Very good - must have taken a while to learn? I jjust like doing my own thing over the floyd backing tracks, but I should try and nail down the signature bits. I have just posted a version of marooned and I'd appreciate your comments, ie from someone who can play well. I use Gr10 and mixer plus cathedral reverb ( if you like that floyd echo sound get one of these for your ME - it sound fantastic and steps all over the BOSS reverb.

hardest Gilmore solo of all. i play 5 of his most popular solos note by note. you need to be very good with your bending...and the sound, and the exact octave FX setting, otherwise forget about... after you got the sound, listen to it many many times, cause, there is not a single good accurate transcript or tab out there..and the one that are available are pretty messy because of octave pitch

@rahk0505 Also, if you're wondering about octave settings, make your pedal switch between 0 and +1 octave only. It's not necessary to setup for +2 octaves.

The only note that I play higher than +1 is what you hear at 0:57, but for that I'm just hitting a second harmonic.

@asgardthor123 as rahk050 says, the hard part are the bends, and being very clean when playing in +1 octave, otherwise the effect can sound really crappy.

I'd say Gilmour solos in general are not that hard, since there is no shredding involved (and I suck at it). But what you need for sure is a lot more feeling and a good ear to hit the right notes when you do the bends

I have a boss ME-70 and my octave pedal sounds awful, goes all distorted where yours stays clean. How do you do that?

Don't use too much distortion. Also, make sure you're hitting only one string (mute the others) when playing in the high octave. It's pretty sensitive. More than one string vibrating ruins the sound when using that effect.

it was something like this: tone=mild, distortion=rat, at like 30% drive, half sustain, a bit of flanger, hall reverb 100%, like 30% delay feedback (should have used more) and pedal in +1 octave mode
