i got a htc desire hd for abt a week now,,, theres not much lag experienced, battery life is moderate but the camera, 8mp looks shitty in the screen but in the pc, it looks epic, i mean really looks nice. Its processor beat iphone4 in many ways im sure. ppl who never got htc would never know how pro it is. Thats why its, "quietly brilliant"

@robcunny DON'T buy N8 it is a LAG I bought it in January '11 and now thanks God I have sold it, and ordered desire HD which should arrive tomorrow)) I cant say a lot about HD because I haven't used it yet apart from the fact that it is much more faster and responsive and that there are much more apps on the android market than in OVI store. From my experience of using N8 I can say that this is a complete fail, It looks like Nokia did not tested simbian ^3 properly, so avoid it. Good luck!

@nekses To late, have already got the n8, for a great price of 280 euro! Pretty happy with it and the majority of the apps found on the android market can be found in Ovi. Plus the built in FM tranmitter and 12mp camera make such a massive to the phones ability, plus with a 16 gig internal memory you can fit over 50hours of music onto your phone before considering of an external memoery card!

Meida Player is really Crap! and I mean crap, all the settings on my device are all the way up, I'Ve even tried intalling apps in order to provide more volume(Volume Booster) but It does not do a dam thing. The camera is not that fantastic as i thought it would be! It may be an 8meg, but the lengs is shit! I cant believe that I gave up my Iphone4 for this crap! In bright light you cant see shit either. Not Happy

I got one today... I bet it's a really cool phone, but I can't express my regret on the quality of the sim/memorycard cover. I opened the cover as gently as I can, and I managed to crack it! Can you believe how crappy quality plastic it needs to be in order for me to be able to do that? Have not even started the phone yet because I'm waiting for HTC to contact me if this goes to void... If they don't cover it i'll be really disappointed - repairexpences before I press the startbutton :(

@Brammert023 battery is only a problem with all these apps running in the background you don't know about it's crazy, you can download an app that stops all of those feeds like stocks and crap and hidden ones. The battery runs really well with the crap closed, at the end of the day after 1-2 hours of browsing and playing games on full brightness im on 40% battery. just charge it every night

@wafcarl i have the Galaxy S and I know it shits over the iPhone 4 anyday. Although the Galaxy S and Desire HD are quite similar in a way, the 768MB of RAM is the dealbreaker for me. If my Galaxy S can shit over the iPhone 4 anyday, I don't see a reason why the Desire HD can't.

The original Desire was probably not really a good contender to compete with the iPhone 4, but I bet this one is!

However I'm sure it won't be my next phone because my Galaxy S is equally as good (well given that the Desire HD is 6 months newer theoratically it should be better)

The big difference between iphone and other op systems, is ease of use.

Having said that, a lot of people jailbreak the iphone, so removing the ease of use.

The latest phones are great devices and all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

The rise of HTC has been amazing. As with their quietly brilliant slogan, they have slowly but surely built a good reputation, not through wild marketing gimicks and hype but through constantly delivering high quality products that exceed expectations. BUT, now they are on the scene, they not to be careful to have to much of a huge product range. Apple got it right with one phone updated every year, HTC cant do this, but they should restrict their products to one for each category.
