This was an iconic song for me, in '78 I was 12 and it was THIS band and similar (no room here to list them all) and in '77, that had a real impact on my thinking. I always wished we'd studied their lyrics at school in English lessons. Reading the recent comments here, it doesn't matter how old they are, these guys and others who had the guts to create, express, perform and record deserve some respect.
It's depressing seeing them so old. There should come a point when they are forcibly retired so not to embarrass themselves any longer. Punk was a radical, white, working class youth movement. Seeing these balding old buggers creaking around the stage ruins it.
I know that Howard resurrected Magazine back in '09 but for the love of God, can somebody please tell me if Magazine is still at it and back together for 2011 or possibly 2012?!?
And if not, is Howard Devoto at least performing solo somewhere and still performing Magazine songs at least??
@1972Muttley Yeah thanks. I did find out about that one but they need to come to London because I cannot go to any festivals for all three days this summer!
Great performance for a band that really understood dramatic writing and performance. These guys were so influential to me and brought the punk movement forward into the future. John Mc Geough RIP .
@toolmanchris I own Real Life Spiral Scratch and of course the Times Up Bootleg. He still sounds as good he did back then. Howard Devoto and Johnny Rotten are and always will be my Punk heros!!
this just sounds so good
