if its so expensive to run wires everywhere, would embracing and improving wifi be better and cheaper? You can already get a wifi service from clear.com. Is it possible to improve that type of service to have speeds comparable to FIOS?
@lucaslanddotcom actually clear wire uses sprint cell towers. Fios is always going to be the quickest way to communicate. Its literally infred light just blinking thousands of times per second. So in short, no wifi/clear wire and other wireless providers cant get speeds that fios can.
@fightingfalconfan For 4G, Clearwire does own/operate their own WiMAX network. Sprint however owns a majority of Clearwire, and uses their WiMAX network for 4G. Sprint is in the process of building their own LTE network at the moment though, and will stop using Clearwire's network by 2015
@lucaslanddotcom For now, and for quite a while. Wired is faster than Wireless. It's also far more reliable.
Even the fastest wireless technology LTE-Advanced (which isn't available yet) is still less than half as fast GPON (underlying tech behind FiOS). LTE-Advanced will also require a massive amount of spectrum. And since it's wireless, the more users on the network, the slower it gets.
Verizon is the best! I decided where to buy my house because of where it is! I host game servers with the 35/35 plan and make money :D Good luck to all Verizon people!
verizon fios sucks so much i only had it for 1 month and 2 days and i got rid of the shit bc i was calling about 2 times a week bc i was having so much problems with it then they wanted me to pay a full month for only useing 2 days of service and i put up a fit about it i wasnt going to pay $167 for 2 days for sevice but i talked to someone who felt bad bc i had so much problems with it they gave me ALOT of credit so in the end i didnt had to pay for useing 2 days of services

Also, ClearWire is not WiFi service, it's WiMAX.
