  • Joe will always be epic. See 6:46. No but really, G force wasn't horrible in terms of editing and dub for the times. I just wish Sandy Frank et al left in and or licensed the original Gatchaman theme song as the opening for G-force.

  • @Sielo1ac The Gatchaman theme wouldn't have worked for the approach that Sandy Frank (Battle of the Planets) and Turner/Fred Ladd (G-Force) took towards their respective works. Sandy Frank tried to make BotP otherworldly and spacey in the vein of "Star Wars", hence the Hoyt Curtin theme. By the time "G-Force" was released in 1986, the '70's symphonic Gatchaman score sounded dated in the synth-heavy '80's, and Fred Ladd and co. were gonna remove all of it if not for budget concerns.

  • Never mind, guess this is a dub of the original Gatchaman anime

  • @longliveoakenfold87 The first series I mean.

  • G-Force is the first English dub for Gatchaman II, right?

  • omg...awesome..i used to be in love with dirk...and wanted to be aggie

  • I'm young again!! thanks!

  • Great show! I watched as a kid in the 1990s. Miss it so much, glad I was able to find it on here. Thanks.

  • Hooty, ace, dirk wtf!!! How about mark, jason, tiny, princess etc.. aggie?! Hell naw!

  • @dickliscious its a different version...i think its battle of the planets

  • "Who are you brats and why are you dress in those crazy bird like costumes?"

Um, dude: You're wearing a fucking squid mask and bell bottoms. Pot, meet kettle.

  • Hey?! Who's Aggie? And What happened to Ki-op's speech impediment?! Awe man I been waiting years to hear that again!

  • @Radiumscape Keyop's "speech impediment" RUINED what was originally a pre-teen brat character and a great foil to the rest of the main cast. One of the worst dubbing decisions of all time. If you wanna see that "Battle Of The Planets" dreck then go search for it in the search bar.

  • @SuperAdventures The theme music and character voices and names for G-Force: GoS were all absolutely terrible. Battle of the Planets may have suffered from editing problems, but I think it was a lot more entertaining than GoS. I admit that GoS does have better editing; I think if the best of the two were combined it would be phenomenal.

  • @SuperAdventures Or just be an elitist dick over a show for children. Battle of the Planets and Harmony Gold's ROBOTECH forever!

  • @shrizor Or not bother reading the video descriptions clearly explaining the differences, then whine about how its not the version they remember growing up with on comments, ad nauseum. That, above anything else, is my biggest gripe about these BotP fans.

  • @SuperAdventures OK, I got nothin'. You're right about that.

  • @SuperAdventures I own copies of Gatchaman, Gatchaman 2, Gatchaman F, Battle of the Planets, Eagle Riders and G-Force and I've gotta be honest... Jinpei/Key-op/Peewee/Jimmy/Mickey is pretty inconsequential.

The series are all good for different reason, so why hate on BoTP? XD

  • Was it the earlier version when thier names were Mark, Jason, Tiny etc.?

  • 2:31...

  • @Mayhamsdead There's plenty of that in this show. ;)

  • Cam Clarke here makes me think of Liquid Snake when he was a good guy.

  • "Knock! Knock!" at 2:50

  • Undoubtedly the NVIDIA founders watched this series as they were young :)

  • This dialog is way off, The names are wrong. WTF !! "Hooty" really?! I have the DVDs that were sold in the 80's. The names of the members are Mark,Jason,Princess,Ki-op and Tiny. This is MADNESS!! (in my persian messenger voice from the 300).

  • @lark2borg69 There are 5 versions of this series. The one you have is Battle of the Planets(Mark,Jason,Princess,Keop and Tiny). It is from the Gatchaman series in Japan(Mark,Joe,Jun,Jupei, and Ryu). Then there is G-Force(Ace,Dirk,Aggie,PeeWee and Hootie)Then Eagle Riders(Hunter,Joe,Kelly,Mickey,And Ollie)Then the Gatchaman Ova(Mark,Joe,June,Jimmy,And Rocky).Same characters,Different names.

  • @123hawkgirl Gatchaman, Battle of the Planets, and G-Force were all the same show. Eagle Riders (Gatchaman II) is the sequel. The change from BotP to G-Force confused and annoyed a lot fans. Calling the sequel to the series "Eagle Riders" annoyed and confused fans even more. It came to NA as BotP and it should've remained with that name for recognition. This is partly why Eagle Riders didn't last.

