  • wow why so much anger from the trolls? As far as I see it....this is a pretty good example of american dance. A whole bunch of colors and cultures all a mix and made into something a little different. Of course RB is talented but we all know that

  • ich meine die videoqualität!

  • scheissqualität. wer stellt sowas ins netz?

  • she is the greatest bellydancer *_*

the way she moves is awsome

    hot hot

  • I adore Rachel Brice for her discipline, hard working and professional performance.

I disgust what trolls say about her.

If you Trolls do not like her, leave her alone and do not disturb - P.E.A.C.E. - P.L.E.A.S.E!

  • SHE IS THE BEST DDDANCER

  • This was an awesome video! I love her... but gotta say... all the yelling reminded me alot of Zena ^-^ Like DUCK RACHEL! She's gonna chuck her disc at you! But I loved the vid ^-^

  • I don't understand why there are so many negative comments on bellydance videos. Who would have thought that this art form would be such a troll magnet?

This is wonderful though, I love her.

  • @RogueMaleficium ya no kidding, I think it is because of the costumes, people assume if you are bearing your belly that it must be provocative and naughty.

  • man she's awesome

  • Comment removed

  • a melhoor

  • From 2003 and already then her abdominas undulations and all other isolations ware amaizing¨!! -Superb drum solo

  • Is that a bodhran or a riq?

  • 29 people have no sense of living.

  • snake like movements

  • It's incredible when the music slows way down because you can see just how much control she has over her body and movements. Beautiful.

  • I liked her and the other Tribal Fusion dancers before they started doing all this Victorian/20's fusion crap. It makes me embarrassed to be both a belly dancer and a daily wearer of Victorian stuff.

  • Dance really isn't in a culture or a race or a country or anything but in a persons heart and spirit....Ms. Brice dances from her very core of her being and out to her fingertips, it does not matter who is from where or any of that...people get so caught in polarizing themselves and each other it's truly sad...let dance be dance and art be art...Everyone should dance however they want as long as it brings them joy!

  • @JetRedGirl

I will beyond agree with you! But why does Ms. Brice whom I admire with other dancers, keep mentioning that she is Jewish? I am Roman, and have studied this dance for over 30 years. I never told anyone my family Hx.

I am just saying, that ART should be blind and speak for itself!

  • I really believe she is maybe the most attractive woman in the world........Did I say woman, I meant Goddess.....

  • to the nay sayers ALL dance has evolved and changed who are you to lessen the hard work these performers have put in to do this. Also most "fusion" belly dancers know and practice/perform the more traditional styles of belly dance however finding gigs that want to see it is more difficult than the more popular styles

  • la amo

  • hey everyone! the "categorization police" are coming! they'll settle this "bellydancing" debate once and for all!!!

...but in the meanwhile...why don't we all just understand that probably no one who commented can do what she does, therefore it is extraordinary in it's own way...and obviously interesting to watch if you're here. so get overr it. it's an art form

  • @expandyourmind6369

maybe everyone here except me can dance like that but i do agree that she is very interesting and talented. I love Rachel Brice!!!!

  • @nasima123

jokes on you. its called tribal FUSION for a reason. because its a FUSION of all belly dances. not only do YOU sound like the dumbass here. but you also sound like a racist. obviously you don't know shit. i hope you dont call your self a belly dancer.

  • @ireguil haha no it's u who is the dumbass here BITCH, i don't need to know shit about belly dance you know what , because belly dancing is not something that we took from other cultures and ruined it by adding shit called Tribal Belly dancing is a part of my own culture . So u shut the fuck up !

  • @nasima123

i'm sorry your an ignorant bitter person who doesn't know anything. Actually i'm not, poor of an excuse of people like you make me laugh and make my day. once you take a belly dance class or something, you might know a thing or two ;)

  • @nasima123 maybe u need to open ur mind & realize that this is the 21st century. Things are bound to evolve, dur. Their still is the original dance, u can check that out as its not like its totally gone, however I'm guessing that u clicked on this video just to troll on it, pathetic. U should be thankful as tribal fusion is introducing dance to many new people. Also, I lold at, "I don't need to know shit", well my troll friend, looks like u do know shit, and only that. Good day.

  • @nasima123 U really do not know anything about belly dance, because if u knew u´d be sure that it´s a kind of dance that dsn´t have an original culture, it existed since Ancient Egypt,a mix between Indians, Arabians, East of Europe.that´s why so many kinds of moves, and rithyms.Tribal Belly dance is nothing diferent from the "original" stuff, only the fact that it seems to b more similar to the real dance that existed about 3 thousands years ago even the dancer´s costume seems primitive.

