't true? That Windows will look the same for the next six to seven years?

Yes it is true. We've been stuck with Windows XP for six years, and for six years it had the same layout. Same goes for the other operating systems. Especially if you realize that Windows 95 to Windows ME all looked the same visually.

    Think about it.
