  • eat meat now, get cancer later, see your family member get heart disease, thanks a lot, i appreciate all the hormones and antibiotics injected in the animals, and they are shot in the head then cut while alive. THis Oprah show didn't even touch the surface of the negative effects factory farms have on America..

  • EAT BEEF! The only mad cow in america is oprah!

  • animals are so helpless and cute, and they are more civilized than even hman beings are...

  • and yeah, where can i watch this show. i dont live in USA (thank GOD) but would love to see it. have tried illegal downloads (torrents) and cant find a way to watch it :(

  • i cant live 24h without meat. i even tried it once. the paaaaaaaain!!! -.-

i even killed my first pig, gutted him and watched it roast when i was 16 :D

meat rulZZZZZ, in fact i love every food, sea food, (i love) salads, pasta,.. come to think of it, there isnt a food i dont like. and i am not even fat o.O (180cm/75kg), guess playing sport does help :D

and i havent got an health issues since i was 7, other then cold. its all in moderation.

  • Can't believe i missed it...

anybody know where I can find a video of the whole episode??

  • Please re-air this show. I don't even recall seeing the preview commercial for this one.

  • I wish I hadn't missed this episode.

  • PO-TA-TOES!?

  • If you want to eat only greens, more power to you.If you want to eat meat, I'm with you.We need to raise our own food, whether it's chickens or Veggies. That way everyone is happy and not putting others down. Personally, Meat is the best, but so are veggies. So who really gives a rats ass what Oprah says.

  • You are what you eat, so eat a hero today! Just make sure it's plant protein so you live longer and healthier lives! Inform yourself! Don't be led to the trough like an animal!;;

  • to many animal worshipers seems some people so hurt/evil they have turned thier compassion to animals...poor animals proablly confused

  • Thank god I'm a veggie. I don't get how people can eat meat. Sorry, but it's so unethical and gross. And animals are cute! Why do some people eat cute creatures of nature? Go green!

    Peace and Love!

  • kudos!

  • What does "kudos" mean? XD (LMAO XD sorry, I don't speak fluent english, and I totally don't know like slang. XD

    Peace and Love.

  • I think in Swedish you would say "beröm" =]

  • LMAO XD So you're from Sweden? XD Blooper. I don't even know why I still speak english.. I mean.. if you speak the language it's kind of unnecessary.. but.. if you only checked it up in a dictionary.. whatever. XD I'm just gonna check your channel.

    Peace!

  • I think animals who aren't tortured taste better.

  • I'm glad Oprah covered this.

Look its not about eating meat or not and who's better; each person must make their own ethical line in the sand.

I haven't eaten pork for a decade because I don't like the factory farming of pigs, choose free-range chicken and will not go near veal or lamb.

Just because you do eat meat doesn't mean you still can't make choices for yourself ... its not all black and white

  • I was vegetarian for 5 years and had to have blood transfusions for extremly low iron count in my blood. You need the iron and the protien from the meat and there are other vitamins in meat that are hard to find in other things. It's hard to be vegetarian as you have to take vitamin supplements a lot. If you wanted to change your diet it's always best to speak with your doctor too as changing your diet always effects your health.

  • that is utter nonsense.i stopped eating red meat in 1977 (23 years) and all other meat shortly thereafter..i have too much iron in my blood, according to my primary care physician (it's probably genetic-as is my low blood pressure), and am a regular apheresis donater (blood plasma instead of platelets).let's not generalize from our individual experiences.lifestyle changes take self-discipline + guidance (my motivation was anaphylactic shock from the food chain - THAT will get your attention!)

    ------------------------------

i like ice. ice makes me feel goood.

  • @mydoho: i love ice..just don't chew it - it will crack the enamel on your teeth and your dentist will tell you to STOP! also, watch your water source..toxic ice!

  • wth. o-o

  • No. Stop killing ice.

  • Well you can get Iron from greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens. from seafood too.

