  • hey... where did you get that kind of paper? thanks

  • @TestedElk4 You may try the vendors in mysticartpainting com or search Buddha board from Google.

  • I'm looking for a website, book, or anything else that can show me the semi-cursive styles. Could you help?

  • @DallasisaLeo Hi, I have included links in more info section.

Or you may try the Chinese bookstore in Dallas (Richardson).

  • @artvirtue I'm not from Dallas. Dallas is my name :P

    But thank you.

  • @DallasisaLeo Welcome. Dallas is a unique name for you.

  • this looks amazing, this is the kind of style i want mate. grat stuff

  • Thank you for watching.

  • i never thought of using water for practicing on a special paper and black board. this is simply intelligent and marvelous. it saves time for the ink preparation and easier for cleaning afterward. you're right Shakamuni, this is awesome.

  • Thank you for your comment.

Writing Chinese calligraphy with water on the ground, water writing paper ("magic paper"), and "Zen (Buddha) board" saves time for the ink preparation. They are not substitutes. Practicing with "grinded" ink and paper is the fastest way to gain progress since the propensity, density, and characterisitcs of ink and water are different inside the brush hairs and on the paper.

  • Yes i couldn't agree more with your explanation, the grinded ink is the most authentic way to practice Chinese calligraphy. as you pointed out in your website, grinding the ink stick on the inkstone can exercise our hand before operating the brush. i think there's no cut corners in order to success.

    thank you

  • Thank you.

  • Hello, Artvirtue, I'm watching again your excellent work!

I have two questions about it:

    1) You use water over ¿what kind of material? ¿Is it just paper?

    2) You said you are writing in semi-cursive style. Did you mean 行書? I think your style is more like to 草書.

    Nevertheless, I consider it awesome.

  • The water writing board , paper or canvas are made of some special materials. I have no knowledge of their ingredients. Some look or feel like paper and some feel like compounds.

Sometimes semi-cursive styles ( 行書 ) and cursive styles ( 草書 ) share the same ways of writing some characters, and they may be mixed in the same work. Usually they are distinctive styles.

  • For the water writing board videos, I mix semi-cursive and curisive together. I have corrected the title. Thanks for pointing out.

  • this is amazing O:, would you do this Kanji for me? please? (: "金城"

  • Thanks for comment. I will include 金城 in my agenda (this takes some time since both these characters are not easy for their structures.)

  • Thank you (: it means kanashiro, its my last name, very significative (:

  • Excellent!

  • Thank you.
