  • shaolin monk power

  • 4.4 pounds heavier than Ike Berger and snatched 1.1 pounds more than Berger jerked---wow. Berger's record 336 stood for 8 years but look at things today. Naim's 152.5 at 59.7kg is even better than this 153. For official purposes height to weight ratios are not considered however they do matter. Berger was 63 inches Naim was 59 or 59 and a half max how about this "Kung Fu" lifter?

  • Damn any words of him competing in 2012?

  • theres a video called "shi zhiyong after the beijing games" on youtube and if I got it right, he says in the video that there are other things for him to do, which should mean that he retired after the 2008 beijing olympics

  • hes retired. u never kno wiv chinese lifters-they get depressed, become alcoholics for a month, then come bak and lift like hercules. but i dont c him comin bak-he has a chronic back injury which he can barely train thru. hes only 28 or 29 as wel

  • actually 29 is pretty old for an olympic lifter, sadly, I doubt we'll be seeing Shi again...

  • dang! these chinese lifters are ridiculously strong for their size

  • Size does not matter, olny technique and intramuscular coordiation...look at Halil Mutlu for example.

  • @Shokeybutsi not really necessary to say they're Chinese is it?

  • WOW he is strong!

  • he is so flexible!

  • olympian? i mean, this is a world record right?

  • Does he make any bounce with his legs?

  • when snatching you have to get your balance before you squat also its an easy squat for him anyway

  • This shows clearly that, at this level, the snatching ability depends almost solely from your pulling power.

  • how tall is he?

  • it's about the spirit of sport man.

  • yeah because you're country's perfecttt... right?

    gimme a break.

  • I agree.

  • Stfu newb. Learn to spell.

  • Is it just a coincidence that this person has the prefix used by shaolin monks in his name?

Was he trained there at some stage?

  • Shi is quite common chinese first name. but I wouldn't deny that there must be quite a possibility that he did

  • excellent - anyone know how to send him an email? letter?

  • most americans don't realize that china has great weight lifters, especially in the lower weight divisions.

  • ass to the floor

  • Amazing. How old is this guy and whats his weight??

  • He was born in 1980, so he would have been 21 going on 22. At the time he was 62kg. I think he competed at 69kg in the last world championships.