  • Don't forget potaaaatos! =]

  • That is completely untrue. Myself and my best friend have never eaten meat and we are perfectly fine. In fact, my whole family is vegetarian. We don't have to have transfusions nor take supplements.

  • Ya'll keep eating meat, and get fat and unhealthy! Yay.. Go ahead..

And be a part of this animal cruelty!

Me? I'd rather be HEALTHY.. and unlike all u idiots, i love animals!!

  • you don't have to make them feel bad

  • Oh, and if we were not meant to eat meat, why do we have incisors?

  • who said we were not meant to? whoever it was was lying to you.

we WERE adapted to eat meat a long time ago when we did not have the proper knowledge and means to find other ways other than killing animals.

now that way of living is obsolete. we used to NEED to eat meat, but now we're just selfish & uncaring towards other living things. we have MORE than enough ways we could live without eating meat, and yet we are still killing millions of animals for meat.

its an obsolete way of living.

  • What is a vegan diet? Is it devoid of proteins? I'm a man and men need proteins to be healthy. I can't get by on tree bark alone.

  • Protein comes in most of the foods we eat, not just meat. Most Americans end up getting 2 to 3 times the amount of protien they actually need (because of over consumption of animal products) which is quite hard on your kidneys. Vegans don't have any problem getting enough protien as long as they're consuming enough calories (assuming they're not just eating junk food). In fact, I remember reading about a world body building champion who stuck to a stict vegan diet.

  • You ignorant hillbilly.

  • 1 in 4 mammals are at risk for extinction and thousands of cats and dogs need good homes. Help Chilldogg be a voice for the animals when we give thanks for them in our Thanksgiving collaboration video. Join us, other YouTubers, and hard working animal conservationists like Dr. Laurie Marker from the Cheetah Conservation Fund, and Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton from Save the Elephants. Let's see if our voices can save the animals and change the world.

    Best wishes,

    Chilldogg and Chilldadd

  • Everyone knows that tortured animals just taste better!!

  • LOL...you're funny! Poor tortured animals =[

  • I love this guy!

  • GO VEGAN!!

  • There've been lobbyists working w/Washington for many years, to protect the sales of products. Humans need to eat, so you can't tell me that shortcuts haven't been taken, and mixed messages are sent through the media, that we need this product or that product in our daily diets. When the FDA start to do their job & remove trans fats, hydrogenerated oils, from our Food Supply, get a research team for med's, before they go to market, as well! As long as there's money to make they truly don't care!

  • We tend to forget the horrific msgs that were sent thru the media in the '70's on what were done to calf's, so that human's can eat our their precious Veal. Suspended in air for no muscle gain, fed/injected w/chemical's to be tender, to be "extra special" for the human plates. Placed in line, one after the other and watch, as their fellow animals are slaughtered, within days results are placed for eating. Can't tell me that this horrific process does not affect the meat that is later eaten!!

  • How can you assure that the meat industry is not filthy rich?? It is, and so is the dairy industry.

  • it's been proven by scienctists and doctors in several different studies that eating a vegan diet is healthiest. sorry to break it to you. now you might have to start re-evaluating what you've been taught your whole life. just accept that you've been lied to. do your own research. what you'll find may amaze you and make you downright pissed off.

  • farmers, maybe. factory farmers, not a chance. most animals raised for human consumption are raised on factory farms. at these "farms", making the most money possible is the bottom line.

  • I missed this episode. Can someone tell me what she said about the free range meat specifically? I always buy free range when I can b/c I figure the animals are treated better. Did she say this is incorrect? Am I spending nearly triple the price for nothing?!

  • They aren't.

free range means that they have access to the outside, thats it.

  • I know the line Oprah is following. It is very close to Buddhism.

  • Casting call for Sophie, Solomon, Luke and Layla. Tell me why you are thankful for your dogs in my Thanksgiving Day collaboration video. Help raise awareness for animals and give thanks. Details on my YouTube Channel. Thanks Oprah!

