Tobin, I don't know the details but I think the patch fixed all the menu problems and other inconveniences in the game. I didn't experienced any of your complaints about the game except for the inability to compare equipment stats in store.
Also, I understand you haven't been playing much PC RPGs for a while, but the default key assignment is very easy to guess. For instance, each menu screens can be brought up by pressing the first letter of names of each menu screens.
I've never played Chrono Trigger before, but from what I understand, it is one of the most well made JRPGs of all time. My question is, does the story and role-playing elements of the game hold up against classic western RPGs like Planescape Torment or Baldur's Gate series? In my opinion, the story and RP system of the first Witcher is on par with these two titles. But what about Chrono Trigger?

so i played witcher, just to see whether its not like the first game anymore where the combat was just ... well now its just way better and much more fun to play. The controls in this one has definitely improved. Though its set an a medieval period it isn't boring at all. its kinda political, and the graphics is awesome. HD cleavage!!
if l>a noire was too easy for you than try turning up the difficulty also heavy rain wasnt difficult becuase it was impossible to fail aswell also about the guy changing did u finish the game. also the problem with heavy rain and being able to continue the game if people die are that there are major plot holes

Hey guys, I'm ridiculously happy that you mentioned MOTHER 3. I've been a noobtoob fan for what, it's been 3-4 years now? Jesus. Anyway, you guys need to play that. It's really one of the best video game experiences any system has to offer. Don't ignore it, you'll be missing out on one of the best games of all time. Great characters, fast paced yet emotionally dense story, creative combat system, fantastic music, hilarious character designs, etc. MOTHER 3 is a must play.
The Witcher 2 has a beautiful manual, Tobin. :( I feel like I remember you complaining about developers not putting the time into the stuff that comes with a game.

I heard that you can get different endings in cases in L.A.Noire, for example arresting the completely wrong guy, if you fail to catch people's lies and other things like that. But actually failing them is really hard.
I have to say, it's really appropriate to go out with Chrono Trigger. That game is amazing even to this day. It holds up better than any game I have ever played, and this is coming from someone who routinely goes back and plays games from the 80s....
LA Noire tip: Always pick lie first, because you can back out of it, usually the accusation and rebuttal will be enough to figure out what clue you may need.
About five minutes into The Witcher 2 I realized that it was meant to be played on a console - so I plugged in my xbox 360 controller and it worked great! If you have a wired xbox 360 controller I recommend trying that! Great show guys, I'm going to miss you! Yow!
@TheCubanGringo Really? I'm honestly still playing it with my controller... First time I saw the radial menu it was obvious it was meant for a controller, wasn't it? The combat system is also very console-action-game-like and you don't even use the mouse and keyboard to it's fullest when playing, you still have to face the loot and press a button (typical console games), if it was truly a pc game you would've just needed to click the loot with your mouse. etc etc
As much as I love you guys, you guys need to play more terraria to fully understand that its nothing really like minecraft.... Underneath it, there is much more to it.
I hate to burst your bubble guys, but there's configuration menu for Witcher 2 where you can easily map keys.
You two are obviously the "new generation" gamers who need pads and sticks to enjoy a game.

Fair warning guys. Chrono Cross is a terrible game. Just take your experiences with Trigger and hold them dear. Ignore the fact that Cross was ever made. They changed SO much from what made Trigger the amazing game that it is.
Too bad you guys wont continue by using Skype or something to record video and audio, then edit them to be side-by-side like a splitscreen game would look.

i love witcher and i love your review of witcher :D mainly becouse i've played the shit out of the first one and readed all the books and never really thought how hard it must be if you play the second one and dont know anything about it. Spels are just named and you have no idea what they do, buttons are hardly told and sometimes a quest is near imposible to do without a mix of herbs for a potion that helps, for example: see bloodtrails.
Chrono Trigger is the best JRPG game ever. When you were talking about I felt so glad. I bought CT a long time ago just because it looked fun and it was the first jrpg I ever played. It was so good I started buying every JRPG I could find and I ended up selling them all after playing them for a few hours.

I have to say, it's really appropriate to go out with Chrono Trigger. That game is amazing even to this day. It holds up better than any game I have ever played, and this is coming from someone who routinely goes back and plays games from the 80s....

About five minutes into The Witcher 2 I realized that it was meant to be played on a console - so I plugged in my xbox 360 controller and it worked great! If you have a wired xbox 360 controller I recommend trying that! Great show guys, I'm going to miss you! Yow!

@TheCubanGringo Really? I'm honestly still playing it with my controller... First time I saw the radial menu it was obvious it was meant for a controller, wasn't it? The combat system is also very console-action-game-like and you don't even use the mouse and keyboard to it's fullest when playing, you still have to face the loot and press a button (typical console games), if it was truly a pc game you would've just needed to click the loot with your mouse. etc etc

I hate to burst your bubble guys, but there's configuration menu for Witcher 2 where you can easily map keys.
You two are obviously the "new generation" gamers who need pads and sticks to enjoy a game.
Because of millions of [insert whatever you want here] like you, too many games are made with broken control system, because 99% of new games for PC are (bad) console ports.
And yes, we "PC snobs" pride ourselves in having higher computer skills than "insert disc"!

@PeterTheEater Give them a break, they don't have all of the time in the world to do their actual jobs, do whatever else they need to do, and then play through all of the games they have to review in about a week. They're not going to dedicate all of their time, generally, to playing and researching ONE game.
I have NO problem with people expressing their opinions, what I do have a problem with is people being, as I said, pretentious douches, in doing so.

@PeterTheEater I never claimed to be a "die-hard console fan." Yes, I play console, but I play even MORE PC games nowadays.
Their argument wasn't even that the games on PC are worse than those on console, or that they have inferior control schemes. Their argument was that for the ONE GAME, Witcher 2, they felt like it would be easier to play on console because he was unaware of the key binging changing.
I'm done arguing with someone who's going to make such ignorant comments, like you are.

Fair warning guys. Chrono Cross is a terrible game. Just take your experiences with Trigger and hold them dear. Ignore the fact that Cross was ever made. They changed SO much from what made Trigger the amazing game that it is.

i love witcher and i love your review of witcher :D mainly becouse i've played the shit out of the first one and readed all the books and never really thought how hard it must be if you play the second one and dont know anything about it. Spels are just named and you have no idea what they do, buttons are hardly told and sometimes a quest is near imposible to do without a mix of herbs for a potion that helps, for example: see bloodtrails.

Chrono Trigger is the best JRPG game ever. When you were talking about I felt so glad. I bought CT a long time ago just because it looked fun and it was the first jrpg I ever played. It was so good I started buying every JRPG I could find and I ended up selling them all after playing them for a few hours.