  • @Snapscape I already know that.I was telling @lark2borg69 that they were the same characters but have different names for each show.

  • @MacMaraScott Yup, same voice actor, Cam Clarke (his work on this show predated TMNT by a year though).

  • SHIT !! Music changed, and it stopped being cool

  • g-force should still be on tv it was my favorite cartoon bk in tha day

  • the music is ol school kool fuck yeah

  • The phoenix kinda looks like the SR-71

  • you know the wildest thing about the shows. if you watch gatchaman there way way more langauage in them. and stay frost and kewl. for some reason as e1 points out g-foce seem's to be the hardest one to find. you can see all the gatchaman and Bop on the net. Just can't seem to find to many of g-force so thanks for the uploads.

  • DVD DVD DVD DVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVDDVD DVD DVD NOW!!!!

  • G Force was the shit when I was a little kid growing up!

  • bird missile...it sounds so funny when those 2 words r put 2gether

  • i effin love the continuous BGM! this imo is better than BOTP!

  • wtf... there was no need to say "G Force fly" how gay...lol

  • @landoblu In the original Gatchaman, they both said "bird flight!" before they jumped, so I guess they were going off of that.

  • @SuperAdventures ok coool thnks 4 dat bit off info!!!

  • holy fucka my arse i used to watch this when i was like 6 or somthing my fucking childhood tbh this show wasnt the best but i fuckin loved it oh and for all the DBZ fans out their DB was better my opinion tho

  • Same here rich...same here...

  • Wow, that Aggie's a bit nice.. Good looking, and any girl who looks THAT good in a short dress definitely gets my vote.

  • Nice show and all, yes. But do they need to play the soundtrack almost the entire show? It could get a bit annoying! hahah..

  • @markrosario75 Believe me, the guy editing the show's soundtrack wanted to feature more varied music, but there was such a short production schedule that he was pretty much forced to rush through most of the episodes and fill in silent parts with that techno drumbeat!

  • @SuperAdventures Why didn't he just use the original soundtrack and keep it as is

  • @Feijoada1 Most of the music you hear in this ep IS the original soundtrack from Gatchaman, except for that techno beat you here occasionally. Up until recently, U.S dubbing companies felt the need to fill out any silent moment in a Japanese show's soundtrack, filling every moment with music to "hold the kiddies attention" or "keep the action going". So they'd either do what they've done here with "G-Force", or replace all the old music with new music.

  • @SuperAdventures Yeah I realize that. Thats why I hate U.S. dubs.

DBZ did the same thing I couldn't stand it. The silence in the original shows is there for a REASON. To buid suspense and tension

  • @SuperAdventures who got g force copyrights?

  • @samiam20024 Sandy Frank Entertainment, the same company who previously owned and produced "Battle of the Planets".

  • "the invincible ruby red beam".... stack on top of one anothers shoulder and instantly create a tornado...... man I remember I used to like this show as a kid, now I just feel ashamed and realize who stupid children really are.

  • The original dub may have been bowdlerized, but the dub was so much better than this version...

I'm just glad to have ADV's current dub.

  • LOL the shuffle shimmy he does @7:00

  • holy crap, I vaguely remember watching this show as a very small child during the early 90's on Cartoon Network. Upon seeing this show along with others like Centurions, Speed Racer, and Voltron I can really see why I at the age of ten thought Digimon was decent cartoon. lol, they don't show stuff like this anymore. I almost miss it.

  • @Sturmdude Digimon was crap, just a shit Pokemon rip off.

  • @RichXbox360 to be frank I don't give a flying rats ball sac about what you think is and isn't good.

  • The names I remember when It was Battle of the Planets, Ace was Mark, Dirk was Jason, Agatha was Princess, Pee-wee was Keyop and the Big guy was..wait for it Tiny..LOL

  • me too my friend

  • i think the commander of the robot is voiced by marc smith. he's done a lot of vo for anime such as d in the original project ako, buaku in tank police and ganbachi in ultimate teacher.

  • Ace? Dirk ? wasn't their names in the version I seen , anyway it's a lot of bollocks.

  • AAAAAaaaaahh.....aaaaaaaaaaah.....

  • Is it true that is going to be a Live Action Movie?

  • Amazing, people actually die in this version. And I don't just mean the voice actors' careers.