  • Such a pleasure to hear Tobias drumming!

  • "sooooo ein traummmmmm!"

  • Makes me proud to be female!!! That was sweet!

  • such a perfect body

  • bellydancers are sooooooo hot lol

  • she's like a gothic gypsy belly dancer girl...I LOVE HEEERRRR!!!!...

  • Sin lugar a duda es una de las mejores en el mundo

  • Perfeita!!!

  • Very nice, sensuous

  • 27 People find stuff to dislike on youtube because they want to be the douchebag.

  • She is beyond a belly dancer.

  • trible makes me fall into a trans

  • Una geiia toaaaaaall!! QUE IIDOL!! =)

  • This video made me fall in love with this dance form, thanks rachel!

  • I love her style and dancing.

  • @artregeous What is 'fenece'? Why were her interactions with the percussionist improper? I understand what algorithms may have to do with dancing, but really, what is the point of your statement? Did you feel the joy in her dance or not?

  • @artregeous get a life dude. rachel brice is one of the best bellydancers (tribal or otherwise) in the states. don't diss her. if you don't like it don't watch. or if you think you're better, post your own vid. bet you wouldn't like it if some one said the same about you.

  • @artregeous FINESSE NOT FENECE SPELLIN ERROR SORRY

  • great impro, it's so good, you can't even tell

  • Nothing terribly "new" here.

  • wich tribal fest is this?

  • @VioletScrap Tribal Fest in Sebastopol CA

  • @VioletScrap i think this was tribal fest 6? or maybe even 5, its one of those two if i remember right!

  • @MizeryLovesCompany77 thankies :D

  • Horid camera work.

  • Rachel Brice is always impressive, but I really love this performance because she's smiling so much!

  • me da envidia muxa envidia

  • ¡Precioso video!

    ¡Muchas gracias!

    Ana

  • yo la AMO es mi idola!!!!♥

  • joli. Même si c'est toujours un peu pareil, elle le fait superbement bien.

  • Beautiful!

    Thank you!

  • She's a BEEAAASSTT XD

  • amazing!

  • 8 o Never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times I watch this

  • "even white people know they cant dance"

wow heavegurl.... you are soooo ignorant...

feel so sorry 4 u...you cant generalize..even if u say its ok to do it..

im pretty sure that being talented has nothing to do with your skin color...

  • @abzurdahcenicienta The person you replied to is now officially a successful troll.

  • I think the drummer thinks she's cute :-P

  • WOW she looks so young!

    and this is improv?>?>?

    omg shes amazing!

  • @iamspecial14 A good bellydance is mainly supposed to be able to dance without having planned a choregraphy, actually =) Well, in the traditional (older?) schools at least. So my teacher explained to me =) (and she does look very young, I was so surprised when I learnt her age!)

  • Anyone know of any more videos where she dances fast like this?

  • amazinggg :DD she inspires me to work harderr!! <3

  • So strangely hypnotizing....

  • LOL ok this is tribel bellydancing and not Egyptian or Oriental belly dancing , nor Greek , nor Turkish, nor Lebanese. This is Tribal Fusion. This style was brought to being in the 1970ish by Jamila Salimpour. Since, HEAVENGURL, you know so much about belly dancing i am sure you can spot the differences between the dances. This style of the dance was originated in San Francisco. Its called a Tribel Fusion because it actually is a combination of many forms of dances, not just belly dancing

  • 2:42 WOW, she´s a snake!

  • This is at tribal fest, right? What year is it?

  • beautiful.

  • I will not read any coments because she is briliant...

  • Can't we all just get a bong?

  • @greywolfgirl4 fuck yea!!!!!!!!

  • @greywolfgirl4

Please, what does it means "get a bong"? English is not my native language. I'm curious.

  • @Lia137 it means to drop all arguments and smoke some happy plant. XD

  • @Lia137

Sorry, but this is pretty funny haha...let's see, in certain cultures, people use devices that contain "happy herbal medicine" to calm there spirits, make them feel ethereal : ) This is what a bong is used for! Just watch some Bob Marley and Pineapple Express (the movie). You will understand : )

  • @MsPrince4life Thanks! Now, I understand. rsrsr

  • @Lupy5

    Your welcome! : )

  • ..and it doesn't mean that someone who is born in Middle East for sure knows how to bellydance ither! ther are people who are talented and who are not and you can't generalize wich of this are white, black, arab and so on...

