  • akgfbakjfgbbbg killing an arab fjgbaksdgjbakjgbak j

  • Whoaaaa, what's going on with everyone hating Pink Floyd? They are, (just like The Cure) one of the best British bands of all time.

  • Dutch people have a better taste than English? What a lucky.

  • interviewer - "i heard u r called the pink floyd of the 80s, what do u think of that?"

    Robert - "its sh*t"

    great answer haha priceless. :)

  • quaint boldness mixed with youthful insecurity. thanks for uploading.

  • three imaginary boys rocked!

  • GODS!!!!!!

  • 1:48 we're the cure of the 80's = classic!

  • looooooool, robert says at the end that they will make 3 albums in the next week !!!!

  • esta entrevista es un clasico...los gestos de Simon ;)

    /m/

  • 1980-1982 WICKED FUCKERS THE CURE I miss that time of them Faith Seventeen Seconds Pornography all goodi wonder if robert ever Smoked Weed i mean id like to know they did do a show in amsterdam

  • @may301985 I'm sure Robert Smith smoked a joint now and then, but I think that eventually he couldn't fit it between all of the other shit he was on.

  • robert wasn't arrogant at all!! he was serious about the three albums.. when they started they had signed a contract for five years, in which they had to produce an album per year. I admire Robert's sincerity

  • lol and simon can talk....wooow

  • Robert ain't arrogant. he's shy, and sometimes shy people come across as arrogant. Peope used to think that of me when really it was pure bashfulness....

  • @83Brokenwings You know you are so right on what you said. He is shy and that does get mistaken for being arrogant. Robert was definitely rebellious in his early days but that was a good thing really. He wasn't someone's walking mat for sure. It is what made The Cure what it is today. A little rebellion goes a long way sometimes!! :))

  • You know i do not believe Robert was anymore arrogant or cockier than the rest of us were when we were that age. Its just being young. If you look at Robert smith 20 years later, he has lost that so called attitude and his dimeanor seems to be much more shy and there is no arrogance that i can see. it all comes with growing up. I've loved the cure, Robert and their music for 24 years now. They are the best, no comparison. I love you Robert forever!

  • I'm pretty sure Robert says: "We're The Cure of the 80's, not Pink Floyd."

  • Wow, so great to see the young pissed off Robert, and see Lol and Simon being all punk!! ha..

  • wE aRe gOInG tO bRInG oUt 3 nEw aLbUMs iN tHe bEGinIng Of nEkS wEEk....

    thE cURe iS tHe bESt!!!!!

  • Simon looks so cool!

This is really rare.. an interview from 1980!

I love how they just wanted to make music and don't think about getting mainstream and how fame isn't their first aim it's just about the music. I really appreciate that rebellious way they were especially back then (see: A Forest at Werchester, or the Desperate Journalist, or when they changed their instruments on TOTP cos they were forced to mime.

they didn't want to subject the "big bosses"

  • you are the Pink Floyd of the 80's sheet hahahahaha nice answer WE ARE THE The Cure of the 80's that is a classic words, what smart kid you were Rob, and what a Genius man you are now, love it

  • AAhAAAAAAA THE pussy is back and you stink more than ever....'the pink floyd of the 80's'.....dickfuck....I DONT THINK ITS 1980 ANYMORE..????.AT LEAST THE LAST TIME I CHECKED IT WASNT......BUT YET....you keep on coming back....go bother the Morrisey lovers......they like people like you.....

  • well they actually did bring out 2 albums in 2 months, earlier that year. boys don´t cry in february and seventeen seconds in april.

  • i never hear lol talk, haha it's weird

  • they're awesome

  • I Drink HEINEKEN And Watch This Clip

  • " we are gonna bring out 3 new albums in the begining of next week"

    "really?"

    "yeah"

i think someone is not on mood for an interview...of stupid questions XD

  • "Fuck Pink Floyd.." pretty bold statement from Mr. Bob. LOL.

