What does this show other than a general tendency for people to give the benefit of the doubt? Janitorial stuff like this pops up all the time, and it is only natural to respect what appears to be someone's work for the community. If you insert a footnote saying that stepping on the gray tiles won't actually hurt anything, then people are just gonna tromp all over them.
@AntiCitizenX even though this was a million years ago it seems, the point was to show that people listen to those that they believe have authority. Being that everyone shown in the video here is a student, a janitor of the school would be an authoritative figure in this setting. Even your explanation says the point of this video in a roundabout way.
You didn't leave enough space between the tiles and the wall. You need to ask yourself what this says about society. Don't we see this type of thing all the time around damp floors?
The floor should have had fresh paint on it so that way the first kid would have been covered in it.
I believe most people thought it was painted or just cleaned, or being preped for something. Yea I know the sign didn't say so but with the Yellow cone and cleaning cart, it'll throw ppl off. Just a thought
Wish it did work this way. My hubby is a commercial tile setter. They put up huge signs in public malls, etc. that say DO NOT WALK ON TILES and even use yellow tape to tape off areas (because they are setting). Yet every single time, someone walks across them. When they realize they are messing up the floor, the figure, "oh well" and just continue on to destroy them.
that was pretty awesome when a collection of people were going by it reminded me of a concept I just learned I can't remember the name right now but it's cool
what i learned from this video- social psychology experiments are a good way to fuck with people.

I agree that this is fairly retarded...

People are asked not to do something and most of them don't.
How enlightening.

They dont question why not walk on the grey tile, they just do as there told... thats what I get from it.

yeah, but because of the yellow pillon and cleaning cart, they might just have thought it was painted or wet or sth.
in which case their shoes would get dirty as well..
wubs23 2 years ago
I wouldn't say that's a social psychology project. they think somethings on the tiles that will ruin their shoes or something,

..the guy at 4:06 made such destruction... but still managed to clip some of the forbidden tiles...