  • I agree with you for the most part. I don't think that it has anything to do with that being white or whatever else. Most middle easterners (I'm Lebanese but grew up in America) grow up listening to arabic music and watching their parents and peers dance, it's in our culture (more Lebanese than pure Arab). That's not to say that a Lebanese (say my cousins) person raised without the influence can dance because they can't. But that's why i can generalize because in most Caucasian cultures

  • they don't grow up with the same cultural influences. It's very plain that I'm not racist and I find it very funny that people are taking it that way. I can't do bollywood dancing (I've tried) and my roommate has tried to teach me to do step but I failed. But yea I do agree talent has nothing to do with race.

  • modern bellydancing originates from Middle Eastern folklore, and of course that somone who is born there will be more "in touch" with that type of dancing, and this is true for any folklore in any country and any race(and everybody has there own folklore)!but that has got nothing to do with talent and it does not mean that someone who has talent can't learn some other tipe of dancing that is not characteristic for there homeland(or for specific race)!

  • I'm sure Ms. Brice is cool, cuz she's definitely talented. Anybody can belly dance, but that doesn't mean non-white people don't notice how many times the industry has exploited a lot of cultures out there and then replaced everybody with performers that have more "acceptable" features. It's not about racism, just advocating some appreciation for where things originally came from.

  • totally agree

  • weeeeeeelllll technically it's called zaghareet

  • it's not yelling it's called trilling, it's a form of excitement and encouragement towards her

  • why is the audience yelling?

  • In Middle Eastern dance, they do that yell as a form of complimentary. They do it all the time in belly dancing

  • Wow, people can't we just enjoy this beautiful dancing. Dancing, music , art esp. traditional ones like these are expressions of human creativity and sometimes rep. something Divine & spiritual or used to. And that ability is unique to only one race on earth--the human race.

  • wow she is hot

  • anyone know the last song when the credits come out? really amazing music :)

  • being white has nothing to do with, i know so many belly dancers that are white most of them are.

  • being white as nothing to do with the talet you can have or not have in belly dancing ... belly dancing can be from middle East but that doesn't say that only middle east people can do belly dancing... that just raciste

  • I think that's more of stereotyping than racism.

  • Belly dancing wasnt "found" in Western cultures, but it has certainly become a part of Western culture. It is simply STUPID to make a generalization that "most" belly dancers arent white or "white people know they cant dance" or "white people cant dance" it is a stereotype, a ridiculous generalization no more or less ridiculous than me saying all black people live in the ghetto. Some do, some dont,. Some white folks can dance, some cant.

  • I'm sorry but it hasn't become apart of Western Culture. It's actually not that stupid to make the generalization that most belly dancers are from Arab cultures. You can't argue that the majority of Hindi dancing is done by Indians, why? Because it's what they were raised watching, doing and appreciating. Although many of us would like to believe we are in a global community we're not. Different cultures celebrate different things and belly dancing happens to be huge in the Middle East.

  • the comments about white people cant dance is not only un believably stuoid and untrue but very racist and vibdictive - a lot of top bellydancers are English by the way

  • Top belly dancers in who's opinion? Western opinion? Plus by making it into a competition you've already made it Western.

And how am I being vibdictive? I'm guessing you're calling me vindictive, but how am I seeking revenge? Vindictive, after all, means disposed or inclined to revenge.

  • I agree with you.

  • with who?

  • with you. heavengurl

  • haha thanks! I'm glad someone does! :)

  • How do I know this? Well seeing as how I go back there every summer and every girl I know (and yes I mean every girl I know) belly dances makes me pretty certain that I can make that generalization.

And how exactly is it "STUPID"?

I never said that ALL white people can't dance. If you can find anywhere in my argument please point it out.

Now are you trying to tell me that you don't generalize? That would be ridiculous because generalizing is natural to human nature.

  • "even white people know they can't dance"

Excuse me, your blatant racism is showing.

  • @misslessieloo i totally agree!!

  • haha any reason why?

  • I hate prejudices that' s the reason

  • ... that's not a reason.

  • That's YOUR opinion. You are not the supreme source of the truth you know? And your reasons are really silly. The world is not limited to what we know: if, for example, the only language i know is russian i can't say that russian is the only language that exists!! If you only know white people that can't dance that doesen't mean that ALL white people can't dance. You are narrow minded and in 2009 this is a really sad thing!

  • Wow this is absolutely just fucking amazing and beautiful.

  • Love it...Love it...Love it!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved her outfit in this! and that it was improv..

  • I love this black outfit.

  • God, how awesome is she LoL :) I hope I can be half that good someday!

    Rachel Brice ROCKS!! <3

  • what to say, my favorite dancer

  • Excellent drum solo too! Amazing video!

