Pmc's belong to a company, when a country needs something done, they ask a pmc company (blackwater for example) for a ceratin amount of people to go to do this task, so it's very uncommon for pmc's to work with people outside their company. Therefore I highly doubt a white, english speaking Contractor would shoot another white, english speaking contractor.

Hello, I am wondering where (on a map of Takistan) "Proving Grounds"; "Shapur" and "Desert" would be located. I also want to know whether Ardistan or Karzeghistan will be expanded upon in a future DLC or expansion; and whether sometime in the future (when computers can handle it) the entire terrain of Chernarus and Takistan will be playable.
What I would really love to see though is dynamic shadowing of light sources (say within 100m you can see the shadowing) and parallax holosights.

@MashedPotatoes, the XM8 was included in the original ArmA2, so it was probably carried over. It's a fictional PMC in a fictional country, so who say they couldn't have ordered some XM8s from H&K. Some group in Malaysia did. But I would love to see the Remington ACR.
Why is the XM8 being added to the game? It was an experimental weapon project cancelled in 2005. Why not an HK416, or standard M4s or SCARs or a whole bunch of other weapons. Or what about a Remington ACR?
@MashedPotatoes18 Hello, our intend was to equip PMC with some extra unique weapons. Yes XM8 is a never used prototype, but in our Armaversum its ION Inc. who might have an access to such a weapons.
Why not standard M4 and SCAR? Players can use each weapon they found in each mission (i.e. AKs, etc) and keep them to next missions. Its up to you to decided which one is the most suitable.
@ARMA2official I never get seeing the XM8 in all these games. The project got shot out of the sky a few years ago, and had a lot of reliability issues during field testing.
hi there =) i love arma but i wish u would change this: for mp, pls make a better overview for ur teams organisation. something like the squad-and commandersystem in battlefield 2 but with the number of options and possibillities which arma 2 is known for ;) i know the bf-series is arcade-mode. the whole team-organisation ( like squad up, the commander marks attackrouts, lzs and updates those informations on ur map ... ) should be more easily to handle and should be more representative.

Arma 2 is, without a doubt, the greatest military game of all time. It has a shitload of vehicles (and you can add more with mods), a shitload of weapons (and you can add more with mods), you can go anywhere you want, amazing graphics, different countries, and to top it all off it's the most realistic fps (and tps!) to date. Hard to believe mw2 is the most popular shooter when there's a game like arma 2. Thumbs up if you agree.

@doclurchi Such as the weekly beta patches they're putting out? There's been tonnes of fixes and new features over the past months, completely free of charge. I fail to see how having the _option_ to buy a $10 DLC pack with new factions, campaigns and multiplayer missions on top of the constant free engine developments would be a bad thing.

@Russian3600 Hello, Arma games are too complex and require powerfull HW to be played. Simple conversion is not easy and the whole process would require more programming/engine modification imput. I´m sorry to confirm we do not plan any such a conversion in close future.
They have tried once with Flashpoint years ago and it was almost a complete disaster. They had to constantly delay it because of the complexity of the game. You can try Flashpoint: Dragon Rising but that game is honestly for dummies.
If you have a couple of thousand dollars / euros to spare you can get the basic module from BIS i guess. If you want some simulation in the game try ACE 2 mod for ArmA2 / OA.
Oh great..another big step towards battlefield or sth like that..I think they should stop making DLC and start to make patches to bring out stuff that is ready for mil sim and not retarded stuff like that with weapons that aren't even used and models that yu can find in the next best mod for free...for instance the Dessert Mercs and Blackops package.
If you want ths DLC for free download ACE-mod, rh-weapon packs and the dessert merc pack...then you have content that is much better...