    Chilldogg

  • Great idea. Let's spread the truth. Lettuce, spinach, jalapenos and tomatoes. These food items are the source of this country's most recent foodborne illness outbreaks from, you guessed it, e-coli and salmonella. Lastly, why are we discussing raw meat? Who eats raw meat? Update... Cave men are now extinct. Cook and handle meats according to appropriate USDA guidelines and e-coli and salmonella become a non-issue. That's the truth.

  • Careful what you wish for Vegan consumers. "Free Range" makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy, it fails to reflect the parasite and disease infestation that accompany it. Production agriculture is a scientific business and millions of dollars are spent to determine the most productive, safe, healthy and yes, HUMANE way to produce food for human consumption. In agreement with 4thefarm, following USDA guidelines in addition to on the farm practices help insure a safe, nutritious, quality product.

  • No it isn't. Our 'real' diet, as you incorrectly call our natural diet, is omniverous. Animals AND vegetable matter. It's reality, and you just have to face it. Being a non meat eater is a choice that you have now, because you live in a comparatively rich(and I don't mean just economically, but in diversity, and freedom of choice as well) society.

  • Well said...

  • Ask any nutritionist.. I do and have. Most licensed dietitians will tell you that a diet that includes ALL FOODS in moderation is the best approach for complete nutrition. I'm referring to grains, fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Furthermore folks, let's have some intelligent discussion on this topic and leave out comments such as "duh" and "ha ha."

  • haha you all fail...

humans have a CHOICE to go to the grocery store and choose what they eat, tigers dont.

And our teeth are NOT designed to tear meat, go look at your dogs teeth, then look at yours, big difference.

Ask nearly any nutritionist and they will tell you that a well balanced VEGETARIAN diet is healthier than a diet consisting of meats.

    Thats all I'm saying

  • You are appropriately named here on Youtube. Your anecdotal observation of a dog's teeth versus your own is inane. Take a few serious classes in biology and you will be surprised.

  • There is a saying :

"As you Eat, So is your Thoughts...

And As you Think, So you Are"!

  • Animals our people to.... Not! what a fn waste of money I VOTE NO! and you can take that to the bank..

  • Eating meat is natural and healthy! We have evolved to be meat eaters and have been eating meat since we were hunter-gatherers. Hence the name hunter! Just look at our teeth, designed for tearing and chewing meat.

The top of the food chain is meant to eat meat. Wolves eat other animals, it is what we do!

  • Eating meat is not natural and healthy. We have evolved into very skilled hunters, but our teet were meant to grind soft food. Not tear through food like a dog or cat, because they are flat for us, not pointy like theres.

The top of the food chain is meant to evolve into a higher state and allow something else to take it's place without disturbing the natural way of life.

God put you hear didn't he? LoL, friggin religion!

  • is there something wrong with that I like the taste of raw meat more than cooked?

  • Actually, our teeth ARE meant to tear meat AND vegetable matter. Our digestive system is meant to handle an animal and vegetable diet. We are omnivores by birth. While it is fine to CHOOSE not to eat parts of the traditional human diet, it is NOT fine to disseminate lies and false 'facts' to push your beliefs on others. Get over yourself.

  • I wonder how the other animals species are going to react when they learn they have to go vegan? Tofu-eating tigers?? Food chain, people. Food chain.

  • i hope this comment was a joke. tigers aren't expected to stop eating animals. they need to in order to live. humans, on the other hand, do NOT. we choose to because "they taste good." it's been proven over and over that a vegan diet is the healthiest way to eat.

  • Yeah. I agree with you. My aunt is one of the healthiest people I know and she is vegan and i am a vegiterrian working on becoming vegan. it's a hard process, but it CAN be done.

  • Vote Yes on Prop 2

  • ugh just shut up! quit talking about it and go vegan. there, all problems solved. duhhh.

  • Very sad to read most of these comments, I'm guessing mostly from people who have never stepped foot on a farming operation. Take a moment to revist nature and the "food chain" we are ALL a part of, humans and animals alike.

