There is two sides to Frank Rizzo ... the first is a tough Mayor/Police commissioner that keep the streets crime down . The second is a man that intimadated the press ..violated innocent peoples civil rights .. didn't feel that he had to answer questions about corruption in his administration ...
The only people who called Rizzo a racist were the scum and their familes who weren't afforded the opportunity to steal or sell drugs under his clock. Rizzo protected the lives of honest hard working citizens no matter what race they were. So people wish they were tough. Some people will talk tough after a guy is dead but they forget we all die. Rizzo didn't wish he was tough, he was tough.
"Why would people write these sort of things? I don't understand!" What a load of horse shit! Gordon understood perfectly! He's using a cute little tactic common among journalists to get ratings. First you lure your subject into a false sense of security, then you hit them with questions they can't possibly answer in order to make them look guilty. Fact - in our society the burden of proof is SUPPOSED to be on the ACCUSER, NOT the accused! In Logic this is called the onus probandi fallacy
racist to the core! he should have served time, life in prison. It's embarrassing to know other countries look at these type of politicians we elect in office. Rizzo. Disgusting. America's Dark Secrets documentary coming soon..
The reason Philadelphia is in the current state it's in is because our politicians have lacked the gumption of a guy like Frank Rizzo for decades. I won't pretend to have been around during his tenure as police commissioner/mayor, but the stories my dad told me and the stuff I've read makes this guy okay by me. A man who truly looked out for the interest of HONEST citizens and not the sponging, worthless, violent, city destroying losers our current administration seems so hell-bent on coddling.
I say this as someone with not a drop of Italian blood in my body, I have not one problem with Rizzo turning a blind eye to the Cosa Nostra as Mayor. Matter of fact, I think we woulda' been better off not going after the Italian mob as vigorously as we did in the 1960s through the 1990s because the Russian and Hispanic gangs that are running running a lot of the drug trafficking are 10 times more violent.
Brother, I understand your reasoning. Perhaps better would be to eliminate corruption, drugs and gangs. Not to focus on gang ethnicity. If you analyse the situation, obviously these gangs prosper through weak government, justice and policing.
Bigstick. I come from a strick Sicilan family. Frank was as dirty as they get. I can not get in to all of it. Because you have know way of knowing what I tell you is true. I have been at the end of one of his night sticks as a kid growing up in Philly. Frank was connect. Games ran open and free in most parts of Philly. Like I said. He was good for Philly. Street crime was low. Gangs could not have more then tree in a group at one time. But the under world was safe to do as they wanted.
@skeetcva34 I grew up and my family ran gambling operations in South Philly. Nothing was run open under Rizzo's clock. I personally was involved in at least 5 raids of illegal gambling when Rizzo was mayor. Anyone who tries to say that things were run open because of Rizzo is talking out of their ass, like you.
Frank was Good for Philly at that time. But Dont think for a second he had no Mob ties. Frank was in there pocket. The Mob ran Philly. Rizzo was dirty. But Philly was a safer place to live in then. If you knew the right person who knew Rizzo. You could get a lot of things fix.
@skeetcva34 You're good at talking out of your ass. Nobody had Rizzo in their pocket, especially the mob, mafia, or whatever you want to call it. A matter of fact, Rizzo was the most feared person by what you call the Philly mob. He would raid their operations at will. He did nothing for them and he was untouchable. You my friend are clueless.
I wish I could have been a cop in Frank Rizzo's Philly. My favourite quote "Break their heads is right". Now that's the kind of peptalk a Police Force deserves. BAM!
I met this guy in '75. He was a uncle to one of my friends in CT and through him and the school they managed a 2 day trip to Philly where we got a tour of its attractions and a sit-down with the mayor where he gave a speech and answered questions. It was pretty cool and every kid got this fancy gift box and inside is a chip from the original independence hall and a plaque and a scroll that he autographed when he handed them to us. I just re-found this box and it made me look him up.
Frank was well aware of the liberal media bias well before the general public. It's so obviously blatant now, but back then, folks generally accepted as truthful what hacks like Gordon spewed.
The Lou Gordon Show on Sunday nite 10 pm here in Boston on Ch 56, was great and not to be missed. The guy was a pit bull who took no crap from anybody. Can you imagine if he were alive today with Pres Obama ?? He's Bill O'Reilly turned up a notch or two. The only guy who could be today's Lou would be I think Don Imus. He tells it like it is, but he's got handcuffs on !!
@Lcollins1208 that thug/gangster sure didn't play should have did life in prison b4 he passed away. smdh...America's Dark Secrets documentary coming soon.

If only Lou Gordon was around in the age of Obama. By the way, is the Mayor the reason for the Jerky Boys infamous Frank Rizzo?

@skeetcva34 Why, because he was Italian? There really is no proof. Ed Koch was Mayor when the mo was in control of NYC, but had no ties to them.
