(i am not a jew). long before all of them there used to be hindu-like religions, belief in nature and spirits and great leaders. look at the sumerian, they were not muslim - they had their own religion. this was 5000 before christ.

I find it very fascinating that most liturgic pieces tend to evoke hostility on youtube comments...much of it from those that claim to be the "True believers". I think most people, specifically Christians on this board should remember that first an foremost, God is LOVE. It's no wonder each religion believes the others are nuts...we are to blame for our own image problems. How about everyone starts setting a POSITIVE EXAMPLE. Listen for the music's sake. Think of the Buddhist monks setting themselves ablaze. They were (a) fighting to secure the control of the Holy Places in Palestine (Asia); (b) impose the mediaeval Roman Catholic version of Christianity in Prussia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia (quite "free" enough before the Crusaders arrived) and (c) conquer territory from the Muslims in Spain.

The First Crusade took place as a response to the Seljuk Turks - not the Shi'ites in Persia, not the Sultanate of Egypt, not to any of the Emirates of Arabia, and certainly not to any alliance of the above as there was no such alliance at the time. I suggest you read some proper history.

Jesus said that "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword", and the early Christians were some of the most peaceful people who ever lived. The idea of linking war and Christianity didn't come along until the time of the emperor Constantine: it was never part of Jesus or the Apostles' teachings.