  • Another note its natural to eat meat

We have been conditioned to believe its normal but its not. when your a child you dont know a hot dog is from a pig or cow living being. but when you find out most children want to be vegitarians, but there parents force them to eat meat. So they become desenseitized.

  • I meant to say its not natural to eat meat!

a typo error on my part. SO very sorry!!

    thank catheirne

  • Thank you Oprah! I am a vegan! This was so true. The way in which the animals are treated, and raised. The story only gets worse at the Slaughterhouses. Its sickening! If you think about it,we dont need to eat animal products. Its our desire that befall us all. Its not what is best for the animals or the good of human health. We can live without animal products, much better. In my opinion eating meat is killing us and our planet so perhaps that was the forbidden food in Gen! all the best Catherine

  • who cares for a moment if you eat it or not the fact is the way they are treated is WRONG!

  • i saw that last night it great!

  • Yeah, I live on the west coast so the show here is 4pm my time in the local channel (3 hrs after the east coast watched it). The most disturbing thing is that the same stupid local channel came back around 6pm, I'm not a paranoid but it was really convenient.

  • Oprah didn't even show the worst of the worst in her show. But I applaud her for her efforts of bringing the issue to mainstream attention. Millions of people watch Oprah, and I really hope something encourages people to not accept the conditions of these animals.

  • We all know not ALL farms operate the same way. However, it's still sickening that any number of farms would treat living, feeling animals in such a manner

I'm NOT a PETA freak, or vegetarian nut -- so I don't care what other people eat. I just wish the meat industry could find more humane ways to handle the animals - although murder is never humane, many changes could be made. They basically torture these animals and no one cares, but let someone kick a dog or cat and its animal abuse

  • ** Yeah I posted the comment twice, so what!

    the first had spelling errors

  • Not all farms operate this way. I just want to point that out. Most American Farmers take very good care of their animals. And for those who believe farmers are leading the charge to starvation due to feeding grain to animals-think again. We farm-you EAT. Simply said. Regardless whether its farming animals, grains, whatever-it's all one big circle. The meat industry being filthy rich- that's a good one! So untrue. If you only understood the cost to feed people today, you would understnd.

  • i want someone to come on here and tell me that they have seen a healthy vegetarian. honestly. dosent happen. what she depicts on this show is falsified. i am a hog and cattle farmer. i will forever be proud of raising the worlds best food. i cant believe what theyre trying to tell the american consumer.

  • There are millions of helathy veagetarians. What would give you the impression that they are unhealthy? They eat the healthest of foods - fruits and veggies, among other things

No one needs meat to be healthy. Everything we need to live can be found in non-meat based products.

Get fucking real and stop being braindead -- if anything we are mislead to believe (meat equals life) for us, when it doesn't

I hope you left that comment as a joke because you cant be that retarded

  • thank you!

  • go veg! :)

  • The local channel went off today when Oprah was about to start, I was waiting for a week to watch this!

  • when???

  • Definitely got the TiVo set for this show!

  • A great show to come,i don't live in the USA otherwise i watch it. I must wait for 6 or 8 months to watch this show ( i cann't wait )

  • Google on the net the video "MEET YOUR MEAT" narrated by Alex Baldwin. You will learn where our food come from.

Also google the videos: MEATRIX I, MEATRIX II.

  • WOW, are you trying to be a hypocrite? YOU blocked ME. You're the one running away, and you know it.

I'd never censor you. I respect your right to SPEAK. You're just a baby, and by running away you have satisfied me. Thank you.

  • Hello, coward. Did you enjoy attacking my figurative speech and casual typing style?

Who says "How do I go fuck myself"? That's just pathetic. Correct grammar and syntax is one thing, but when you can't also communicate at the informal human level you have a social disorder!

Do you really think this is how I'd write a paper? No. You're not that stupid. You're just an insecure person who can't handle a debate. Once I proved that you're a hypocrite, you ran away.

    Baby.