Can you guys fix the eyes of the black americans. They are blood shot red in game and in the area for choosing a face thier eyes are closed. Never mind the most of the character look the same. The models from the first ARMA game was better than these. Now the new pilots face from Operation Arrow Head looks like a normal black male model. The others look like ghouls. The game is great, but I just can't stand to play as these black soldiers models, when the models in ARMA 1 where way better.
I'm not talking about whether it is fair or not the price of DLC, just say that we have mods in the community and are free. I see no sense to pay for a group of units, weapons and vehicles when the community is free.
About BIS patches, I think it's great that they update their game every week, but that means that the game was not finished when it was released. But when I buy it I had to pay full price, would not let me pay 2 dollars per week. XD
@mariocornetto I think that would be only fair. Now a days every game that hits the store or downloaded, needs to be patched AFTER RELEASED for a broken product we payed full price for. No doubt the game is good, but how about releasing great POLISHED AND FINNISHED product. Here is one. @mariocornetto I havent seen a game these days that are completely finished tbh. Those games i have (a bunch) all have a series of patches to get the game to perfection.
However BIS goes further than other developers where they can implement a feature/fix that is logical and that many of the players want. If you look at the history you'll see many things done that the players wanted. And the continuous patching is not only to fox bugs but enhance the game further which i think is real nice.

@mariocornetto I do understand what you mean with free addons. Trust me ive been with BIS products since the start (some 10 years), and this discussion has been around ever since. That why would we pay when the community can make addons for free. And sure it does divide a bit by those who cant buy the DLC and thus cant join servers that run it, but it is a small fee for good quality units, vehicles, weapons, island and campaign. It also keeps BIS busy evolving and fixing the engine im sure. :)
@i7fan Actually, BIS releases a patch, synchronised with the release of any DLC, which enables everyone to join servers, regardless of premium content.. you can't really ask for much more than that.
At no time have said that the mod can change the engine and of course can't be cashed. Also say that I admire the work of Bohemia, and giving support to its products and many companies do not. I just give my opinion and I don't want to see my favorite game turned into another COD with DLCs.
@mariocornetto It might just get fluenced with story. But the story will stay real like it could happen as it was in flashpoint and arma and the gameplay will be still like war simulator even that those guys wear jeans and shirts.
For those people whining that they should "fix and polish" the main game instead of make DLC... the DLC is PAYING for those fixes and that polish. They can't do it for free you know. Creating games these days is a huge expensive process, even supporting them. Be lucky we're even getting content this long after the game shipped, most developers would be onto the next sequel by now due out before Christmas that adds all of 2 new things to it and is charged at full game price.

I know everyone always wants to portray PMC's as semi-civilians with normal clothing + a vest and a headset, but this is just getting lame -.- I mean even I can get something that looks more tactical than that for a cheap price, legally too! @Wojof Hello, unfortunately not, Arma 2: Private Military Company is a digital download only at the moment. However the plans for next year are not finished yet. It would also depend on local publisher.

@KKOPPI Ok. maybe it didn't get well for you to try it, but that doesn't mean that the game is overall bad, actually there are lots of who play and enjoy it. I don't go to videos about Modern Honors of Medal Warfares, Flight SimX and FIFA games and tell that those suck because I can't enjoy to play with them (also I don't think they suck just because I don't like them).

Arma 2 is, without a doubt, the greatest military game of all time. It has a shitload of vehicles (and you can add more with mods), a shitload of weapons (and you can add more with mods), you can go anywhere you want, amazing graphics, different countries, and to top it all off it's the most realistic fps (and tps!) to date. Hard to believe mw2 is the most popular shooter when there's a game like arma 2. Thumbs up if you agree.

call of arma? no thanks. whats next? dlc for hats and red noses? how about if you (bohemia) improve the things which are already there but still bugged? how about an overhaul of the ingame menu? how about some simpified mechanics for mission designers? how about some engine improvements to stabilize the fps? how about optimizing the netcode? for that i would pay another 20 bucks but not for visual crap which is done by the community way better then by you.

@doclurchi Such as the weekly beta patches they're putting out? There's been tonnes of fixes and new features over the past months, completely free of charge. I fail to see how having the _option_ to buy a $10 DLC pack with new factions, campaigns and multiplayer missions on top of the constant free engine developments would be a bad thing.

@Russian3600 Hello, Arma games are too complex and require powerfull HW to be played. Simple conversion is not easy and the whole process would require more programming/engine modification imput. I´m sorry to confirm we do not plan any such a conversion in close future.

