It was so cool being so close to the most advanced aircraft in the world! Is it just me, or do the engines sound sorta different from most?

It is the most advanced and we still get constant upgrades to every system. As far as the motors go...at idle and at throttle up they do sound different!

Kind of. I'm from atlanta, too. I can definitely tell the difference when Dobbins sends out an F22 versus when they send out an F16... I think it's probably because of the huge engines, but also the design of the airplane is to cut down noise until it's pretty much right on you. And the vectored rear nozzles may have something to do with it too ;-).
