Can somebody tell me what the 'La' in 'La Ross' means? I presume it is applied with a positive connotation by fans to a diva's name, but where does it originate from?
That's why she recently received the Kennedy Center's Lifetime Achievement Award for a Creative or Performing Artist. The Kennedy Center Award is the highest distinction our nation bestows on a performing artist. It is the equivalent of the knighting of distinguished artists in Great Britain. Anyway, Ross isn't an "act". She is one of the essential artists of the 60s, 70s, & 80s who put the "pop" in pop art. All these years later, she still turns it out. Brava, la Ross!
On her "ILY" tour, she, as usual, played both Wembley & The Gibson in LA (formerly the Universal Amphitheatre), selling out both houses for multiple-night runs.
Some ignorants may like to try to diminish Diana Ross' accomplishments, but, the rest of us, far more knowledgeable people know better.
@SuperstarX It's funny that they both got that nickname but the one had nothing to do with the other. It was just a coincidence. But since I doubt they share very many serious fans probably not many people ever noticed. I'm one of the rare fans of both of them. Both great talents but completely different talents. Diana doesn't write poetic lyrics about disillusionment and Bruce doesn't have what you would call a beautiful voice.
Does anyone wonder why if Diana Ross is SOOOO boring why so many seem to take time to search her videos to leave pointless comments? rather than to leave those of us who enjoy her work to do just that? seems to me it says more about the negative comment makers than Diana Ross - who has the right to look at these comments and say..." I am to talented to care" Dont like her? dont view her!

She's being doing great, I think. A true phenomenon at her time. Still awesome nowadays. :)

I don't know why you always feel the need to put Diana down. Can't you just let her be?
