So is it the same motor as a banshee? I mean besides whatever you bored it out to ect..I know yamaha made 350 2s street bikes but it is a twin and i wonder how much the motor differs from a banshee 350 twin?

I was wondering if the the crank halves had been lightened, the revs come up and go down so quickly, I owned a 84 rz-350 (wish i never got rid of it!) With all kinds of mods>ported, carbs, pipes, ign, reeds,milled head, and a lightened and stuffed crank. I must say the crank mod truely made mine wicked.

@martyn500 A few years ago, a guy in SoCal took a Yamaha 250 TZR and made a street legal bike out of it. I know some info about him, but, he wants to keep his "tricks" private, so I won't divulge anymore about him. He had to rig a battery for the lights and other items, but he did it. The bike ran 11.07 at 122 mph in the 1/4 and had a top speed of 138. The motor was stock except for some polishing, jetting and good pipes and a light rider. No stock 4 stroke under 750cc could match this, to date.

@thecrazyhenchman Yes, I've seen a Wankel, I owned two and built an early 70's RX3 SP for racing. I know all about them. I'm a huge fan, they somewhat fall under the same stupid rulings as the 2 stroke does. In that it never gets a chance to run fairly. These are assanine rules. HOWEVER, that does not account for the fact that cc for cc, it does not make the same horsepower and torque as a comparative stroker does. A 700cc rotary race bike made 140 tops for power. A 500 2 stroke made almost 200.

This comes from 2 pistons about the size of 2 beer cans. Where else can you get that kind of power to weight ratio and more importantly, that kind of power per cc? Nowhere other than a 2 stroke. We need to do what we can to save/preserve this once great engine, before the greenies kill it with the help of the gov't. Fight for them, support companys like ours, who fight the good 2 stroke fight!!!

I dragrace 2 stroke 500 single and best time to date is 10:38 @ 124mph but know there is more in it with gearbox ratios!

hiya gearbox ratios are standard yamaha ypvs. staight cut primary gears with billet clutch.lock up clutch cooling is water pump through cr125 radiator everything painted black for better cooling hope this helps good luck john

The oil isnt bad anymore, its the gas lol. But yeah, you pay just as much for 2 stroke racing oil as you would for a nice lubed up 4 stroke oil and lucas.

It's NOT really an RD 350.. it's a Banshee 525CC motor. It's got RD350YPVS cases but that's about it! It also helps that John has a lot of experience and is a great rider too.

its around 130 bhp. but in drag racing its not about bhp. its about the torque curve where the maximimum torque is and matching that to gear ratios and the clutch, the weight ... and a whole load more.
