Just heart-melting. Perhaps the tessitura lies a little bit to high for his essentially low baritone, but is peculiar way of "stroking" words and tunes is unequaled.

WOW! Thank you Babyfairy. I have never heard this song much less Ettore's unique and beautiful voice in it. I agree totally with the above poster saying that comparisons of Dmitri with Ettore are totally wrong. That would be just as bad as comparing favorably the young tenor Villazon with Corelli, though doubtless some already do!

I thought I had heard and seen everything preserved from

the legacy of Bastianini,but this beautiful song was new to me and that goes for the photography too. What a unique singer and moving artist he was!

solo con me morra... la rimembranza... the most magnificent voice. some have compared hvorovstovski with bastianini... i feel they are seriously misguided. size, technique, beauty, phrasing, purity even in his bad nights....  ettore is far greater and more sublime and the sound so inimitable... dmitri is a far cry from this greatness.

I totaly agree with you; his voice was "fuori di comune"

and cannot be compared with anyone.He definitely deserves to be remembered as "one of the greatest" in the history of Opera.