  • FUCK PINK FLOYD yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

    (:

  • hahaha!! We are the cure of the 80´s!!

  • ok i wanna say i agree eroberts wicked and can be sarcastic to any stupid question i love THE CURE I LOVE U ROBER SIMON LOL U rule SEVENTEEN SECONDS Is one of my most fav CURE Records Wooo i love that u can put the cure on and just drink to it fucking DRINKING MUSIC WERE THE CURE OF THE 80S NOT PINK FLOYD Fuck FLOYD

  • Nothing wrong wit Pink Floyd so sut up. If u like the cure than you better behave like these great people and dont be so stupid tx.

  • there young.. enough said. there is no reason to bash anyone.

  • If you think Robert is a pussy then why are you here to check it out..?? He has every reason to be arrogant when they ask stupid fuckin questions....they're still around now aren't they?? He is extremely intelligent and people can't take it when its dished back cuz they don't like to hear they way things really are...He's fuckin amazing--could listen to him talk for hours and hours and hours....The Cure~100%~all the way....now I can die happy~~ and by the way pussy...YOU SUCK~hate elsewhere :)

  • You are a tit, and you seriously need to get out more. Why make an actual account called robert smith is a pussy. You are wierd, honestly.

  • I agree. he's really an arrogant person

  • there is nothing wrong with being arrogant

    i love that about him

    thecure4ever!

  • I wouldn't say arrogant.. I would say rebellish cos that is that what comes to my mind when I think of The Cure especially in 1979-1980 with for example mocking a journalist with their Grinding Halt/Desperate Journalist version or their TOTP performance

but anyways as I said this is great stuff and I sometimes wish that time would stand still they look so amazing in this vid, especially Simon.

My favourite 'time' of the Cure is actually from 1980-1982 afterwards it got more pop..

  • @Mstar82

    yea rebellish arrogant

its thing i love about them

and oh yes i love them from 1980-1982

but i still love them the same all there music is amaizng not matter what

  • They are 20 here and rebelious and from the UK. Must be some bit of arrogant then. Its normal. Maybe teh interviewer must ask better questions and didnt let them drink beer before they had that interview :)

  • This is GREAT!They are all drinking their Heineken's during the photo shoot and the interview.AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • probaby high on coke too

  • Im sure that too

  • Pink Floyd are great, but The Cure are definitely better, loads better

    and god LOVE Robert Smith!

  • you could tell that Robert was/is always was the engine of The Cure, vision, creativity all that. Simon ahh simon, you were super nice when i met you, your bass sounds drip like honey goodness.hehehe

  • pink floyd wtf the cure are much better pink floyd ? too much bullls shit in there songs.random bull shit and shit but i like both bands lol

  • I don't agree with the "fuck pink floyd remark" robert says, but I certainly agree that there aint no hint of comparition between the two being totally different bands. I love both bands just as equal but of course back then the cure set their standards for something real and moody.

  • hahahaha, yeah FUCK Pink Floyd

  • Hahah someone that feels the same way I do!

  • I don't think he says " fuck " . He says NOT , and that is the translation .

  • HaHa! They made the interveiwer and photocrew look like a bunch of wankers!I wish the band was still Smith Gallup and Tolhurst. They were Perfection!

  • Simon looks like he's on junk. Love how they flip off the photographers at the beginning (British version of flipping off).

  • Simon is obviously either drunk or fucked on something.

But yeah, they obviously didnt want to do an interview and the interviewer had shit questions.

  • mmm...Dutch!...I reminds me listen that in TRansavia flight´s :)

    SIMoOOoOOOoOON

  • What kind of language is this? ...it sounds Greek...

Robert looks like a naughty teenager

    Simon is sooo cuteeeeeeee :)

I wish I was born in the middle 70s, probably could be easier to enjoy Cure´s music in that ages :[

  • no darling you can enjoy the cure whenever you want, as long as you were born, you got a chance..hehehe.

