Yeah great song and that solo is fuckign classic. but so is the fuck up in the 2nd verse lol. i cant find a kane robberts vs silvester stalone montage on youtube =o i might make one
Its been said before but i think you gotta talk about two alices...the guy from the 70s and then everything after that and his work with Kane is some of the most aggressive ever so i gotta say i love it! Alice's sly and full throated vocals on Raise Your Fist and Yell literally blew me away. Also, Kane's solos on prince of darkness, roses and freedom are masterful. I just read Kane's interview on his site about his time with Alice and it was completely humble.
I don't like Kane Roberts, only one solo that left me breathless was the one in 'Roses on White Lace', I think one of the greatest heavy metal moments in the history.
@DreamInTheMagma Yeah, Kane was probably the worst guitarist to ever work with Alice. But both Constrictor and especially Raise Your Fist have some great moments.
@Eliskoopa You're right. Not that I don't like the music, especially 'Raise Your Fist and Yell' is one of my favourite albums recorded during Alice's solo career. But I don't like Kane's attitude and his (awful) ego. I think he shows more of the muscles and less of the skills I expect from Alice's lead guitarist. Well, I think he's a very good guitarist at his style and he did some great stuff on these two albums but he is egoistic and selfish.
Marilyn Manson sucks. Alice Cooper doesn't even like him. He's a discriminating bible bashing freak. Unlike Alice who's in the top three artists of all time.
@Rangerhalt1 And they also worked together the same day to do sweet dreams. If Alice cooper didn't like him he wouldn't have done one song, let alone two.
Can someone please tell me what the significance of the crutch is? I'm dying to know. If he decides to keep touring 19 years fro now, and he changes the lyrics to "I'm 80," I can see it, but what does an 18 year old need with a crutch?

@wildmandjp It's not always a crutch you know. It's usually a cane or some sort of staff-type thing. I think it's a reed or one of those torture sticks.
im so excited i cant wait to go to his concert oct 10th with rob zombie and murderdolls its gonna be amazing! i just cant believe their actually coming to my hometown no one ever comes here lol
@guitarplayer1338 I got my tickets to the Halloween Hootenanny here close to KC in the independence event center. Its kind of a smaller venue so it should be even more kick @ss.
@kcjeff73 Really hoping he plays Black Juju and the ballad of Dwight Frye. Very fitting songs for a Halloween show and there probably my favorite Alice songs as well.
This what Alice said in an interview, about his new album !!
"Ten songs are written already. It’s going to be called The Night Shift. The concept is, it’s a really dark radio show where I’m the disc jockey, and every song I play will be by a different fictitious band. At some point, you’ll realize this disc jockey is a little bit more than that. And I’m sure there will be some kind of a twist ending."
great performance, love alice! i like the metal twist they gave the tune, but i still love the original track, the tone he had in the 70s was awesome.

I think those lyrics are one of the best-written. After 40 years, people of 18 years old still fell the same things, and those lyrics tell those things. I now it, I'm 18, and I don't know what I want.
why do people find it necesary to constantly insult justin bieber. i do agree that he is talentless but what does that have to do with you you dont have to listen to him

Pretty good guitar solo but you really need to hear the solos that Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter did on the live version of this song from "The Alice Cooper Show" cd.
92% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Pop.If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos.
When I first watched The Nightmare Returns DVD and first saw him bust down that cage, I was like "HOLY SH!T! IT'S THE OUTFIT HE USED DURING THE KILLER TOUR!" Hahaha, yup the outfit he wore here, especially the leather one-piece, is my favorite stage outfit of his. I wish he still had this body so he could wear it again.
@jokeris1 I'm sorry. Not Killer Tour. I remember watching an old video of the Alice Cooper group playing School's Out and there were bubbles everywhere. He wore this same exact leather outfit. LOL
They don't do music like this anymore! Twenty years ago - when you couldn't change your voice in a computer - they did real music with real talents - as Vincent Firnier!
They used AK's in Vietnam, this song is full of symbolism of why he wrote it in the beginning. Eighteen was the age you could be drafted and that meant tour of duty in Vietnam! I remember well. Thanks Alice for putting into song what so many could not express during this time. Many young people have no idea what your songs really mean, history does not teach you much on the Vietnam conflict. Had to be living in this time in the real. Keep listening Alice is the real deal no Manson without Alice!
He clutches the crutch in this song because this song was written about the draft during the Vietnam war! Always has held the crutch doing this song. I remember when this was 1st released and everyone watching the tube to see if their number was drawn for the draft! I hope that answers your question. Dude! That's a badass machine gun guitar! Why Alice holding a cruch? There were a couple times where I thought he was gonna throw it into the audience!
The crutch is symbolic of not being fully independent yet as you've been a child all the way until 18. At 18 he wants to get rid of the crutch of dependence but can't quite do it since dependence is all he's known. It's what the song is about.
@aswizzle His only good song? what do you live in a cave? this isnt even his biggest hit, (might have been his first hit but was not his biggest) what about Schools out? No more Mr Nice guy? Welcome to my nightmare? I do dissagree that he is the "father of Kiss" since his first hit was in 1971 I woudl consider them more contemporaries, but Rob Zombie? Marylyn Manson? Even bands like Slipknot, yes they definitely owe their careers to Alice Cooper
Great song ! All time classic BIG master Alice Cooper, but..........WHAT DOES HE DID WITH THIS EXTREMELY FUNNY 'KANE ROBERTS' IN HIS LINE UP?????? HE COULDN'T FIND ANY OTHER GUITARIST ?? GOD, this is Alice Cooper, he could have ANY guitarist he wanted. A REAL one !!....
I saw this show in Green Bay in '87. I was shocked at how few people were actually present. (Weeknight) Tesla was the opening act. I remember Alice "cutting" the Rambo-guitar-guy's arm with a stunt sword and running a guy through with a mic-stand. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the mic-stand victim was the lead singer from Tesla. I could just imagine the opening band members backstage fighting over who got to be impaled by Alice every night!

Gotta agree. Way underrated. Even had a good ballad or two (Only Women Bleed, You and Me) ... in addition to all the great rockers.

@ronwell438 Yeah no shit. They had some real talent. Especially with Kip Winger.
Alice started it all, plain and fukkin simple!

Watch closely for Kip Winger on bass guitar. Just before he went solo.

That Rambo guitarist is 3 times bigger than Cooper.