  • FANTASTIC

  • SORRY i don't think this is 2003, but 2001, the FIRST TRIBAL FEST IN SEBASTOPOL ... I was there, I could not believe people were leaving the audience because she was not yet famous ... I think 2003 is the year Courtney started filming for her bellydance documentary, that may be why the later date.

  • you know what I was just thinking: THIS IS FROM 2003!! and I just find it weird that the quality of her dancing is still soooo amazing. I'm embarrassed to watch video's of myself of 1 year ago! I can't believe this is 6 years ago and her technique is still flawless... just out of interest I would love to watch a video of Rachel from the 90's :)!!

  • a great dancer

  • I love her and the misic, I loved it so much I started rolling my belly to the music!, =D

  • she dances like a thunder and lightning!!!!

  • Rachel Brice is proof that there is a God.

  • true!

  • THIS IS HOT!

  • i wanna belly dance! lol, great moves there!

  • Rachel Brice has belly dance DVDs... worth checking out!

  • nice improvisation! shes my favorite belly dancer.

  • actually the gazi yelling is like encouraging and saying "we love you" , "you're great"

All bellydancers do it, whatever style

    Its apart of Bellydance.

Alot of dancers do it during their own performances too.

Most Bellydancers love it when their friends & fans do the yelling.

  • well actually, you are wrong.

i do agree with you that they are encouraging her. and they have good intentions. but not all bellydancers do it. and not all styles. it is not a part of bellydance.

i am the son of a woman who used to bellydance in her youth. and i have watched hundreds of bellydancers to know this: "tribal crowds" do it way too excessively and in regardless whatever moment during the show. there are suttleties about yelling that the tribal crowds are totally oblivious to

  • i do have to add that regardless of the distractions, this is one hell of an amazing Dancer.

    i love Rachel!

  • well im an ex bellydancer, nd all the ones here in australia they all the yelling.

Yeah Tribal dancers are more full on about it.

but the tribal girls in aus only do it at the start of thr dance ,the end and if somethin looks really cool

even if u did a bollywood dance 4 a comp they still go mental including the other dancers(non tribal) but this is from my experiancr of 4 years in the industry...i guess different countries hav different ways maybe?

  • I'M SPEECHLESS.......

  • I love how she Layers her moves...shimmy with the hip while belly roll and then throws in a chest circle at the same time....Really cool.

  • This is how every dancer should be.

  • I think this is my favorite performance of Rachel. She's amazing. She really is!!!

  • Man, she is one of the best I have ever seen!

But no words can really describe to the fullest the impressions I feel when I watch such excellent performers.

    This is TRUE art!!!

  • mi vida al ritmo del derbake oh si!

  • This is one BEAUTIFUL dance! Wow.

  • Were can you get sleeves like that?

  • She makes me want to dance too. What amazing talent she's got. :D

  • I fell in love with this clip years ago... *sigh*

  • amazing, just breath taking

i mean tribal is special but i really think that rachel brice is the best belly dancer

  • how can she move her arms like that??? its amazing

  • What a STAR!

  • Tribal style = Rachel Brice

  • Not true. Tribal style was around before Rachel Brice. I believe Rachel actually was a cabaret style dancer before ever becoming tribal. I believe Jamila Salimpour's troupe Bal Anat was first credited with being called Tribal and then Caroleena Nericchio began formalizing what is now called American Tribal Style as an improvisational group dance. Rachel studied with Caroleena among others. Technically speaking, Rachel is a tribal fusion dancer.

  • @paledeerwoman She wasn't the first Tribal dancer, she did create Tribal Fusion dance.

  • @GrimmAndGarr

Jamila Salimpour and Carolina Nericchio styles are tribal fusion. Ms. Brice started/studied with a tribal fusion group; (excuse my spelling) Habi Rhu' or Habibi Ru?

This does not TAKE away from her in the slightest. It is just what is true.

Caruso, did not invent opera; yet he is considered one of the greatest tenors of all time. That is what I am saying.

I am a major fan of Ms. Brice.

  • man it looks like shes freakin floating

  • How can she predict the beats?

  • theres tons of standard drum beats that the player will use so that the dancer can plan ahead a little bit. and if she knows which tempo hes in she generally knows when he'll switch to a different pattern

  • or theres something called rehersing xD

  • Its an improvisation...

  • Comment removed

  • Notice how at 3:20 she looks directly at the drummer and nods her head, and he speeds up the tempo? When a drummer and the soloist are in sync (and both really really good at what they do) they both pick up cues from each other almost seamlessly.