  • N37BU6--Sorry, but I cannot stand stupid and racist people. It nullifies any argument you may bring forth.

It is clearly stated in my youtube profile for all to see. Nothing hypocrite about it, it's all in the open.

My pappy taught me to never argue with a drunk, a moron or a racist, as it would be a total waste of my time.

Dead brain cells do not regenerate themselves. Go back to your comic books and let the mature people have a meaningful exchange here.

  • Keep throwing that word around... it's alienating a lot of people from your camp. I love how you all scream racism, yet fail to see it running rampant within your own party.

"My pappy taught me to never argue with a drunk, a moron or a racist, as it would be a total waste of my time"

No wonder you don't know yourself.

  • Thank you for sharing, I`ll do the same,

  • hopefully this will open people's eyes

  • Perhaps you may want to do an hour regarding MONSANTO - GMO's, round up ready seeds, terminator seeds, patents on life itself... that would be a true eye opener for many as well as a total outrage.

  • Great show to come! And about time that the truth is out in the open! Bravo Oprah! If slaughtherhouses' walls were made of glass...

    everyone would be vegan!

  • I agree with you! People should also go to the PETA web site, and have a look at the investigative video there!

  • PS. My 'agree' was to the person that said, "If slaughter houses was made of glass..."

  • Thank you Oprah and all those that participate in this program. I don't want to sound negative but I truly have to ask myself, "what took you so long".... well, I suppose it's better late than never and I sincerely thank you. The majority of people that consume these products have no clue who, what, where, when or why for that matter they are even eating it to begin with.

  • try again !!have patience with yourself

give yourself a reward of something else you like very much

may God help you to grow into an animalabusefree life style

    blessings and love wishes winny

  • They are brutes and animal abusing parasites. This is agribusiness, and the animals are seen as ONLY a commodity.

  • Sadly very true. They've admitted themselves many times they cut every corner possible for minimal spending and Maximum profit.

These animals, which once had lives and families and freedom, are now locked in cages smaller than them and brutalized until they die.

People have even said they have no rights at all. they're just property. sad no? animals being looked at as expendable, lifeless objects

  • This show airs Tue. Oct 14th... Hopefully it will show enough people that animal "food" is not sustainable. A plant based diet is the only ecologically sound, healthy (and compassionate) way of living. For health & heart - GO VEGAN

  • I wish I had seen this episode.

  • You still have time to see it! It is tomorrow, Oct. 14! Don't miss it!!!!

  • I have waited a long time for Oprah to do a show like this.

Let us ALL Please send letters to the Oprah Show site asking her to do a show on the fashion-FUR industry - where animals are VERY Oftentimes skinned ALIVE to become someone's coat.

Show great support by watching Oprah this Tuesday, 10-14-08.

  • thats a very good idea

  • hellllooo

  • Your food coms from Bushes ass!

    OOOO I did it!

    No just kidding.

  • There should be a mcdonalds for vegetarians... I'd eat there every day...

and theres salads in mcdonalds i think :D

  • Are Lisa Ling and Lucy Liu the same person? Or is it Lucy Ling and Lisa Liu? I can never tell.

  • I just read "Skinny Bitch" and now I decided to become a vegan. I recommend for those who interested in this lifestyle to read this book. Meat industry in the US is cruel and very poison. No wonder why my health conditions dropped ever since I came to the USA 1-year ago.

  • I wonder if lisa ling is asian.

  • Duh !

  • Remember, happy animals make for healthier meals!

  • I saw a preview for this upcoming show on The Insider. I am mortified at how these animals are being treated. Just because they are going to be killed for food doesn't give "people" the right to treat them badly. They are breathing, living creatures.

Thanks to the Oprah show for bringing such important topics into the public eye.

  • Im a Vet and I feel discussed about the way these animals are treated even here in New Zealand. Im sick of it, just sick of it. I am so disapointed in our country

  • what???American doesnt know where their foods come from???For God's Sake! that's what modernization do to human beings!
