  • Let them speed the fuck up if that's where the moment leads them. They're clearly fluent in the language of music and they've got some great shit to say.

  • All three of you are BURNIN' - Sweet!

  • At 4:25, listen to the chick say," I have to p**, actually...."

But more importantly, listen to the hometown boys lay it down!

  • Great job outta you Dan... You know who this lol

  • Hello Rebecca and Dan,

Glad to see you are doing what you love and not going to business school at the UW or whatever they wanted...I hope to see some beautiful kids soon on your website...Rebecca will make an outstanding mom

  • not good, but great job outta you.

  • Dan, Love hearing you play your guitar. This is John from the Mike Francesa board. Great job outta you, in a big spot. Keep up the great work. Got any more videos?

  • Dan, its matt glickman your old student, this is great! hope all is well.

  • jhheyydhaaf

  • Terrific playing by everyone! Five stars *****

  • su putisima madre, estan cabronsísimos estos vatos, felicidades!!!!! son unos músicos super radicales, excuse me but english doesn't have the enough words for the description of you music =P, is simply awesome!!!!!!!!

  • i respect that guy on the guitar . good play

  • Hey, that's my friend, Dan Heck. If you think he's smokin' on the guitar, you ought to hear him play the bass. The guy is amazing. I've seen as many as 5o people in the audience lay down on the floor after Dan's performance and chant, "I'm not worthy." And then his vocalist wife, Becca, comes out and puts Dan to shame. They are one jammin' couple! Doc

  • hey dan! mark r. here , can't tell you what a pleasure it is to see you on youtube! I miss you very much, your one of my favorite guitar players I ever had the pleasure of playing with. best of luck to you, come back to ny sometime o.k? peace my friend.

  • Dan--That is fabulous playing. I only wish the video were better lighted...can't see your licks very well. You guys are tighter than a New York jeweler. Great stuff! Keep cookin'--

  • Even despite the tempo, this is one of the best "Four on Six" renditions I've seen on YouTube as of now. There's a lot of energy in your group, and you didn't diverge from Wes Montgomery's feel. Keep up the awesome work!

  • I'm Dan, the guitar player. I agree it speeds up as well. But the playing here is good. I've played 800 gigs where the band didn't speed up. And on 700 of those gigs, the band didn't play this good, or with this energy. So, like Joe said, it happens. Sometimes it ADDS to the energy, sometimes it's too much, thats for you, the listener, to decide. But dig this clip for what it is.....good music, with or without the rushing. Just dig the riduculously solid B-3 playing and enjoy. Peace.

  • Yeah. That's why I've always thought that jazz is a very close, if not _the_ definition of good music to my ears. Nothing else comes close.

  • Dan Heck is one Mother F#$@er on the Guit Fiddle! Listen to him bebop his way through these hot changes. This is BURNIN'!!!

Joe Kills! Playing bass lines with one hand and soloing with the other is Advanced! Jon Wicks on kit is a supremely unique artist. Great solo and great feel! Very swingin' boys! CD

  • it gets EVER SO SLIGHTLY faster

  • hello, I don't think anyone in the band disagrees the tempo speeds up. If I had a nickel for anytime I've heard tempo changes from the jazz masters to the unknowns...I'd be a rich man. If anything it's probably me, the organist, who may have sped it up on this cut.

So there you have it. You'll live.

  • sorry, i didn't intend to rub it in your face, my intention was to tell the other guys that it didn't speed up as much as they thought it did, because it barely did. Either way all you guys sound amazing. I'm with you on this one.

  • that is good playing indeed! Where are these guys based? any one know?

  • Seattle Wa.

  • definately starts much slower and even picks up in tempo very abruptly

  • That's killer playing

  • That Dan Heck guy is a bad M.F. Enough said.

  • hot sound bud real smooth and sly

  • oustanding work!

  • Wow, lot's of views. I'm Dan Heck, the guitar player. If you're at all interested in purchasing CD's of this trio or other projects, check out naplesjazz dot com. Thanks for checking the clip---Dan

  • wow man superb playing! if you don't mind me asking, what model/type of guitar are you playing in this clip? it almost reminds me of Charlie Christians guitar, and sounds like gold!

  • It's a 1959 Gibson ES-125 with a humbucker pickup instead of the stock P-90.

  • great guitar - better then the version by pat martino i just listened to

  • Great guitar. I agree that it sounds a little hurried. Still superb musicianship by everyone though.

  • Outstanding performance by all.

At time 4:30, some goofy chick can be heard saying "I have to pee". What a dope.

  • i like what you guys do with the song. nice content, but it seems like someone is rushing the beat at some points.

  • Great job, Joe,John and Dan!

  • hey dan not bad but i would advise a little metronome shedding...glasses too?? aging with grace! sound GREAT dan.. hope i run into you soon...steel

  • Awesome!

  • Nice Dan! I can't wait to play with you again!
