  • thank you bobby!!! black music!!! RIP!!!

  • THE ORIGINAL leader and FOUNDER of the legendary singing group THE FAMOUS FLAMES... and THE MAN who DISCOVERED JAMES BROWN...BOBBY RECRUITED JAMES into THE FLAMES and made him LEAD SINGER. Had it not been for BOBBY, the world may have NEVER HEARD OF JAMES BROWN...but he gets SO LITTLE CREDIT TODAY.He left us almost 9 months to the day after James died.BOBBY and the OTHER FLAMES (JOHNNY TERRY, BOBBY BENNETT, AND LLOYD STALLWORTH) should've been inducted into the RRHOF WITH HIM. R.I.P. BOBBY.

  • Your Absolutely Correct. That is very True. Bobby Byrd is The Man and he is a Legend.

  • You are correct that Mr. Byrd does not get his just due as the one who brought James Brown to King Records in 1956, but as the saying goes, the cream always rises to the top, and James Brown was clearly the superior talent, and was the one King/Federal Records was interested in.

  • You are Absolutely Right about That. I believe Bobby Byrd Indeed Discovered James Brown into Superstardom. Bobby is Great and he will always be Great bobby should get more Credit Than That. R.I.P. Bobby Byrd. You will always be in our Hearts..

  • thanks for the history bro... i have been collecting james since i was 14...im 37 now an i just cant get enough.....mass uk

  • So true!!! today's flaky non-stars get so much press, like Britney, Jessica Simpson...etc. meanwhile the founding fathers of soul & hip-hip go unheralded.

Clyde Stubblefield is another one who should be in the RRHOF.

  • but the actual performance had Bootsy on bass, and Fred Wesley on trombone

  • Yes thats correct, But this is perhaps One of hist last appearances ever of Bobby byrd with the soulgeneral,s..CAPTURED on film, great soundcheck and get down at the james brown arena friday-night 29dec.2006 bootsy collins&fred wesley arrived the next morning,as they werent arrived yet, and even playd along on the public funeral, which i also have on film. I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL !

  • @dutchsoulman

thanks for posting. love the sound of this footage. sounds like way back when. guess bobby was completely underrated. some of the funkiest songs with jb where written or co-written by him.

  • @d820m Correction: The original recording has Fred Thomas on bass, not Bootsy Collins. Both he and Fred Wesley are present in this video. Bobby Byrd's performance of this song the following day at Mr. Brown's memorial service would be his last public appearance. He passed away in September 2007.

  • the real thing!

  • so much soul!!!!!!

  • this was da rehearsal for jb's funeral....dats waz up "i know u got soul!!! if u didn't u wouldn't be n here, don't let the green grass fool ya, i know u don't like 2 fake tightin up young thang, and shake yo money maka...say yea!!!"

  • This dude really had soul, song so funky man

  • This is awesome...I love this song and bobby still sounds great..r.i.p the original man who backed up j. b.