  • LOL. Cam Clarke (Dirk) and Barbara Goodson (Agatha/Pee-Wee) went on to have VERY successful VA careers, and are still working to this day. Sam Fontana (Ace) is apparently still making a living doing VO work for many commercials, such as on ESPN. Gregg Berger & Jan Rabson (Hooty/Brighthead/Computor) still work here and there (I think), while Bill Capizzi (Galactor) sadly passed away a couple of years ago. Unless you being sarcastic. >_>

  • Shaggy from Scooby Doo was the leader of G-Force (BoTP).

  • seen the game tatsunoko vs capcom coming out and i kept sayin omg those characters look so familiar lmao and ive been searching for like 15min and found out finally, oh the memories

  • Yeah when i got the game and saw them i knew hat show they were from but i knew them as ace and dirk lol

  • Hey! There's something wrong with the invincible ruby red beam!

  • hate the remakes

  • Comment removed

  • nice ass lmao

  • the video game comes to the wii 1/25/10 I've seen it they battle campcom awesome

  • This is the version I grew up on. Had to watch tv over antenna back in 79 was bout 6. So on Sat morning, there was this show that had some cowboy hosting on channel 6 in Augusta Georgia @ 7 am. Had a studio full of kids and this is one of the shows they would show. I found battle of the planets later... but I grew up with this version for 2 years... kind of defined me. Since I couldnt watch star wars over and over at that time. :(

  • sorry, the ones I grew up on were the funny kid named Keop and The white bird was Mark, first run in America..................

  • YES YES YES!!!!!! Those are the ones I grew up on. Mark was the white bird, then Jason was the other guy, Keeop was the little funny one and Tiny who flew the plane and of course Princess. Those are the ones I'm looking for....lol not this Dirk Digler dude or whatever he said his name was,,,,,,,,,lol

  • Me too. That's the version I remember.

  • this crap annoys me...i hate remakes of the shows i grew up on and remember...they fucked up the names with corny ones, gave corny dialogue, hell they took away Keyop's funny noises he made when he talked, and even the "tornado" they did had a name...it was the Whirlwind pyramid"

  • i would like to get the wholeserie... with this audio...... music es awesome...... not like GATCHAMAN dubbled

  • man they already had awesome shows like this back in 1986? i was born in 1988

  • this is the ones with the fake names...ACE, DIRK, HOOTIE...WTF? the original names from the 70's were Mark, Jason, Keyop, Tiny, and Princess, even the voiceovers sound shitty! the 70's Battle of the Planets was what i grew up on, they made this BS and put it on cartoon network.

  • right on

    jelani96

  • Yeah, agree, WTF? did those asshats do to this show?

  • Yeah, without the smoooooth voice stylings of Top 40's Casey Kasem as Mark, this is just not at all cool =-(

"Battle of the Planets" defined me as a kid. --That and (ouch) Space 1999. (Which really doesn't hold up very well anymore.)

  • yeah Casey gave "Mark" a coolness! he was almost too cool be the G-Force leader

  • 1986?

They made this show THAT recently? I didn't realize it was produced much past the 70s.

  • This is a 1986 re-dub, of a Japanese 1972 show that was first dubbed into English in 1978 ("Battle of the Planets").

  • fav line wht are u kids doing dressed like birds lol

  • 5:10 used to scare me!!

I used to have this video on VIDEO :P

If only it still had it =[

  • I loved this show. They don't make 'em like this anymore!

  • invincable ruby red beam hmmm you mean a "ruby Laser beam" man there words are off.but was cool. but the little guys name was Key-op not what it is here.. thats just sounded out sorry.

  • they had the coolest jet...awesome show.

  • Awesomecore!

  • the chick was a hot one...

  • Ok, that looked a bit brutal when those two men fall like 10 stories and then fall out the aircraft, lol.

  • Yup, a scene that (along with almost EVERY scene involving physical contact between G-Force and Galactor's goons) was COMPLETELY cut out of the previous English dub, "Battle Of The Planets", which so many people seem fond of yet was bowdlerized to hell.

  • Back in the 1980's when many people like myself first saw "Battle Of The Planets," this was all we knew of at the time. There was nothing to suggest an original anime was shread to bits.

  • oh yeah iv been loving that scene since my third birthday when my dad baught the vids thinking botp. i thank him for being wrong. took him 12 years to relise his mistake. what about the brutal spiked yo yo to the face.

  • is it me or did they change the og voices wtf is this and the names omfg

  • God, I loves me some Gatchaman.

  • LOL this fight scene was so awesome. Combined with Sentai cliches, 80s animation, and poor screaming, this feels like home.

