I'm not a Jimmie Johnson fan, but I think he's one of the class acts of NASCAR and even if people want to live by the lie that he doesn't deserve to be a champion, they should still respect him for how calm and collective he stays most of the time - and he's never disrespectful towards the fans.

Most of Jeff's championships he kind of slacked off at the end of the season. Can't do that anymore.

The rules are the rules.... when every driver knows of the rules, and has to follow the same exact rules... then it's fair no matter what happens. Also a 500 point lead? try 312 points. Jeff Gordon won only 2 of those races while Jimmie Johnson won 4. JJ was clearly the better driver when it counted most. Can't hate on Jimmie for that, it's NASCAR's rules... but they are by no means "unfair."

@kingofrunescapepking and if you think about it, if fans hadn't been complaining "make wins more important for the chase," NASCAR would have kept it the same as it originally was... with everyone starting the chase in the positions they finished regular season in. Overall though, I think NASCAR's been getting things right in 2010 and 2011. Plus, in 2013 some exciting things are going to be happening to bring back manufacturer identity - which goes far beyond what we even see in Nationwide COT.

And in all honesty, Jimmie Johnson was performing very well in almost every racing series he entered... from dirt tracks in the mid 90s to short tracks like Concord (one of the hardest half mile tracks in the country) in the late 90s, to when he came into NASCAR. It's not like Jeff Gordon hired a would-be nothing. He would be in Cup either way, just maybe not in a good ride as fast.

Man, That area is extremely dangerous that has a been a very bad area of the race track this past weekened and they need to fix it before there is a fatality.

I can remember similar situations like this befor 1991 when the backstretch was very fast and there were alot of hard hits and thein in 1991 JD McDuffie died from a hard hit and then after that they fixed that area by puting in the esses on the backstretch to slow the cars down. That could've been fatal if this was 2000.
