  • Glad he lost. he was really really sketchy....

  • boycott this election. show the democratic party that we want real representation in virginia.

  • I'm so voting for him. =]

  • Deeds is confused, but the voters will send him a clear message on 11/3.

Today's Wash. Post poll has McDonnell up 55% to 44%. It's over.

  • Deeds has had a speech problem since he was little. I feel bad for him because the GOP (Gay Old People) ,like Bob McDonnell, have made fun of him for it.

  • Here's what he said (to me): He isnt personally comfortable with the whole gay or gay marriage thing but he dosnt want to step on other people's lives because he thinks it's not governments role to control people's social lives.

Govt cant tell you to be Jewish or Christian or Atheist, but it can tell you who to marry? Isn't that ludicrous?

Why would the government even care? Why would a nosy neighbor care?

Don't you want people to just be free as long as they dont hurt others? Jeeez

  • Its a simple yes or no. Thats all you had to say about that, I dont think I'm even going to vote in this election because both candidates are horrible.

  • You can tell when someone is lying because they look top right ...searching for a plausible answer .. watch how many times he does this ... WOW.

  • So, if a person is looking to the left they tell the truth? That's the most ignorant thing I have read in a while.

  • There are many studies on people behavior. And no, Most of the time, when someone can look you dead in the eye without "twitching" ... they are telling you the truth. ((Professional Poker players excluded...) :) ... Deeds has been caught in several lies. But the main one I am concerned with is his position on taxes. The average working man out here trying to pay his bills and keep food on the table, can't afford MORE taxes on gas & utilities. My Lights, Gas & Water are high enough.

  • Despite popular belief, there are no consistent nonverbal cues associated with lying.

And when nonverbal cues have been identified after looking at thousands of liars and truth tellers - the findings cannot be applied to any individual.

Why? If deception is revealed, it usually happens through microexpressions - (google facial expression test).

Also, Deeds has a naturally "odd" manner about his speech and movement. It says nothing of his ability to govern.

  • you are a moron. i have nothing more to say to you.

  • Rod Blagoavich said something interesting on Howard Stern last week re: gay marriage. He said that for democrats, the only party who will really give gays the right, they cannot move fast on this issue. In other words, you need to nurture the issue and protect it (from dumb amendments to ban G marriage). That is, over time, gays can get married too.

  • What a hypocrite, I'm voting for McDonnell.

  • he may in fact be FOR gay marriage but since he is running in VA, still a heavily redneck state just saying that may cost him votes. i believe obama is for gay marriage too but he knew if he came out for it the republicans would make that the focus point of the 2008 election.

  • How can any gay person support this guy???? I say gay people start voting for third party candidates. Then the Dumbocrats will realize how much they really need us and will stop playing our votes for granted!

  • Don't give up on Creigh because of his marriage views. I believe that he will come around on the issue. He has said that gay people deserve equal rights. Northern Virginians don't realize what a huge deal it is for a politician from a very rural, deeply religious and strongly conservative area to even recognize that gay people deserve equal rights! I know many gay people who enthusiastically voted for Creigh. I know the guy. He may come around to a deeper understanding of the issue.

  • Against gay marriage? For constitutional amendments banning gay marriage? YOU'VE LOST MY VOTE!! No, thanks, Mr. Deeds. And if you do win the Democratic primary, the Republican will get my vote in the general. I will no longer support any Democrat that opposes gay rights, even if it means voting for a Republican.

  • phil825, what if both parties (Republican and Democratic) oppose gay marriage? Who will you vote for then?

Genuine question. Just wondering what you would be doing in this case.

  • I am left-leaning on social issues only (except abortion, which I'm on the fence on but generally have issues with.) I'm much more conservative fiscally. So if I don't get what I *should* in this day and age from the Dems -- liberal social policy as it relates to gay issues -- it benefits me just as much to vote Republican (locally.)

  • I too am a gay libertarian and I think the Democrats can go fuck themselves. They didn't give us a gay marriage vote in NY. It was the REPUBLICANS with democrats caucusing who are doing it. Creigh Deeds is another three-piece suit promising change when really all he is is another shill for the organized labor MOBS. These people are in fact bigger crooks than the GOP because rather than hating us to our face, they pretend to like us so they can get our vote.

  • Virginia needs to vote for the democrat that can win!! I think deeds is the right guy for the job. Terry is the ultimate inside player riding on the backs of the clintons....

  • I'm sorry, I only heard one position on gay marriage; he believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, but recognizes that that is his personal belief, and he shouldn't impose it on others, so a ballot measure would be the best course of action to pursue about civil marriage.

    Deeds For Governor '09.

  • Deeds presented five different positions:

1.) The voters should have a say on the legality of gay marriage so he voted twice to put the gay marriage ban amendment on the ballot.

2.) Yet he campaigned against the amendment and claims to have voted against it.

3.) He believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

4.) He believes that everyone should have equal rights.

5.) But he wont give a firm answer on whether gay marriage is a civil right.

  • So you would rather vote for McDonnell, even though his position on gay marriage is a definite no, including no to civil unions?

  • I am completely in the agreement that Gay Marriage should be legal. With that being said, I will vote for McDonnell because they are much the same on social issues. However, I do believe McDonnell will understand the economy more than Deeds.
