Been carrying a gerber profile for prolly ten years or longer now. Great knife for the money. And if you do damage or break it. It's easily replaceable.... Working on a custom sheath design to market myself for it. Good video by the way.
Nice video. I have had my gerber profile for quite awhile now and like it. Field dressed two deer with it so far and keep it for that purpose. I have a mora #2 and really like it more than the gerber. Very sharp and pretty tough relatively speaking of course. Good as a backup to my tops anaconda for Bushcraft. Just my 2 cents. Good review bud!
hey... im from boone N.C, but i moved to texas. everybody over here pronounces "Appalachains" with a long A after the L, but everybody i new in north carolina pronounced it with a short A. do people pronounce it like that where you live in the blue ridge mts?
Also: please please please please please do a Gerber Paraframe review :)
I put a nice convex edge on mine, stippled the grips, polished off the finsih off, attached a paracord lanyard and cut a strikerr groove. I like mine allot. I put holes in my sheath for thigh lanyard, melted the edges for extra strength and put a paracord knife strap holder with a compression tie on it.
To add to my comment any knife is better than no knife:) If the Gerber works for you who am I to say it isn't the right knife for you? I just prefer the Mora's myself and have had great luck with them. Good vids keep them coming I/we can always learn new things from everyone out there.
No offense to you but, the Mora knives are awesome for the price! I have owned Gerber's a gave them away. Love my Mora knives:) Inexpensive and and all round super stong and sharp knife.
Do you really think Gerber makes a 20 dollar knife from 440C? Why ever try to guess what steel they used when it's clear you don't understand much about different steels.
@ShotgunHemingway you're right. In retrospect, I shouldn't have guessed at the steel used in this knife, it's the "gerber mystery steel" whatever that is. I usually don't feed trolls, but this time you've made an assumption about my knowlege of steel. I understand more about different steels than you may have guessed from watching a youtube video. I am a certified welder and backyard blacksmith... I may not be a knife geek, but I do have a good working understanding of steel.
@blueridgebushcraft Yeah I guess it makes me a troll because I questioned a error you made. I apologize if I hurt your feelings but if your making an error like that in a public forum like youtube I think you should be a little less hurt if someone points it out. True I did assume you didn't understand much about steels but lets face it you know it's "gerber mystery steel" but in the video you say you think thats 440C. Thats a pretty wild claim for a knowledgeable reviewer to make.
@ShotgunHemingway you didn't hurt my feelings. what makes you a troll is that you watch a video and take one letter (not a word, a letter) and use it as an excuse to make a personal attack on somebody who at least had the fortitude to contribute a video to this "public forum". If a polite person wanted to point out something that MAY be an error, he would have done so without making assumptions about somebody that he doesn't even know. feeding time is over. good luck..
You talk about me making personal attacks however your the one who's
stooped to name calling and impugned my "fortitude". I'm not sure what you mean that I took "one letter" unless your trying to say you meant to say 440A and not C but that's not very fitting with the context of what you said in the video. Remember your the one putting yourself out there. Don't call people trolls if YOUR information is careless.
@ShotgunHemingway You do realize he was guessing what steel he thought it was don't you? He never actually said it was for sure 440c. He said " I think ".
@blueridgebushcraft For $20 and the fact is any knife maker using 440c would put it on the blade to show the quality I have never seen a 440C blade unmarked my guess it is 440a or b or aus 6 or below not trying to be a troll and not saying you do not understand the properties of steel just for the price 440c is not going to happen.
@ShotgunHemingway why not guese i mean you guese in the lotery dont you you dont know what the wining numbers are but you still guese so shut the fuck up
i bought mora triflex and i liked it right off. the blade, besides being insanely sharp out of the box, actually had a few nicks out of it. i didnt think anything of it and i put it away for a couple weeks, i took it back out and where the edge was rough it had started to corode. it doesnt really look like rust but i guess it has to be. now the knife is dull where ever the corrosion is. it is most likely my fault but i was kind of bothered by this. just telling yall what happened.
@tfoshohoe yeah i usually would keep oil on my blades but i messed up, and i guess you cant complain too much about a blade that cost me like twenty something bucks but the nicks still bother me. i have since redone the blade and no problems since.
I have bought Gerber pruducts for more than 25 years and they are extremely good for the money. I have had a Gerber Freeman for ten years and came with a leather sheath but now they come in a nylon sheath. I also own a minnie paraframe and a larger paraframe, both good knives and very sharp. Thanks for the video. Joe Garza
I absolutely love mine. you might want to mod the sheath by adding a tek-lok; I"m thinking about it. Also, the barrel nuts holding the handle together tend to loosen after extended batonning. I used blue loc-tite to seat them and wrapped the handle with some athletic tape for better grip; you could wrap it with cord. Otherwise I have found it to be a true companion in the woods. If I'm gonna need anything bigger I'll bring a machete or an axe.
gerber says the titanium coating is for erosion but i personally dont think you need it on a stainless steel blade but overall i agree with you great knife not so great sheath
I have the Camillus campanion and it is a good knife.I would assume the Becker would be good also.I just found this channel so i don't know the other reviews that you have done but the Ontario/ Rat knives have server me very well also.I also like the Gerber lmf.I always carry my lmf and RTAK2 on me for camping trips.THANKS FOR THE REVIEW!!
Yep... all very good knives. I don't have many reviews up yet, because I think that there are already a bunch of them on youtube, but I do intend to do a few more soon... Probably a couple more knives and a few low-cost firearms that I've really enjoyed. THANKS FOR THE KIND COMMENT!!
heck yea, i love my cheap-o gerber i have been using mine for a few years, your right about the sheath i made one out of leather. this is a great knife for field dressing deer. I like your vids man, im subscribing
Thanks... still no mora... I don't doubt that they're as good as folks say they are, but my primary knife for years has been the KABAR... I've recently got a BK-2 and I'm very impressed with it. Will review it soon.
I think I will get one... I'm looking for an inexpensive but very lightweight neck knife to compliment my new big hurking Becker and I think the mora #2 may be exactly what I'm looking for.
Hello Ed, I have just watched and subscribed to your vid's........I must say that i enjoyed them, and that we kinda think along the same lines...You seem to be a down to earth, next door kinda of guy. And i will continue to watch your videos.I also like that you took your boys hunting. My wife and i both hunt and camp and cant wait untill our 9mth old is big enough to hang with us...........Keep up the good work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i that if u push the knife desently hard into the sheath in will snap into place and wont move it will be tight at first but it will get easyer over time... i appreciate that some one went for this knife and review for all i know me and u are the only ones making vids on this knife ... enjoy your knife and have a nice day :)
I enjoyed your vids, they helped me make the decision to buy this knife. I've seen some other reviews on youtube about it, but I agree that ours are probably the only ones that are geared toward bushcraft.

I cut right out through the side of my sheath. That being said, it's not a bad 20 dollar knife.

Ignore the trolls that bash people based on race, ethnicity and or political affiliation.
They have issues on products not made by people that are of blue eyes/blonde hair and not made in America/Europe.
