  • i think she has the look for elphaba more than any other actress

  • She STILL gives me chills even on this youtube video!

  • Jemma Rix Is The Best Elphie EVER!!!!

  • And suddenly at 2:21 we're in the year 2034... LOL

  • OMG.... AMAZING.... Only One Word For It =)

  • SHES GOT SO MUCH SOUL IN HER VOICE, SO MUCH COLOR.

    AMAING FIYERO RIFF

  • O

    M

    G

  • Where was this show? Because thru didn't have that lift during the Brisbane season.

  • In perth, she didnt have a trapdoor or a stand :( i felt so robbed!!

    She was sooooo amazing though.

  • @idinaismygod I know in Brisbane she didnt have one either :( but her singing made up for it :)

  • @idinaismygod @GypsyFallenAngelz yeah they don't have lifts on tour :(

  • @TheNucleolus she has a 'lift' in perth :) she flies during defying gravity but she didnt for one show.

@GypsyFallenAngelz yes it certainly made up for it. she is sooo good!!

  • @idinaismygod what do u mean? what did she do if she didnt fly? why didnt she fly?

  • @jasonr1929 hi i think you may have misinterpreted. She did fly on the tours except for the occasional show when the lifts didn't go up.

What she didn't have was a trapdoor in Perth (or a stand for her book) so she entered stage left carrying the book and then did the song as usual. It was still incredible but it didn't have the same dramatic effect as the entry through the trapdoor. :)

  • that ending turning pose. every song that elphaba solos in, thats the pose. lol. overdone.

  • @JaqueChance In the wizard and I, its different.

Plus she doesnt do it in Defying Gravity. Not in I'm not that Girl. :)

  • @JaqueChance It's to signal the conductor and lighting crew. It's like in defying gravity when she thrusts out her arm to signal the ensemble to star singing their last "down".

  • Jemma is FANTASTIC!

  • Jemma is fantastic, but I think that the best Australian Elphaba would have to be her standby, Laura Bunting.

  • @BowserTheSecond Laura has great range, but I don't think she has as much control as Jemma.

  • Jemma's voice is AMAZING and she really sells that role of Elphaba so well!! I think she just has the right voice for the part!! Defiantly my favourite Elphie forever! Shoshana Bean and Amanda Harrison are brilliant to and I love all of them but no one in my opinion compares to Jemma :) Just saying :)

  • Nope, doesn't quite do it for me. Rachel tucker and Idina menzel all the way.

  • even the first fiyero when she was coming out of the floor gave me chills!

  • I love Jemma. Her voice is so strong and pure!!!

  • May I add, her second Fiyero is "iffy". She sort of skips the "r" and just goes "Fieyo".

And as nice as that little raised section is, I really like Donna Vivino's personal riff. Now THAT is an amazing riff on the end.

  • wow, she's good :) But I have to say, I don't like the accent...

  • I never saw Amanda as Elphie, only Patricia and Jemma, and I loved Jemma's version!! I even got her autograph after the show!!!

I loved Wicked when I first saw it, but I don't listen to the music obsessively anymore...that I do for Cats now, funny thing is, one of the cast members from Wicked when I saw it was actually in Cats...but I loved Jemma's version, she's one of my fave Elphies!!!

  • @loopylupin09 Wow you got her autograph, lucky, we waited for about 45 minutes in the rain at the stage door, but she left the other way. But Lucy came out, but she had to leave because she just got a phonecall or something :P

  • Doesn't anyone else feel as though she doesn't get the character right? Her voice is amazing, but she sounds forced on the low notes and the character feels a bit forced. I prefered Amanda's interpretation of the character and especially this song.

  • @chrisistrangerthanu I love Jemma and now that I read this, I have to agree. I mean, she is has AMAZING voice and her defying gravity is absolutley killer (albeit more poppy than someone like SJB), but her acting in the role isn't on-par with Amanda (who, though was a killer actor, lacked the full vocal abilities).

So thank you for opening my eyes to something that I've never really thought about. :)

  • @BlazedHearts I went with my mum and sister, for my first time and they had seen Amanda, and they said the complete opposite that Jemma was the better actress and Amanda was the better vocalist, so each to their own I suppose. :P

  • @TheNucleolus "each to their own". Exactly right, i wish more people thoguht like that, rather than being abusive about who is better in their minds.

  • @BlazedHearts if you mixed Amanda and Jemma you'd have the perfect elphaba! lol. I saw only Jemma rix as Elphaba so i can't compare

  • @chrisistrangerthanu i get what your saying. i've seen both Jemma and Amanda on different occasions. Saw Jemma first. She was great but Amanda blew me away. Her defying gravity was AMAZING. I'm sad she didnt stay with the cast.

  • she is INCREDIBLE ! but no one compares to Idina Menzel

  • @MizzSmileey Haha, sorry she is way better than Idina, there is not a single recording (excluding the soundtrack) where Idina is not pitchy. Jemma is amazing every single time, or as she likes to say, consistent.

  • @TheNucleolus yeaah id have to agree with that , i just find idina amazing and shes a great role model to me :)

  • Jemma is always right on the note. Her technique is amazing and always consistent. Idina is known for being the first Elphie, however it's in my opinion that Jemma should be known as the voice of Elphie world wide.

  • @euroclass1 so with you

  • Jemma is marvelous, but I really dislike her second "Fiyero". D:

  • BEST ELPHIE EVA!

  • its been a week since I saw Wicked and I can't get it out of my head. I've tried to listen to other music, but I only seem to want to listen to Wicked music :)

  • @LittleGooseWalking it happens.I saw it over six months ago and i've listened to nothing since

  • Oh, wow. Gotta love those riffs, she is - as always - absolutely remarkable! I could listen to her forever.

  • Yay for the Fiyero riff! I love it!

  • what day did you go it?

  • Why are all the Melbourne and Sydney videos like this?!? Can we get a real recording of Melbourne or Sydney.

  • @jewey896 this is probably the best you'll get, I've been in Sydney a few times and cause of the size of the theatre and the popularity of the show it is really hard to record anything without being seen, I have been there while the ushers patrolled in the 2nd act beofe...

  • This video is actually pretty good. At least you can see her face clearly :P

  • Jemma is incredible, i'm glad there's now video to prove it! lol :))
