A very nice tutorial.

You forgot one very important fact, tho. Any type of gunfire shot at the tank, be it pistol, shotgun or MG, slows it down. Thats the main reason the Tank can't keep up with survivors. If not shot at, he even outruns the survivors. Keep it in mind while playing, and fighting against the tank ;]

But to enable to console to begin with:

-Start Left 4 Dead

-Options

-Keyboard/Mouse

-Allow Developer Console (change to enable)

Once done, use your grave key `

(same key that shares ~ typically)

(Traditionally they are to the left of the number 1 on the number row of the keyboard).

Correct, though if you don't have a US or querty keyboard the ~ or ´key won't work so you need to

-add [-console] as a launch optioin in steam => (under properties if you right click the game)

-then it'll open the console, now to bind it to a key just type [bind f3 "toggleconsole"]

True that the music and vibrations lets survivors know that there is a tank around, but it doesn't let them know EXACTLY where it is at. At times I stand still for a few moments to stop the vibration. Which in turn puts the survivors into confusion because most player are just used to the tank running out into the open. They never expect it to attack out of the shadows. As you seen in this video, it ends bad for the tank if it just runs staight at them in the open.

I think the best strategy for tank is stealth. You have to use stealth for your approach towards the survivors. Like in the first chapter of No Mercy, most player just run around the corner of the building and loses half of their health before they even get to hit 1 survivor. I used the landscape for my approach, I climbed on top of the building by a pipe and I dropped down on all of them catching them off guard becuse they were all watching the corner.

Not stealth, there's nothing stealthy about the tank considering if he's close the place shakes and you can hear his grunts. It's like a boomer pretty much. The key is execution. Knowing your surroundings and who to eliminate first.

You can play the tank in versus mode, you will get one tank per map (sometimes 0, sometimes 2, at least 3 in the finale), the game assigns someone who gets to play him.

If you are asking how to open the console and enter the commands at the end of the video, I do not know.

There seems to be a system to it... In the second chapter it's always the player with the highest score. IIRC IF you get one in the first chapter it's the player with the lowest or second lowest score. Can't say the others for sure...

Also wanna add for the people who say "you become a tank if you have the most points" thats not true you become the tank at the end of a chapter..

You may want to add to your guide: Work with the other zombies! Jesus. So many times a tank will rush in and fight right before anyone spawns. A tank going after a blinded, vomited on survivor that's struggling with zombies is just wrong. Likewise, be careful not to smack someone being dragged by a smoker - they're taking a survivor out for you, move on. Last but not least, sometimes it's better to loose control in a no-win situation (and let someone else have it) than cost the team badly.

One such example is...survivors have throw down their molotovs but miss the tank. As you may know, a tank on fire dies after a preset time -irregardless- of health. So even if I may lose control, I'm not going to run through the fire. Because a tank not on fire can do more damage by lasting longer than a tank running around on fire. If that made any sense..hopefully that helps =)

Thanks, it does now. When I posted before I didn't know that you could lose control of it, I'd never had that happen. But it did happen to me trying the strategy in this video. I was throwing rocks and missing and was warned that I might lose control. Got it now, thanks!

As a player that is REALLY lousy as a tank I can say I'm glad I watched this video.

Whenever I get to be a tank I'm so obsessed with killing survivors and getting stressed out by a decreasing rage meter that I make the same mistake the tank does in the beginning of the video.

Obviously, this video is not for you, but I, as inexperienced Tank player (I don't get to be tank in versus often enough to really practice), am really happy I saw it.
