  • Orc General at 4:34: "OH. CRAP."

  • Orc General at 4:34: "OH. CRAP."

  • Orc General at 4:34: "OH. CRAP."

  • I cant contain myself. I always need to cry in this scene especially with the epic music.

  • WTF?? I wanted to see Gandalf bust out some powerful hidden powers or something badass. This was part of the deleted scenes correct? lol

  • 0:59 The world of men... HAS NOT FALLEN!

  • in italian is much better than in english ;-). hearing to belive ;-)

  • As badass as Eomer may be, he hasn't got shit on that fucker at 4:43

  • Apparently they needed longer pikes.

  • 4:40 ... shit just got real !

  • Forth Eorlingas - Epic!!!

  • Watch this while playing Two steps from hell - Heart of Courage (Extended Version)

  • As much as I love these movies, they give very innumerate portrayals of how battles are fought.

Unsupported cavalry, what are doing? 200,000 enemies standing still would eventually break that charge. I mean 6000 is a lot of cav but it can't make it through 200,000, even if they are orcs. Physics doesn't let you do that. That and the fact that every battle was one blob attacking the other blob. Absolutely no flanking or maneuvering.

Oh well, still awesome as fuck

  • @SupaTROopa2 It's not supposed to be realistic.

  • @catalinaga I know, it gave me such a false depiction of how battles were actually fought. So much more to war. Most movies don't show this either.

  • @SupaTROopa2 The books were better, Tolkien actually describes the bulk of the Rohirrim tactic rather than it just being a glorious death-charge into the fray.

  • @TheHollywoodV1 I read the books in grade 3, way to early for me I remember near nothing. Maybe it's time for re read.

  • Man it is still one of the most epic scenes in the entire trilogy! Nothing says awesome than 6 000 cavalry running over 200 000 orcs! :P

  • I thank goodness that the scene with Gandalf and the King Witch of Angmar was deleted in the movie...it sucks. Gandalf will never had his staff broken by such vile creature nor Tolkien will have ever accepted the idea.

  • 0:58-1:20 ooooooooo chills!!!

  • Gandalf would so own the bitch king.

  • Why is Dark Vador afraid of a bunch of vikings ? Oh wait...

  • oh my god, I just want to... to... freakin charge some orcs with an ax or something..

  • Rohirrim charge + Muse- Uprising = JIZZ IN MY PANTZ

  • @redsoxaholic1 No thats fucking gay you homo and muse sucks

  • @spicandspamful Oh your obviously some fag who listens to lil wayne and yung money. Tone deaf bitch.

  • Most fucking epic scene in history of cinema

  • Comment removed

  • Dude...I don't know about you...but six thousand viking horseman screaming "DEATH!" would make me poop my orc undies!

  • they dont make fucking movies like this no more :(((

  • Gives me goosebumps every time.

  • i wish i could take this back in time and show tolkien in his later years, let him know that what he created would echo outwards, giving people light and hope and joy.

  • @cthulhlu "What we do in life echoes through eternity." --Decimus Meridius Maximus

  • ladies, gentlemen, behold. the most Glorious Epic thing you will ever see.

  • Only in a movie will you ever see a leader actually leading the attack... That's why it's epic

  • @MarcoPolansky Actually, ancient kings used to do this A LOT. For example, even though actually King of Macedon, Alexander the Great became a powerful Imperator. He was notorious for riding at the tip of his companion cavalry bodyguard - they rode in wedge formations to smash open Persian infantry formations initially eg Battle of Gaugamela. He was the bravest bastard of his day. His generals begged him to not put him self in such obvious risk (or wear bright capes etc) but he just did it.

  • @ThePalaeontologist A loooong time ago.. and not a LOT. Some of them did, other were more strategic. But my comment had other meaning x]

  • @ThePalaeontologist and then the romans came and showed them a proper war is waged with brutality and logistics :P

  • @Lumenpraebeo Oh, in which case Carrhae, Cannae, Trebia, Ticinus, Trasimine, Teutoburg, Andrianople and many others, would surely be Roman victories...and at that easy ones. right? No. All Roman DEFEATS. The Romans were damned good, but certainly not invincible. The myth of Roman omnipotence is widespread. They failed for a reason in the end; they were too weak to defend themselves, even with dozens of legions. The phalanxes of Alexander were outdated by the time of Augustus I would say. Still.

