In the newest verizon fios commercial, one of the actor says "I can see the rotation of the baseball." How the fuck can you see the rotation of the baseball????????????
@therongdoer Sorry, Sunrise meter shows rF coming out of the ONT @ 20db high. The meter is too dumb to lie to me.... This is why I must remove crappy amplifiers that cable installed(more or less because they are too friggin lazy to extend the coaxl cables with couplers and get rid of all the cable splitters in the house except the one needed) so the signal is not too high. The Motorola and Cisco STB's run best between +11 and -6 db.
I have FIOS in New York. I get the 35/35 symmertrical package. I think they also offer 50/20... But I thought it was overkill. Heck, 35/35 is overkill... lol
@Autophage Shows a lot about Fios tech support... Lol. They offer for residential now 50/20, or 150/35... I would know... It's on their website.... Haha. It's one thing to say something and be wrong, but its another to go about it in a cocky way, "I would know. I'm a FIOS tech support." like your putting me down. Congratulations, your a tech support, I still probably know more than you and I'm not a FIOS tech support agent... lol
@jctevere "but its another to go about it in a cocky way"......"I still probably know more than you and I'm not a FIOS tech support agent... lol",,,,,,,Bwahahahahahaha
@joeyhol75 Lol, I just wanted to make sure that you knew I was cocky on purpose. I've learned that the best way to have someone learn a lesson is to give them a dose of their own medicine.
In Australia are fastest Internet (that I know of) is in Sydney and Melbourne with Telstra Bigpond at 30Mbit/s Cable. I've got 1.5Mbit ADSL atm cause I live in a rural area but I can get the 20Mbit ADSL2+ but it's exspansive or I can go wireless with Telstra Next G at 21Mbit/s but I can't wait for the Australian Government to finnish the deployment of the 100Mbit/s Fibre Optic Network
i got Extreme DSL 6.0 from AT&T for 3 years now and have NEVER had a problem. Always a steady connection, and i rarely get less than 5.5MBs every time i do the speed test and usually comes back at 6.3mb or 5.8 depending on the time
Maybe phone-companies aren't that bad. Up in Canada, we have Rogers Cable HD service & i must admit that some of the HD Channels are very unreliable. rogers Cable really has no competition here in Mississauga, Erin Mills. Except for satellite, but Rogers knows that my mom doesnt like the idea of another satellite system being installed.
In canada, our fastest internet speed is 25mbps on Shaw and it's only avaiable in like in BC and parts of Toronto and hamilton and costs 93.00 a month with a cap. It's terriable!
Verizon, you are so bad, you got kids showing there interest in your shitty service, when that was originally an interest like mine, but it was and never will be with Verizon.
VERIZON has service for this house, but not for my friend down the road.
Cable has and been done had, service for everyone.
Don't go to verizon, just because they left there company, doesn't mean you have to leave your company to go with them.
Actually I wear my IBEW Local 827 shirt when installing FiOS! The only guys wearing verizon shirts like that are management. What kills me is I install Verizon FiOS everyday but live in an area serviced by embarq. So... I have no land line, crapcast for internet, and dish for TV. If FiOS was in my area I would get it with out thinking twice!
What's up with Verizon using this Chester the Molester FIOS guy trying to lure this kid into his white van with hight tech TV equipment instead of candy. Do Verizon really think they're gonna sell FIOS with this campaign? This commercial creeps me and my wife out everytime we see it. Bad choice. Next episode of To Catch a Predator is gonna feature the Verizon Tech guy for sure.
I must admit, when I first saw this commercial I was really disappointed. I mean, growing up in the 70's and 80's with all the classic 'kid' commercials (Life's Mikey, the O-S-C-A-R Mayer kid etc.) this one really fell short with the 'nice truck' line. The follow up commercial was very good, however.
2 ... am I the only one who thinks it's wrong to let your 6 year old hang out with the cable guy who has "A nice truck" I bet he has candy in his pocket too ... especially the second commercial where the father just sits there reading the paper.....
Yeah seriously buddy, it's just a commercial... plus I had FiOS TV and Internet installed the other day and I love it. People try Verizon FiOS it's just great.
More ways Verizon misleads it's customers by throwing terms most customers don't understand. Verizon should be ashamed of their BS marketing tactics. Sadly, people will be fooled by it and pay for their mediocre service. Both the kid and the "tech" in commercial the should get hit by a truck a suffer long excruciating deaths.
lol wats really funny is that i was at whole foods and there was a bf and gf and they looked at my little brother funny(like just thinking he was cute) but then they came up to my mom and was like IS THAT THE LITTLE BOY IN THE VERIZON COMMERCIAL?!?!?! and my mom was like..no..and they were like u should really see that commercial!!! He kiiks just like that lil boy!!! lol
So 20db hot would blow up a tv. TVs read from 0db to -20db. But I am not sure what they are putting to the house since they probably are not using analog techniques to distribute the signal but rather ip techniques.
Sorry Jeremy, but I believe you're wrong. "True QUAM" is bullshit when discussing digital transmission over fiber optics. QUAM is an analog technique, and therefore is meaningless for FiOS. Just nonsense verbiage put in this crappy add to sound swell.
Also, the guy talks about how FiOs uses "three different spectrums of light" which is totally wrong. There is only one spectrum of light. Fios uses three different frequencies to transmit.
Funny, I thought I was the only one that picked up on this - 3 spectrums! As if the inaccuracy wasn't bad enough, would it kill the guy to say "spectra"?
You're wrong. QAM (no U) can be used for both digital and analog data transmission. Rather than get into it in the limited space available here, just put 'quadrature amplitude modulation' into Wikipedia.
I agree with the incorrect use of 'spectrums' rather than 'spectra'. 'Wavelengths' would have been a better word.
Even if QAM is correct, the tech's use of the term, "it's true QAM", is lame. What, as opposed to fake QAM?
WRT 'spectrums,' the most common way to have referred to it would've been "3 different frequencies", which of course is the same as saying 3 different wavelengths.
All this aside, I think we agree on the bottom line. The ad reeks of a moronic marketing person asking an in-house techhie for some "cool technical terms to use in an ad", then running with those terms without a clue.
Perhaps you missed the second commercial. In the first one it looks like the information is going over the kids head, but in the second spot he repeats all of the tech info to his Dad, showing that he was actually taking it all in. Pedantic niggling about the script aside, I think they're clever and cute spots.
"Nice Twuck". Man that kids got somethin goin!

If verizon actually cared about making this service a standard, they would continue deploying it around the nation.
Its irrelevant when it does not cover a majority of the populated area of the USA.
