i'm not sure but i think it also comes with a tooth pick. if i'm not mistaken it might be located near the key ring.

nice knife. great review. i agree if it had a wood saw blade it would be almost my perfect knife evr. oh well i still want one for sure. thx for review. i heard around alot the main purpose of the hook is for parcel carrying, i..e picking up packages with string bindings. for postal shipping/recieving personel? i think i'll get the plus model (more tools) (more = better ?)

It isnt a fishing rod (???) or a hoof cleaner (since theres already a tool for that on the equestrian) but it is a 'multi purpose hook' as it says on the victorinox website. To me its useless but i guess people could use it for reaching bike chains or carrying shopping...

You probably already purchase it, but check out the huntsman version.. This is an explorer and it replaces the saw with magnifying glass and a philips screw.. Your choice though. I'm getting the huntsman. :)

Oh.. In addition to my comment. The hook is for you to carry bags. You basically hold the swiss army with the hook sticking out between your middle finger and married finger and hook it to a bag with strings. It's all good.

No it's ok it's the knife I wanted, I guess I'm getting it today! I want this knife because of its magnifying class, I don't know if I ever have to use a saw - like from the huntsman! But they are both beautiful and good! And I hope they are very sharp,too. : )

The hook thingie is called a parcel hook. The idea is you can hook the cord or wire holding the parcel and carry the item more easily without the string digging into your hand.

I have that same one, its very good. I have had it for about 3 years and i got it from Switzerland with my name ingraved on it. Thats right what you said, its got everything you need exept for a saw, but the saw you dont really need. Its very good, if you want a normal swiss army knife/pocketknife this is the one to get

the hook is actually a "parcel hook"

it's meant to carry packages/parcels that are tied up by twine. its to save your fingers from being pulled on. imagine you were taking in the groceries and those plastic bags pull into ur fingers. same thing... hmm. i guess u can use to bring in groceries too. haha.

Hey man u seem like a cool or good person and i think we should be friends on utube so i'll add and subscribe to u and just to let u know i have a Swiss army (style knife) it's not actully victorinox or swiss army so tht's not cool but it's got excact same stuff and 4 other things like a wood saw, to other strange things but it hasn't got toothpick and hook and tweezers :)

well, i like having the knife big enough to hold easily instead of a tiny knife actually, there are 12 separate tools but 16 different functions if you count all of the screw drivers, sewing eye, wire stripper, etc.

ha ya actually, it closed on me when i was opening all the tools. it shows you how sharp the knife is, as it was not a lot of force and it didnt hurt, proving that it is very sharp

that hook is a parcel hook. you put the hook around the strings of a package, then carry the package using the knife as a handle. you use it so that string does not cut into your hands.