  • @ThePalaeontologist irrelevant, they still lasted the longest and achieved the most. Defeats mean nothing on the face of all that the romans were capable of doing and did. My point was that although alexander was a proper general, the romans beat them. Why?

  • @Lumenpraebeo Again, incorrect. The empire collapsed after about 500 years, yes, but this achievement was more the achievement of successive generations of Romanisation. Look at North Africa, in places like Timgad. Huge roman cities home to the 3rd biggest amphitheatre they ever built...but many classical historians and archaeologists argue it was the romans whom became more Africanised than anything else, ironically. I did Classical Civilisation at College amongst other things btw...oh and...

  • @Lumenpraebeo ...Rome beat Alexander's Macedon??? That NEVER happened. Alexander's colossal empire won in less than a few years lasted only as long as he lived. When he died the Macedonian Empire fractured into warring factions led by the generals; Ptolemy in Eygpt, Cassander in Macedon, Niarchus and Craterus in Bactria, Seleucus in Persia...and so on. These powerful forces fought hard and hundreds of years before Rome dared to expand into Gaul etc. Rome was a swamp village turned stronghold.

  • Ride now....ride now!, ride, ride for ruin, and the worlds ending....DEEEATH!

  • Would that the world today offer such a perfect definition of right and wrong? For this I would gladly trade all I possess, for the chance to be a part of such a battle. Should I fall, weep not for me but bear me home upon my shield, and say "This was a man who fought with honor." May the Valkyries deem me worthy and bear me to Odin's Halls, where we will revel until called forth to the battle at the end f all things.

  • Thats a king you follow, first line charging

  • If i were an orc on that frontline , I'd get the heck out of there.

  • the scene with witch king is made on mushrooms, it should be different,he never broke him, they didnt want to confront at all. i compared Battle with the book versions and its so changed, and i mean in the bad way.and if you watch it as many times i did, its shitty editing.for example there is same shot of eomer with spear tree times in 5 minutes.and i hate to say this, but mass scenes from braveheart look way better.

  • and after the charge you hear the most annoying sound Ever, turns around, and feels something warm going down your legs. :P

  • definatley one of my top 5 favourite movie scenes....ever

  • This scene shows the true capacity of man´s will and the power of his soul. There is no limit when you truly believe in what you fight for.

  • Best movies ever in the history of Cinema!

  • That's the most epic scene ever in the history of everything that has been ever seen in the the timeline of cinema.

  • The Battle of the Pelennor Fields alone had, like, 3 climaxes at least. This one is the best.

  • 3 694 orcs were harmed in the making of this video...

  • I LOVE THE SOUNDS OF THE HORNS!!!!!

  • 4:43 go on my son

  • @Greatenglishboy

this guy would win vs aragorn lol

  • @Greatenglishboy Yeah I really like that guy!

  • Oh my fuckin god, it's so epic!!!

  • im just at this chapter in the book :D

  • Never has there been a better scene than when it pans to the top at 4:36.

  • 04:41 - me first, me first! XD

  • What wall?

  • "Form and fear no darkness!"

  • 23 orcs that survived the charge disliked this video

  • Great scene, always gives me a chill up the spine. Although to nitpick... in the book the charge is more effective because it's a surprise attack. In the movie, Peter Jackson set it up so they stand on a hill for 5 minutes in full view of the enemy, wasting time chanting and getting everyone riled up, thus giving the Orcs time to ready their archers and pikemen. Dumb tactical move.

