  • I use to listen to this song when I´m at job in the office, all rounded by selfish fools. My world is Symphony X. Fuck off neckties penpushers.

  • Nice nod to Johann Sebastian Bach's BWV 1052 from 3:40 through 4:25, stunning

  • i have been trying to find an audio file of this song, not a downloadable file, i got that part down, i just need to be able to play the audio on any website, anyone got a link?

  • 0:34 "Arschloch"

  • Couldn't help noticing some of the lyrics are wrong. The first pre0chorus should be (and is)...

    Oh, empire of the sea,

Lords of technology that fell into the void

Oh shall it be as it was before -

    A tragedy on every shore?

    ...but the second should be...

    Oh, empire of the sea,

Lords of technology bring death unto the Earth

Oh shall it be as it was before -

    A tragedy on every shore?

  • @ultimatevyse capitalism , world gouvernment

  • "is this the end of all we know?

    Innocence lost so long ago

Woven in dreams - the dakest schemes

    now takes hold of destiny".......

easily my favourite passage from these Godlike creatures you call Symphony X

  • 0 people can't recognize good music when they hear it.

  • there're no words to decribe this album... I can only close my eyes, press play and think I'm in the story :)

  • they were born in USA

    but their spirits are european

  • the funny thing is, you all think these guys would be genious for copying verdi and bach. uhm wait, somebody see the mistake… verdi and bach were geniuses. i bet these guys cant improvise a piano piece with six different melodies on six different rhythms ;)

    anyway, their music is amazing.

    sorry for bad english

  • @KuchikiByakuyaftw i bet they could!

but ..... who would like that??? xDDD

  • @KuchikiByakuyaftw Man, Pinella plays since he was like five, and graduated on classical music, so maybe he could do a piano piece with a lot of different melodies and stuff, but this is not the point of their music. They play Progressive Metal.

  • Words fail me when i try to describe how symphony x's music makes me feel.

This is pure musical genius. I'm lucky to live in the same era as these great musicians.

  • well this is a nice song one of my favorite and i thng its good to hear thsi groups ho play somthing classic and metal in same time its nice i hope find some music like this......

  • I f you think this song should be No.1 @ Metalvevo you shall give a thumb up, the one with most thumbs up will be rank 1

  • I just noticed that the second Empire of the Sea mentions the Earth instead of the Void.

  • Lyrics on Screen please

  • woven in dreams the darkest of schemes takes hold of our destiny....

  • Such a nice pace. I love it!

  • Can anyone tell me the story of this album? Thanks.

  • I don't care who calls me a poser this is pure epic.

  • I was referred to this by IcoTheBest after I saw someone pull off a UV -fastmonsters run on Fear, map 26 of the Doom 2 WAD "Scythe".

    Epic.

  • @RaceBandit its also on Between the Demons Claws and Invasion UAC. good song though :D

  • @vegeta353658 if your take your friends DICK out your EAR, maby you will hear that Russell Allen is one of the best singers in the world. But of course, you could be a total asshole looking for a fight...who knows

  • the vocals is amazing symphonyx are thes best of the best but you sucks y love vegeta in dbz but you vegeta353658 you suck men

  • @vegeta353658 u suck lol hes one of the best metal singers

  • 3:34 to 3:55 is just awesome love it love it love it, its magic, thank you simphony x for this song

  • Absolutely a phenominal song. It's so good to see that metal can have its beautiful side.

  • the fact that your comparing guitar and guitar hero as an INSTRUMENT makes you an idiot

  • @GGTopGuitarist haha indeed , things can't hardly get worse then that.

  • We of the Gurly oopydops like to change Seee

mean Man Meaning 2 Za words so Ray Ray can get his Oatmeal Corn flacks.

    I love idiots.

  • Is mayonnaise an instrument?

  • no but its good with ham and cheese

  • My all time favorite metal album! Not a single crappy song on the entire record!

The special thing about this song is how Symphony X demonstrates their ability to integrate classical music into their own style.

First the Verdi requiem, then an amazing guitar solo, and then from 3:35 all the way to 4:26 is ALL J.S. Bach's concerto for harpsichord and orchestra until the chorus comes back in. Amazing.

  • The best thing about how they integrate a neoclassical sound is that they are seemingly able to do it in a way that doesn't sound cheesy or just "two things put together", I mean they put two things together but it just sounds like a whole new awesome thing, like it was just meant to be that way.

  • Finally! Someone who fully understands why I love this band so much! The world needs more people like you who can appreciate good music when they hear it, not just become obsessed with a band because of a couple good solos in a song they heard.

  • I agree

  • @CicadaKillerMan This album is really awesome. A masterpiece. I just can't listen to one song alone, I always got to listen the whole album.

  • Yeah I know exactly what you mean. All the tracks flow into each other so perfectly too; the album might as well just be one big track! And whichever track I'm listening to at the time seems like its the best track on the album. And then it goes to the next track and I'm like no this one is! HAH its all SO GOOD!!! RAHHHHH!!!

  • @CicadaKillerMan thats just some good metal right there ;)

  • @CicadaKillerMan OYEAH!!!! My fav album of all time as well!! HOW KICK ASS IS THAT MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :D:D:D the end screams sends chills YEAH!

BTW, I know you made this comment 7 months ago, but who cares!!!!!

  • @CicadaKillerMan I've been trying to figure out what that harpsichord solo was for years! do you know where i can find bach's version?

  • Comment removed

  • @Cabernal It's the fantastic Bach's Concert for harpsichord and strings in D minor, BWV 1052.

  • @Nachtpanzer Perfect!

  • @CicadaKillerMan @CicadaKillerMan rigth, here a part of concerto /watch?v=8-KyL2gMxV8&feature=related, from 6:26 to 8:12. Bach is heavy metal

  • @CicadaKillerMan THANK YOU! I could not place the source of the Requiem section. Verde. Good ear!

  • @CicadaKillerMan I love the Bach reference here (although I should call it more than a "reference" in this case.) How about the Bach "Kyrie" from "Smoke and Mirrors", after the 2nd chorus? Pretty awesome stuff!

  • @CicadaKillerMan Yes Dude, when I listen to this song, the chorus, and the solo!! OMG makes me goosebump.... its amazing...

  • If Verdi was alive he would make Progressive Metal.

  • i think he'd make a cup of deathly tea and strangle himself with a cello string whilst jumping off a bridge.

seems to happen to a lot of introspective classical musicians.

  • @ToquiGambit ... yeah even bach or anyone of the greatest classics ...

  • Such a well written prog metal song with actual classical music integrated... Wonderful musical integration in this one... not big on SX's super heavy/speed side as of late. Liking this record... second song I've heard off it.

  • awesome i fuckin looooooooooooooove this song

  • Se trata de una gran canción

  • just can't stop hearing this song :P

one of the best bands, one of the best albums, and finally one of the best songs i've ever heard ^^

PS: Romeo kicks ass on the solo xD

  • One of the best prog metal albums ever!

  • I don't get why this song isn't popular at all, I think It's one of Symphony X's greatest songs (especially the solo :D)

  • agree, with Out of the Ashes is one of my favorites of Symphony X of all the time

  • totally agree with you !

i love the chorus, one of their greatest !

  • YES ! the chorus is very catchy and the main riff amazing !!

  • i agree!!!! :D especially the "oh empire of the sea" part and the chorus because of the melodic things of bach

  • 2:49, love the part where the use a part of Verdi's requiem before the solos.