  • Form whirlwind pyramid!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyways, Gatchaman full episodes are up on Youtube so check the 1st episode of it and compare it to this scene with Jun saying "I'll go because I'm in charge of "dangerous substances" lol (she did not say that at all in the original)

  • Added dialogue was common in English dubs back then. "Robotech" also did this a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if they still did with some English anime dubs today, though not to the extent of most '80's/'90's dubs.

Along with very light editing (most scenes involving killing with firearms or violent deaths, violence between team members) on some episodes, every episode of "G-Force" also cut out 1-2 minutes of "fluff" scenes due to time constraints, mostly unimportant dialogue between characters.

  • Yeah well the original scene just makes more sense when you look at all three versions.

Plus its 105 episodes vs 85 episodes so you're getting the full story.

  • No one knows exactly why only 85 episodes were translated for "G-Force". Perhaps it was the number of episodes needed to syndicate the show. Perhaps (possibly) the final story arc in the last 15 episodes of Gatchaman was too dark/violent to edit around. Major characters DIE. BotP didn't adapt those very final episodes either, but BotP's 85 eps were cherry-picked from Gatch Episodes 1-101, that is 85 of those 101 eps were adapted for BotP. "G-Force" straight adapted Gatch Eps 1-80,82-85 and 87.

  • I know, but what I'm saying is when we were kids, BotP & G-Force was all we knew and we didnt have a choice. Now that since 2005, ADV released fully dubbed and subbed uncut version of Gatchaman we now have a choice. And G-Force came out in 86', By that time, kids were alreadu used to seeingDuke from G.I. Joe, Starscream and Optimus Prime die.

  • they only translated so many episodes because of the "violence" that was during the time where everybody was blaming bad children behavior on tv rather than their parents or themselves. go figure

  • ace, hooty, dirk? i remember key-op,princess,jason,mark and tiny or was that just the british version?

  • No that was Battle of the Planets (70's)

    This was G-Force (80's)

    Then came Eagle Riders (90's)

Gatchaman is the original (1972). Try to look for that one since its not butchered like these

  • I'm pretty sure Battle of the Planets came between Gatchaman and G-Force.

Yes G-Force is toned down for kids, but hey, its what I grew up watching, no internet and anime wasnt as popular then as it is now. So as far as I knew, this was all there was.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt G-Force a little closer to Gatchaman then BotP was?

  • Gatchaman is the original Japanese version that came out in 1972. BotP was the 1st U.S. dub of the 1st season in1978 with 85 episodes

G-Force didn't come out until late 80's but followed the Gatchaman storyline more faithfully than BotP did. Unfortunately the voice acting was worse and the music score was very repetitive (kept using the same rock beat instead of original Gatchaman background themese) and the opening score was not as good as Hoyt Curtin's original BotP opening.

  • The worst dub was Saban's Eagle Riders (which was a dub of the two sequels: Gatchaman II & Gatchaman Fighter). It was a total of 65 episodes, splicing 1978's Gatchaman II's 58 episodes & 1979's Gatchaman F's 48 episodes together shown in full in Australia, but only 13 episodes were shown in the U.S. before it was canceled.

Eagle Riders, like all of Saban's shows, are now owned by Disney.

Now you can buy original Gatchaman uncut and subbed but I don't know about it's 2 sequels being subbed.

  • To each thier own. Like I said, I grew up with G-Force so I have a natural preference to it.

Tried watching BotP, didnt care for it. I'll try Gatchaman again. And yes, I liked the Gatchaman'94 OAV

  • I grew up watching both too. I liked them back then but after watching the original in its Japanese uncut format with subs that is the best.

Anyways cant wait till Tatsunoko vs Capcom comes to the U.S. for the Nintendo Wii and hopefully they'll add online mode so I can play you online and whoop your ass with Ken or Ippatsuman

  • Lol,i'll take you down and out. Shame they might only imclude Ken though, I would be happier playing Joe, or as I would say, Dirk Daring :P I'll settle for Casshern

  • Jun is in it too dont forget and actually they were going to put Joe and Berg Katz in according to a recent article, but they didnt make it in.

Maybe they'll add more characters though, they havent ruled that out yet.

  • The Tatsunoko franchise (including G-Force and maybe Speed Racer as a US exclusive character) will be making a return appearance in the U.S in Tatsunoko vs Capcom this year because Capcom finally got the rights to release the game in America.

    Karas vs Ryu?

