  • is the school really for praying mantis? cause the calligraphy art in the background says Hapkido

  • @dragon877 It's aikido isn't it?

  • @MrQuackism

very possibly lol in Chinese both arts have the same exact name....im fairly positive the two arts are deeply inter-related

  • @MrQuackism not at all or in the slightest. as far as im aware the is a best a very distant connection between the two arts. if you go compare between the two youll notice that aikido use much larger throws and circles so as to be less damaging and dangerous to both parties. six harmonies mantis is somewhat more direct and offensively oriented.

  • I like how the guy is already falling down before he even touches him hahah this is almost as bad as pro wrestling.

  • @washappnin ur dumb and the new pro wrestling of the day is mma. these types of old Chinese arts r more bad ass then u could ever know.

  • Yes, praying mantis is very powerfull with throws and locks along with low kicks the same time! Really nice style

  • Master Hu has incorporated Mantis with Shuai Jiao techniques

  • This doesn't look like praying mantis or any kind.

  • Then you don't know what you should be looking for. Did you expect him to just dance around and wave his hands like a mantis in the air, or did you expect him to actually grab someone?

It's definitely throw-heavy, but I think that might be because its a commercial. Throws are visually appealing and you can do a lot of them at a good speed without looking like you're choreographing them.

  • pardon me, what style is the praying mantis?

  • praying mantis is a style of kung fu. kung fu is based on animals and nature. Mantis usaully uses fast hand strikes and wrist lock with sweeps, from what i can see at least, i am not an expert.

  • Um... yes it does. Do you have any experience in Chinese martial arts? Northern Mantis is famous for its Chin Na and throwing techniques.