  • Robert said shit ahahah....takin a piss outta those stupid journalists...hahah

  • haha that was just great. Robert was basically insulting the journalists the whole interview. Especially when he said "we're gonna put out three new albums"

    "really?"

    "yeah" haha awesome.

  • LOL and look at Simon trying not to laugh

  • SO FRIGGIN YOUNG! ive seen this only once in my life and its always fun to watch again!

  • He bloody knew The Cure would be so huge band in the next years. I like how careless about those dumb journalists he always is. Robert is genius.

  • Gracias The cure!

    GRACIAS!

  • LMAO look how fucked up Simon is!!! I love it!

  • Simon is so awesome :)

    haha and Robert "it's shit"

  • can't believe that's robert, how weird

  • haha tolhurst

  • nice... dutch subtitles ^^

  • "we're the cure of the 80s" lol..claasssssssss

  • I think trying to categorize the cure is OK, even though they are quite different to Pink Floyd. I feel sorry for the journalist!!! Robert Smith's best guitar was back in 1980. Unfortunately I think I liked the beer to much, & is guitar playing has never been as good. In fact Robert Smith was rated as av ery good guitarist back in 1980, but today I don't think he will be remembered for it!!!

  • I'm thirteen, and I only have one thing to say abou this video!......WHY CAN'T IT BE THE 80'S!!!!!?????

  • i dont know, this time period now is pretty crap, if i had only one wish it would to have been born in early 60s, mmmmm

  • i was 13 in the 80's. and we thought the 80's sucked. we all said, "the 60's were cool" but looking back, it was pretty rad. skateboarding, mtv, new wave, hip hop and home computers were all the new shit back then. appreciate this decade, cause in 20 years, some 13 yr old kid is gonna tell you he wishes it was back then.

  • yeah i wish lived then

  • @redwine1797 lameo

  • There guys are stonnnnnnnned!!!

  • LOVE IT LOVE IT L

  • Robert still speaks in the same way as he did then (in 1980). I agree with Robert... "People who compare have a lack of imagination". I think 17 Seconds' had that atmosphere which perhaps made some people draw comparisons to Pink Floyd... but seriously The Cure were unique even then... they had their own way of doing things. Btw, both Simon and Robert seem drunk (or were acting drunk) in this video.

  • this is so true....unique in most ways...i dont think many people picked up on this..They just thought they were weirdo`s and depressing/I still think robert is the best songwriter the world has produced..on par with Lennon and McCartney. They were drunk on this...on the gig u can see beer on the amps too...Heineken mainly:)Thanks for posting a comment...long live the cure!

  • People don't understand my uniqueness...they stare at me whever I go and yell things like "fag!" at me...which is strange because there's nothing really gay about me.

  • kil est mal coiffé simon là !!!

  • haha love how simon laughs when robert says about the three albums lol

  • that bit about the Cure being the Pink Floyd of the '80's was shown on the band's appearance on MTV Icon a couple of years ago

  • Memories...I want my youth back...

  • haha! that was so good, love what robert said about people putting things into categories, when i started watching i thought robert would say anything because he seemed to be avoiding the camera ha! thanks for posting this

  • the easy cure punkers.

  • i'dont not what are you say !!??

The Cure ... and Smith JA! aimvelibeblo

    Gracias The cure !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL, Robert and co. are a bit out of sorts and antagonistic in this one, aren't they? I love how the interviewer asks Robert why people are calling them "the Pink Floyd of the 80s", and he answers bitingly, "because they lack imagination". And seriously -- Pink Floyd?!? How did they ever draw THAT comparison? Ah, well. Thanks for the vid!

  • I think maybe because some of earlyl PF's tunes like 'careful with that axe, eugene' & 'set the controls', tend to be droning, and plenty of mystery, etc... also, if you listen to the cure's b-side 'splintered in her head', the drumbeat is almost the same as a part of PF's 'saucerful of secrets'.

  • Your videos are a treasure!

  • Thx for uploading this !

  • Thank you for uploading this!

  • thanks indigocure for putting up this video!
