I voted No on 1, but I'm not hopeful. The religious fundies will likely succeed, because of the demographics of Maine (very rural). When the final tally is in, I expect that the more urban areas (such as they are) will have voted to maintain equality, but the hicks from the sticks will still carry the day.
Ironically, I expect medical marijuana to pass (I voted for it), because of those same hicks, who will see it as a step closer to being able to get stoned legally -- while cracking gay jokes.
I'm a heterosexual male atheist. Your assumption, that anyone who supports equality is a gay activist, is false. And I don't want any kind of church. I'm against religious fundies dictating these issues. Marriage is a legal issue and is therefore the purview of government. Your claim to want the gov out of marriage rings hollow, since we both know that's not going to happen. You want the gov out of equality enforcement, but you're not out picketing the gov to get out of hetero marriage.
Ha! Obama!

It lost in California, it lost everywhere.
I am not against legal unions entered by two parties, homo and hetero.
I am against government dictating what "marriage" is.
Government needs to get out of the way and stop creating this division.
You have your gay church and I'll have mine.
Easy fix.