They have tried once with Flashpoint years ago and it was almost a complete disaster. They had to constantly delay it because of the complexity of the game. You can try Flashpoint: Dragon Rising but that game is honestly for dummies.

If you have a couple of thousand dollars / euros to spare you can get the basic module from BIS i guess. If you want some simulation in the game try ACE 2 mod for ArmA2 / OA.

Oh great..another big step towards battlefield or sth like that..I think they should stop making DLC and start to make patches to bring out stuff that is ready for mil sim and not retarded stuff like that with weapons that aren't even used and models that yu can find in the next best mod for free...for instance the Dessert Mercs and Blackops package.
If you want ths DLC for free download ACE-mod, rh-weapon packs and the dessert merc pack...then you have content that is much better...

Nice! I still think that the makers of this are on the edge to build the best Wargame so far , the graphics are awesome and if there will be nice WW 2 Mods etc. it could be "perfect" one day ! I do hope they'll keep up the good work and this don't ends like for ex. Silent Hunter 5 ! ArmA 2 and OA is epic!

Can you guys fix the eyes of the black americans. They are blood shot red in game and in the area for choosing a face thier eyes are closed. Never mind the most of the character look the same. The models from the first ARMA game was better than these. Now the new pilots face from Operation Arrow Head looks like a normal black male model. The others look like ghouls. The game is great, but I just can't stand to play as these black soldiers models, when the models in ARMA 1 where way better.

I'm not talking about whether it is fair or not the price of DLC, just say that we have mods in the community and are free. I see no sense to pay for a group of units, weapons and vehicles when the community is free.
About BIS patches, I think it's great that they update their game every week, but that means that the game was not finished when it was released. But when I buy it I had to pay full price, would not let me pay 2 dollars per week. XD

@mariocornetto I think that would be only fair. Now a days every game that hits the store or downloaded, needs to be patched AFTER RELEASED for a broken product we payed full price for. No doubt the game is good, but how about releasing great POLISHED AND FINNISHED product. Here is one. When are these guys going to fix the BUG with the eyes of the AFICAN AMERICAN EYES being closed during choosing a face and the in game characters eyes being blood shot red?

@mariocornetto I havent seen a game these days that are completely finished tbh. Those games i have (a bunch) all have a series of patches to get the game to perfection.
However BIS goes further than other developers where they can implement a feature/fix that is logical and that many of the players want. If you look at the history you'll see many things done that the players wanted. And the continuous patching is not only to fox bugs but enhance the game further which i think is real nice.

@mariocornetto I do understand what you mean with free addons. Trust me ive been with BIS products since the start (some 10 years), and this discussion has been around ever since. That why would we pay when the community can make addons for free. And sure it does divide a bit by those who cant buy the DLC and thus cant join servers that run it, but it is a small fee for good quality units, vehicles, weapons, island and campaign. It also keeps BIS busy evolving and fixing the engine im sure. :)

@i7fan Actually, BIS releases a patch, synchronised with the release of any DLC, which enables everyone to join servers, regardless of premium content.. you can't really ask for much more than that.

At no time have said that the mod can change the engine and of course can't be cashed. Also say that I admire the work of Bohemia, and giving support to its products and many companies do not. I just give my opinion and I don't want to see my favorite game turned into another COD with DLCs.

For those people whining that they should "fix and polish" the main game instead of make DLC... the DLC is PAYING for those fixes and that polish. They can't do it for free you know. Creating games these days is a huge expensive process, even supporting them. Be lucky we're even getting content this long after the game shipped, most developers would be onto the next sequel by now due out before Christmas that adds all of 2 new things to it and is charged at full game price.

Dude, flannel-shirt and jeans in a desert warzone? I know everyone always wants to portray PMC's as semi-civilians with normal clothing + a vest and a headset, but this is just getting lame -.- I mean even I can get something that looks more tactical than that for a cheap price, legally too! There's also quite a few companies out there that sell security/military gear/clothing, how come the majority of mercs portrayed "realistically" are still wearing civilian clothing?
