dont u mean that banana no kawa o muku is "i will peel the banana"? cus if its something u r doing at the moment it makes more sense to say "banana no kawa o muiteru". dont mean to critisize im just saying =P...
When you asked what that banana junk was, and then shoved it in your mouth and said how it didn't taste good.. made me laugh really hard for some reason.
At the end you have baka written on the screen in romaji katakana and what i guess must be the kanji for baka, do you know why complicated kanji symbols are used which only represent a single syllable such as 'ba' and 'ka'?
Fromatic: the two kanji mean "horse" and "deer" respectively. Somehow together they mean "idiot".
Japanese has a lot of homonyms, which are words that are pronounced the same but have different meanings and spellings, like "heel" (bottom rear of your foot) and "heal" (to get over an injury). So the different kanji provide a way to indicate which meaning you want when the sound makes it ambiguous. Also, since the Japanese don't put spaces between words, kanji are quick visual reference points.
I don't know what its called but I heard if you peel the banana from the other end, you don't get those stringy things. I never tried it. Let me know if you try it.
banana peeling! I thought for a second that there actual was a banana peeler device. How do you do the proper response to that "I have peeled the banana" comment - "Good for you!" with a hint of sarcasm?
Those strings are called phloem bundles, which deliver nutrients to vascular plants.
The reason they often come off of the peels is because we peel bananas backwards, against the grain. What is consider the top of the banana is actually the bottom of it. If you even seen a monkey eat a banana, you will notice that they peel it in the "reversed" direction.
Wow, Viktor! I'm very surprised (and happy) that you're actually sticking with this lesson per day thing! Awesome! Thanks for your work and I hope they keep coming!
Nowdays thsoe particles are considered as bound clitics. It might be better to present them in that manner.