    Ken the Eagle vs Ryu?

    Yatterman?

    Awesome

  • They need to add Joe and Katse and an online mode though

  • I remember one episode where G1 fights G2.. cant remember what episode since i was so little.. I always like G2 better

  • this is the best i remember when i was 6 and i used to watch i was hooked like a crack addict i love this show i used to pretend i was part of them

    thanks

  • i used to watch this show

  • THis is the first Episode of the TV show GATCHAMAN, which primiered of TV in Japan in Sept. 1972, when I was 11. Six year later it made it to America as BATLE OF THE PLANETS, and was a huge hit in America. It is the prototype for all the Japanese team superhero shows. It is very cool, and it is the same anime company that did SPEED RACER, which came to America when I was in the first Grade. TATSUNOKO is the company, the Seahorse company that did the animation and layout.

  • i would like to see a movie of it

  • I can't tell whether this is the edit version that came out on cartoon network or the japanese version only dubbed.

  • This is the version that aired on Cartoon Network during the mid-to-late 1990's. It is one of several dubs of the same Japanese anime (Gatchaman), "Battle of the Planets" from 1978 is the first, this one (from 1986) is the second, and ADV's unedited, uncut dub (from 2005) is the third and most accurate one.

  • gatchaman??? then what is tatsunoko? look up tatsunoko v.s. capcom on youtube to see what i mean

  • cartoon network*~*~*~*~*~

  • wow,G-force,another great cartoon series

    i just love it :-)

  • "Gatchaman" (also "Battle of the Planets", "G-Force", "Eagle Riders") is japanese anime series since 1972. "Voltron" is Japanese anime series since 1981...

  • ...and "Voltes V", since 1977

  • YEAH HEH HEH HEH!!! G-FORCE!!!

  • I loved this cartoon. I used to draw that ship when i was a kid lol.

  • Once of the best cartoons ever.

  • "Hey, there's something wrong with the Invincible Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice from Ocean Spray beam!!"

  • I like the battle of the planets voices better

  • I love G-Force! It was my favorite show when I was a kid. I still love it and I plan to dress up as Ace for an art project. ^_^

  • I wanted to go to bed every night and dream about being on G-Force!!!!

  • thanks to Super Adventures for posting this version as well.....

  • watch "0yulka0" channel...it's the original early 70's version....the US version's in the late 70's and again in 86' was a heavily edited version...fight scenes, language, characters being killed, heavy plot lines were all redone because it was seen as too real...the real story lines are the best to see or read that is...Japanese with subtitles...

  • Ace and Dirk? What the fuck happened to the real Mark,Jason,Tiny and Ewok???

  • I was thinking the same thing, except for the swearing part...

  • Ace? I thought his name was Mark

  • Ace is from G-Force and Mark is from Battle of the Planets.

  • OK, I know it's been a long time since I've watched, but isn't G-force on battle of the Planets?

  • dang for an old tv show they have alot of movement imcomparing this to the old scooby dooo(i hate tyhat tv show soooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! much) im still amzed by the movement

  • Wow, I watched this show after school everyday around 79' & 80'. However, the english voice overs on this episode are different from the ones I remember. Thanks for Posting!

  • The Tornado move is still awesome lol

  • o look, a stegosaur robot... SUPRIZE!!

lol... ya, fav. show as a kid also, used to go around acting like mark...could never remember the name so i googled cartoon w/ bird people.

  • childhood memories yaaaaay!!

  • これは日本で放映していた完全版と同じですか?

  • OMG!!! Favorite show as a kid. Have been looking on YouTube for a while for these shows. Could never remember the name. FINALLY!! Memories are back!

  • This is where Sentai, and later Power Rangers, came from. Well, not this per se but the source cartoon Gatchaman.

  • > This is where Sentai, and later Power

    > Rangers, came from. Well, not this per se

    > but the source cartoon Gatchaman.

Waht this show really did was introduce Japanese animation to the West.

  • Thank you soooo much for making this available. I used to watch as a kid. I used to imagine the g-force leaping from tree to tree protecting me as a bus carried me to school! I had a very vivid imagination :-) Anyway, thanks for the wonderful flashback. I would totally buy this if it was available on DVD.

  • So would I!

  • This cartoon is truely one of a kind. I used to watch it as a kid all the time. To bad they didn't come up with the toy firgures. The most unique kids cartoon ever! I'm just glad that I got to be a kid when it came out! Thank you for keeping it alive! G Force!
