The NATO is to defend the west and Turkey against any greater enemy that we face. It was founded to be a bullwark against the USSR, but the USSR does not exist anymore. Military alliances do not need a direct enemy to be justified because if they are founded when the threat is on it's way it is already too late. I think you'll understand this :)

@jh5kl - The perfect solution would be to keep the EU and develop our own Commonwealth, i´m not saying we should exit EU, but we are not taking advantage of it in the weak position we have now, for a cooperation to work, in any aspects of life, we must present strenghts that we do not have now, our economy is beeing sold to the central european powers, and our labor is the cheapest in europe, they´ll only want us for our Gold reserves, sunny beaches, cheap labor and sweet public companies.

When was this parade, it looks like its in Paris during their national holiday where they allowed other member state military units to join. (There is no EU army).
For the record, the EU is not a political Union (yet). Member States still decide over the most important matters.
