@FourDollaRacing Cynicism aside...The American Model Yachting Association races a Nirvana class; so, any previous problems with this ship are simply operator error!
Don't even talk about the Victor boats . I have one and it has been nothing but grief for me since I bought it. The boats are fragile and hole easily and the keel splits easily. The hatch is not water tight. and the price is high if you want it built.
If you want to get a good inxpensive starter boat that you will love to sail for many years, buy any of the Victor boats. They require a little more building prowess, but you won't be dissappointed in the performance. However, you will need to buy your own electronics. Also, make sure you set the boat up right--there is nothing worse than having a poor sailing boat due to lack of basic sailing knowledge and incorrect setup,etc..
LETS FACE THE TRUTH, MOST OF THESE RC SAILBOATS WON'T GO MORE THAN 3 FEET AND THEN YOU HAVE TO TACK POORLY TO GO ANOTHER FEW FEET AS THEY NOSE DIVE AND STOP MOVING FORWARD. WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE Nirvana II. That is NOT sailing. It sort of just jerks around, looking for tack after tack. It is the design, not the operator.
Sorry, this boat is a piece of crap. The servos are junk. The sail "winch" didn't work right out of the box. And when I sent them back they would not replace them unless I sent the whole boat back to the factory. The boat is poorly designed, It dives in any kind of breeze. It has a special box for all of the servos that fills w/water constantly. I will never buy another Megatech product ever.
Glad to. I got a Soling 1 Meter. It's a little more of a kit but it's a really great boat. Modeled after an Olympic racer. Ironically, the NII was designed by the guy who designed the R/C Laser. 8/
no, but, the Villain can withstand waves like nothing else it's size, the Sv27 has actually flipped on the wake off of my EX. The sailboat also has the problem (this is the Nirvana 2 problem) of the nose submerging in light winds, and the rudder comes out of the water easily and you lose all steering control. Just a few cited problems.

No offence but the soling 1 is just not for me. I dont want a soling or a J24 style or anything that I have sailed on.

Dragon I dont know anyone who is actually into RC who buys RTR vehicles regularly, and definately NEVER at a bargain basin price like this boat.
This is available for 150-200$.
ANY COMPETITIVE BOAT the servos and remote are going to cost you 150-200$ not including boat kit, sails, rigging, keel, etc
ProductionDesignrMAX 4 years ago
look at the villain EX, $350.00 And it is one of the best boats out there, and it is RTR. You have to paint it to make it look good though.

Your not seriously suggestion that I buy a powered TRAXXAS boat are you?
If it doesn't have sails its just not a proper yacht.
