  • This song is beutiful! Perfectly done and good tempo! BRILLIANT!

  • @Trooper9110 Thanks for watching.

  • Beautifully done. Speaks to the soul.

  • @MrEricgal Thank you.

  • breath taking..

  • Thank you.

  • Beautifully performed, Ken; singing and playing! I don't think I've ever heard the whole song before, for some reason. The lyrics are beautiful. X

  • yes, it's one of my favourite songs. I remember I got slated on Cosmos for like the song. I think I did 4 different versions just to annoy people.

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele You're joking! I've not heard anything good about Cosmos!! Good on you, Ken. :-) X

  • i love this song very much since i was a child :D i learned about it when the irish boyband called "westlife" covered this song.

  • I love the song too.

  • Wonderfully done good sir

  • Thanks again.

  • Tenerife, Spain, Africa.

'Nice job, but don't you think it's a bit illogical (pretentious) only putting the French version's lyrics when you've only sung the English version for people who are only interested in the English version?

Why not simply put lyrics for what you've sung?

When we want the French version we'll get it elsewhere on Youtube.

    Best wishes,

    Solstice.

  • Adieu l'émile je t'aime bien!! you'r enjoye me! thanks. ms catpeople

  • Thank you.

  • Yep here it is- brilliant :)

  • Thank you, Caroline. It's a great song. There's a big debate about it on Cosmos.

  • I like this. Nice reverb too!

  • Thanks.

  • That's really nice - and such a clear recording.

  • Thanks.

  • Wonderful rendition!

  • Thanks very much.

  • well played

  • Thank you.

  • great.

  • Thanks

  • Awesome singing in this one. My mother listened a lot to Brel when I grew up - I love french lyrics.

  • Thanks R. Have you been away?

  • Yes I've been on the island Gotland (between sweden and latvia) for a week without internet. I almost didn't make it, bad withdrawal... But now I'm back!

  • Welcome back.

  • Better than the original!

  • The original may sound a bit dated, but it is very powerful. Thanks for the comment.

  • Don't underrate yourself. I know you're really good.

  • Beautiful. Some of my favourite lyrics ever are in this song. Wonderful

  • Thanks Shane.

  • I heard many version of this song. but I didn't know. This is french..

It is sad sad song. It mplies a suicide...

  • Listen to Jacques Brel's version in French. Amazing.

  • marvelous Ken.....

    absolutely loved it...

    cheers,

    todd

  • Thanks very much, Todd.

  • Too much wine. Too much song.

    What's wrong with that?

    Great cover Ken!

  • Thank you, Brad.

  • Beautiful, Ken. Made me a bit teary....

  • Hi Kim. It's a sad song alright.

  • Belgian, Jacques Brel ! Thank You, and Thank You for His original Arrangement. Nicely Sung, and Played. Bravo!

  • Thanks very much.

  • You always do these great covers of folk songs that make me want to listen to more folk music.

  • Thanks.

  • Bravo !!!!!

  • Thanks.

  • thanks for the info on the song. had no idea that terry jacks wasn't the writer.

    nice version, well done!

  • Thanks Jeff.

  • Nice version, Ken. Terry Jacks' version was my first introduction to Brél - I've often thought of trying to get my tongue around "Ne me quitte pas"

    5 stars

  • Thanks Tony.

Brel has an amazing presence when he is singing.

  • Amazing singing and playing! Very well done.

    Jamie

  • Thanks Jamie.

  • Wow, very touching. I forgot how wonderful this song is...

  • Thanks very much.

  • great song, reminds me of school

    nice work ken superb feel

  • Thank K.

  • i like

  • Thanks Alan.

  • Superb!

  • Thanks Phil.

  • Thanks - nice song - wonderfully executed!

    g

  • Thank you.

  • Really beautiful Ken! I loved this song back in the 70s. I love your version of it. I'd never heard of the French version so I'll go and look that up now.

  • There are several videos on YT. Look up Le Moribond.

  • Wow. My mom used to play this song all the time. Great job Ken!

  • Thanks Deach. I remember it well. I hadn't heard it for years until I heard it in the car the other day.

  • Beautiful, Ken.

I'll go look up the original.

  • He sings it with real intensity and his words convey far more than "joy" and "fun".

  • I haven't heard that song in such a long time - my fave bit is that "wind cries mary" thing you do after the chorus though! You mention Alex Harvey in the info, what a trip that guy was, legend!

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • Ken

Loved that one . Sensitive and felt.

    Congrats

  • Thank you, Stew.

  • great job Ken .

  • Thanks Stephen.

  • Jacques Brel is alive and well.

    Loon

  • Thank you, Loon.

  • Alex Harvey covered this song!? Which album? He does a great job of Brel's Next also. Cheers.

  • No idea which album. Sorry.

  • sweet rendition! really nice!

  • Thanks Christoph.

  • First time I hear this one in English. Beautiful rendition. I love Brel's songs... (even it's often sad...)

    Val

  • Thanks Val. Brel's version is way up in front. The English lyrics lack the subtlety of the French.

  • can i say this was gently awesome? the lighting was perfect too. 5*****

  • Thanks Russ. Listen to Jacques Brel's original - it's really amazing.

It's just side light from a window in to a darkish room.

  • great song nice cover ken once again well done

  • Thanks very much.

  • This song gives me shivers~

  • Me too. Thanks HH.

  • Great one man!

  • Thank you.

  • I'm going to try out Worths on my ukes next. This sealed it. They sound very clean.

Lovely picking. But the stars that we reached were just starfish on the beach.

  • Haha. Are you always in a good mood?

  • Happiness is hard work. I made up my mind a long time ago to be happy. :D

I just noticed the Jimi phrasing in between the lyrics!

  • It must be subconscious. I hear it too. It was actually my one concession to the Terry Jacks recording. After Jacques Brel's version (way up in front), the Beach Boys do a good attempt.

  • Wonderful! Not nearly as creepy as the Terry Jacks version. ;)

  • Haha. But creepy nonetheless!!

  • I just had a listen to the original version Le Moribond. Such a nice song. I don't know exactly what he was singing but I enjoyed his enthusiasm. Appears he went too soon, only 49.

  • Highest marks for that, Ken! It gets me right there--no, there!--there? Well, wherever it gets me, it can be found among my favorites.

  • Haha. Thanks Don. It's always been a favourite of mine.

  • Lovely. I also really like the black and white. It helps define the song somehow. It is very clear, sound and sight. Excellent picking.

  • Thank you, Lynda. I thought that with the song being French and half a century old black and white would be appropriate.

I like black and white anyway.

  • Great Job!

  • Thank you.

  • Very nice Ken! I like the sound of the Worths on the Kanilea.

  • They are not quite right for strumming, but they make it ring like a bell.
