The drugs only allow the musicians to shut off the mind in an already insane society...thats why the best writers , artists, and nusic are usually made under the influence, it allows the mind to get in tune w the moment...its not the drugs , but what they allow the mind to do...

I'm glad he's still around. In fact, i can't believe he's still around! He's outlasted a serious number of hippies at this point in our lives and more power to him. I loved his book, too. If I'd known how good it would be I woulda' paid for it.
@GuitarFang he actually plays a cameo role in pirates of the carribean 3, he plays jack sparrow's father and plays a bit of acoustic guitar too. was the best part of the film :)
@possumtail If he hadn't delved into drugs we wouldn't have all the most amazing classics by the stones that he had a hand in writing and performing.
Same with the beatles, Hendrix, led zep, and any other band that did that type of thing. The best writing and playing came through the haze, during the era when drugs were at their best.
Most bands can't play/sing live without backing tapes these days sober. These guys were BETTER because of the drugs and drink
