  • this just sounds so good

  • The guitarist looks and sounds cool as fuck.

  • This was an iconic song for me, in '78 I was 12 and it was THIS band and similar (no room here to list them all) and in '77, that had a real impact on my thinking. I always wished we'd studied their lyrics at school in English lessons. Reading the recent comments here, it doesn't matter how old they are, these guys and others who had the guts to create, express, perform and record deserve some respect.

  • It's depressing seeing them so old. There should come a point when they are forcibly retired so not to embarrass themselves any longer. Punk was a radical, white, working class youth movement. Seeing these balding old buggers creaking around the stage ruins it.

    Some dignity please.

  • @GamesFrontiers Jesus, you're gonna be old someday too, you squirt.

  • @GamesFrontiers

    Working class youth movement....?

  • yes, the best band coming out of that post-punk period. saw them twice in 78.

  • Underated but the best band from that generation

  • kenSAFC...100% correct...mesmerising sound...if ever there was a band you could get..'lost in music' it was/is this band.

  • I know that Howard resurrected Magazine back in '09 but for the love of God, can somebody please tell me if Magazine is still at it and back together for 2011 or possibly 2012?!?

And if not, is Howard Devoto at least performing solo somewhere and still performing Magazine songs at least??

  • @jrmetmoi Apparently they're playing the Hop Farm Festival in Tonbridge, end of June/beginning of July.

  • @1972Muttley Yeah thanks. I did find out about that one but they need to come to London because I cannot go to any festivals for all three days this summer!

  • Hoolee shit! Seriously hard to imagine that it's over thirty years since first hearing this. Awesome performance!!

  • This man is Howard Devoto who left the Buzzcocks back in the 70's to form Magazine. Check out the album real life if you like this.

  • @toolmanchris I own Real Life Spiral Scratch and of course the Times Up Bootleg. He still sounds as good he did back then. Howard Devoto and Johnny Rotten are and always will be my Punk heros!!
