The Person most at fault here was the spotter, shit happens and peolple lose control.

But the complete and utter idiot talking on the phone on the flight line which could and has caused interference with the radio controllers not to mention he wasn't paying attention and warning other flyes of an inpending problem.

They should all be at the end where the aircraft and approaching and have a spotter who is not using his mobile phone. Very sad for the A10 pilot.

@SvenOkonomi OK...Here it is....In the air: 1 Hawk and 2 A-10's. Hawk crashes into A-10 pilot #1...He crashes his A-10...see how pissed he is. A-10 Pilot #2 lands his plane without the nose wheel that was lost on takeoff. Final scenes of the video is carnage of the Pilot #1's A-10 that crashed as a result of the Hawk crashing into him. Did you notice the spotter on the phone? He did nothing to help and was on the phone the whole time. Must have been a pretty important phone call!

Yeah it's expensive, but from the look of it, he hat jet turbines on that sucker. it could've been a LOT worse and some serious injuries could've happened. Planes can be fixed and replaced, but some injuries to the human body can not. I've seen those suckers explode. It's not fun.

One BAD safety stop for the aircraft. Two spotter on Cell. Three and biggest of all. A pilot that cant control his own plane. I've been flying for almost 12years and seen many close calls due to people taking on planes that they dont have the skills to fly. I would have told that guy off and then drink a 12 pack.

My opinion is that the guys that enjoy this hobby are the old rich retired folks that think they still have the hand eye coordination. Even flying with the smaller nitro models at some of these fields you enter at your own risk...Just like driving...they don't want to accept the fact they are getting old. A guy flys a Hawk at our flying field and always seems to have some difficulty on landings.Maybe an unstable design at low speeds.Feel bad for the A-10 pilot.They need to build separate fenced in stations as at my field in south Florida.

Well..... I think it is sad that both planes crashed/damaged. But, the A-10 guy choose to fly his $25,000 plane, at and airfield with a $15,000 paved runway and $20 plastic fencing. Lesson learned I hope. Out of control landing errors are part of the hobby we will ALL experience. No doubt he had $500 worth of backup electronics. But the field you fly at is just as important for sucessful flights. Guess the ran out of money for barriers after paving the runway. Do it right or don't do it.

Amigo, in fact, there are two different RC planes which crashed there. The one which is filmed, is not a A10, it is a Hawk. The A10 crash was not filmed, in fact, there are some photos, at the end of this clip. As a former safety officer at a club, I see several areas here that suck big time. 1st up  the caller should be reamed with a big rough;leaf pineapple. 2nd the barriers wouldnt stop a toddler on a pedal trike. The spotters should have stopped that hawk, its what they are there for. I've stopped a model myself from hitting the flighline before whilst spotting.

Bad piloting from the hawk aswell. Stalling and inputs on the elevator only worsened it.

It looks like the spotters fended for themselves, they jumped away while he got hit. Seen this A-10 Fly at Capital Jets in Albany Ny, A real shame. The only solice I can see from the video, Bob didnt get hurt, he hit pretty hard when he went down, and the a-10 didnt kill anyone. No matter what we all know what we get into with these planes, but it really sucks when you lose a plane due to complete stupidity.

The spotter should have been watching , that's why they call them spotters. i don't know what he was doing. video says he was on his phone. most places i fly, cell phones aren't allowed on the flight line.
