In order to become a full marine battle experience isn't needed, but each neophyte must be possesed by a Daemon...and cast it off. Only by overpowering the Daemon that posseses them are they shown the warp through a Daemon's eyes so that they may learn its closest secrets. Eldar Harliquins go through the same ordeal to be allowed entry into the black library.

In any case, I've never heard of a Space Marine who even seemed to exhibit any sex drive. To be honest, I've never understood why people say they're genetically modified. They're not. They receive implants and such, but the DNA of their original tissue is never changed.
