Valentine's day is not a tradiotional holiday here. Like Halloween it got more popular the last years. Therefor I don't celebrate it, because for me it is just a very commercial festivity. In our country we have our own traditional holidays and I like to celebrate those, because I have good memories from my childhood of them.

They do have some people who do show the one's they love, how much they love them every single day. We do. Our family does. Whether through words, actions, or emails and phone calls. Everyday. We like to have extra fun on Valentine's day, because, IT"S FUN. There are so much WORSE things in the world to dislike so much, than just a day. Especially a day, (albeit to make money, i know) that's celebrates love. there's holidays for everything else, why not for love? Bitterness, is an ugly thing.

Beneath all the commercialization of valentines day and that you SHOULD show the people you love that you love them EVERYDAY, the sad fact is, that people just don't do that. i doubt anyone does that. if the commercialization and mushyness bothers people then don't buy cards and flowers.

My dad used to take our whole family to a nice dinner (other holidays we are never all together. huge family lol) and even with my dad gone we still do this every year :) its not only about significant others.
