God was displeased because these religions decided how God would be worshipped. It never ceases to amaze me, that most people will look in awe at the universe (rightfully so), but then some of these people, just blindly jump to a conclusion that assumes it must have had some kind of intelligent creator.
While we have a long way to go in our understanding of the universe, so far all the "rocks we've turned over", have not pointed to anything remotely indicating a god made everything.
If anything, quite the opposite has happened as we've grown smarter about the universe.

The Vatican did their own carbon testing on it and concluded it was highly unlikely it was from the time of Jesus Christ. What would the Bible, or any other religious book be without fear, submission, and nonsense stories? Like any other book-deal any nobody signs for instant attention. Second of all i think the idea of the universe being created by God or any other type of intelligent design is much more believable than all of existence coming together by shear chance.

At the end the narrator says something about the vastness of the universe "surely" surpassing human understanding. This kind of grandiloquent talk makes me suspicious of the motivations of the film makers. The sun rising and falling was once beyond human understanding, as was microscopic life, radio waves, DNA, etc. Yet, we keep ogling about things we have yet to explain as if they are unexplainable, and plugging in a god as the obvious filler of the gap.
We STILL do this, even after all we have unlocked so many of the so-called mysteries of the universe. We may very well never achieve an understanding of all things, but in our time on this planet we have achieved an amazing lot of it. To wave our hands at the rest, and casually say that it is beyond our understanding, is pathetically insular and narrow-minded. THAT is what boggles my mind.

I think you'll find this is just known as the "Observable Universe". The universe is thought to be 13 billion years (or so) old; which means if we look to the left, the furthest we can possibly see is 13 billion light years, and look to the right, we see the same.
But most big-bang proponents believe the big bang didn't happen at a point in space (there was no space), but that it happened everywhere at the same time.
Well this subject discussed here is older then any living creature on earth, so we shall never ever fully understand how it all started. Unless we meet some super smart alien creature that 13 billion years away from us either in the future or the past. Untill then, we shall not FULLY understand everything. without faith the religion wouldn't work. The idea is to Believe and have faith that god exists and that Jesus died for our Sins. Not to be Sure that he exists and to Know that he died for our sins. thats how you get into heaven is to not deny the name of god and that his only son died for our sins. It never ceases to amaze me, that most people will look in awe at the universe (rightfully so), but then some of these people, just blindly jump to a conclusion that assumes it must have had some kind of intelligent creator.
While we have a long way to go in our understanding of the universe, so far all the "rocks we've turned over", have not pointed to anything remotely indicating a god made everything.
If anything, quite the opposite has happened as we've grown smarter about the universe.

What is agreed by both the theologian and the atheist is that forces greater than Man created the Universe; the difference is that the God-faring man has at least learned humility, amongst other truths not necessarily of lesser importance than facts. To the second, your statement is irrelevant as I was not attempting to determine the existence of a god but demonstrate a comparison of likeness between theologian and atheist. To the third, your statement is false; metaphysics absolutely exist and are an extremely important aspect of human life--again I suggest better familiarization, with the term _metaphysics_.

I don't know whether or not God exists; neither do you. Your faith in religion is the ability to make a virtue out of not thinking - nothing more. I'm willing to remain open to God's existence, since I can't definitely prove either, but it'll take more than the Bible to convince me. If all I have to go by is the old Jewish book of fairy tails filled with fear, submission, and future promises, then you have to ask yourself one question: What kind of a relationship with God can grow out of that?

At the end the narrator says something about the vastness of the universe "surely" surpassing human understanding. This kind of grandiloquent talk makes me suspicious of the motivations of the film makers. The sun rising and falling was once beyond human understanding, as was microscopic life, radio waves, DNA, etc. Yet, we keep ogling about things we have yet to explain as if they are unexplainable, and plugging in a god as the obvious filler of the gap.

It's the first time I've seen this new version of the "Edge of the universe" video. To be fair, some of the original criticisms have been answered.
But all the religious babble that it entwines itself around... why??? And why don't the creators of this video identify themeselves on it??
I've also got some logic problems with the video: if the universe is infinite, there are an infinite number of stars, an infinite number of galaxies... so what's the deal with telling us their number?

I think you'll find this is just known as the "Observable Universe". The universe is thought to be 13 billion years (or so) old; which means if we look to the left, the furthest we can possibly see is 13 billion light years, and look to the right, we see the same.
But most big-bang proponents believe the big bang didn't happen at a point in space (there was no space), but that it happened everywhere at the same time.

I've thought the same. It's interesting to me that at the atomic level things matter is "small solar systems". I also think that it's a man-made concept of CREATION. As human beings we create beginnings and ends for everything. I lean towards multiple big bangs, and possible even "big collapses", in an infinite universe.
