This is exactly what I needed. I play in drop b now but metalcore is still kinda tough for me. But this made it easier. Hope you don't mind if I write down some of your riffs so I can show my local teacher of what I want to learn. :)
I'm starting a support group for bassists who play with guitarists who use alternate tunings.
Nothing worse than turning up to a first practice and one of the guitarists is using some bizzare tuning that sounds great in his bedroom but no one else can play with him.
Or you could just learn how to set up a guitar yourself, and knowing the ins and outs of your intrument instead of paying money to get a freakin tech to do it for you.
AWESOME LESSON ! ! ! You should do more of these, all the fillintheblank-core players want lessons like this one, 'cause I don't really think there is a better guitar player than Dave in any metalcore band out there.
@AllOfUsLoveSpam To be honest if your going to drop B I'd use 12's. they feel perfect for tensions and everything. But its about preference. 11's to me would be like Drop Db or Eb. Maybe drop C.
i love how ur just inproving and while your telling us what u just did u can keep adding new notes. as for my own sound i cant get the hang of on and off palm muting, also i cant seem to keep the sound going after the pinch harmonic, any tips?
@wearblackclothes Hmmm, is your guitar tone suitably heavy/distorted? i tend to find if my guitar tone isnt meaty enough, pinch harmonics are alot harder to keep going.
@HaistaPaska92 I prefer a whole step,or drop C.High enough to play pop culture songs and still be comprehendable,but low enough to sound mean and get the point across ;) Anything lower than that and Im getting a 7 string haha
@HaistaPaska92 yeah its got more clear crunch to it. i love drop b or c standard for solos. makes it easy to use legato and whatnot lol. plus it always sounds great with classical scales
Wow man thanks you helped out allot :D

@Turdinator7
Definitely, make sure you adjust it. I don't use trems, but I know if you get thicker gauge strings, you're gonna have to change the tension.

all you really need to do to a floyd rose is maybe add a spring, and adjust the tension, right?