  • greatest violin solo of all time

  • i just want to know, did Tolkein write the actual speech or was that done by the script? Also, as i havnt read any of the books, apart from The Hobbit, did Tolkein actually describe the Charge of the Rohirrim at the Pennelor Films? - Plz answer, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @sol200997

The speech was taken directly out of Tolkien's writing, but not word for word. As with plenty of the rest of the movie script, the Theoden's speech is a hodge-podge of quotes said by various characters in the book. Most of the words in the movie speech are in fact Theoden's in the book; some are Eomer's. But they are all Tolkien's.

  • @TheLastPaladin I admire your knowledge .

  • @TheLastPaladin This particular speech? No, he pretty much gave this speech in the book minus the "death!" part and plus a "Fell deeds awake! Fire and slaughter!. But yeah, Jackson seemed to have little use for the context of Tolkien's words, and more use for the words themselves since Jackson probably can't write dialog worth a damn :/

  • @sol200997 He very vividly described everything the Rohirim did, this is because he made them on what he though Britain should have been. He held Calvary and the horse in high regard and it was his opinion that if England had Calvary way back in the day then France would not have been successful in their invasion and British culture would not have been as "french"

  • without a doubt, the best scene in film history

  • DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH! DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!

  • DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sauron made 23 accounts while in the abyss to dislike this.

  • LOL... it seems they're scared of horses..

  • Charge of rohirrim (-)9 to enemy morale

Defense freeze in panic, unable to move.

    Heroes of Might and Magic.

  • @warcanon do not EVER mention something as crappy as HOMM in a sentence linked with LOTR

  • @juni0rBG Heroes of might and magic...crappy? Are you sure you had a childhood?

  • @Thunderfork epic fantasy books/movies ARE NOT video games. I like HOMM but compared to LOTR it literally sucks. And yes, I had a childhood and I played HOMM3 all day.

  • A red daaaaaaaay!!!!

  • one of the greatest and emotionally stirring scenes and speeches ever..

  • The 23 remaining orcs disliked this

  • Gandalf: WTF IMBA FIRESWORD! *staff breaks*

*later on Gandalf uses Word of Power, annihilating 10,000 legions*

  • 23 people are orcs

  • @usercemal orcs that like doof-doof techno music

  • he a bitch for shattering gandalfs staff

  • I can' t stop pressing the replay button

  • Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises(F)

  • When i saw this scene in the theater my hair stood on the back of my neck. It was epic!

  • I love how the Witch King gets owned by a little hobbit and a woman. Pretty Ironic.

  • I always wondered how Gothmog got out of there alive :P

  • OK, now I'm collecting Rohan for War Of The Ring.....

  • "And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last"

  • @AB213100 okay, I am going to finally read the book now

  • @AB213100 oh u mean the vuvuzelas? xDDD

  • come rohan :)....for Gondor...

  • The lads out on the town after the battle..so thats 8000 kebabs with chilli sauce, 4000 without and a vege burger for Gandalf.

  • WoW This moment is just so fucking epic!!! With the Rohirrim theme in the back, AWESOME!

  • the Cavalry has arrived!

  • 23 people were killed by the orc archers before they could ride through them

  • I love it when Pippin steps forward in an attempt to face the Witch King. Gotta love the little ones and their courage.

  • At the starting Sauron voted Good, Then when he ಠ_ಠ the Rohirrim Charge he Voted BAD ಠ_ಠ XD!!!!

  • "Go forth, and fear no darkness! Arise, arise riders of Theoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day, a red day, ere the sun rises!"

"Ride now, ride now! Ride! Ride for ruin... and the worlds ending!"

"Death!" (DEATH!) "Death!" (DEATH! "Death!!" (DEATH!!!!)

  • "DEATH!!!" :)

  • What an incredible scene, this will always be my favorite movie.

  • 1:39, 2:10 and this charge is absolute cinematic genius.

  • 1:39 and this charge was absolute cinematic genius.

  • Man, there's only one thing wrong with this, it's that Gandalf was far more powerful in the books and absolutly DESTROYED the witch king (that's why he's so badass)

  • This looks more than 6000 Rohirrim...

  • What track on the soundtrack is this deliciousness?

  • @LukeLombard track 13. "The Fields of Pelennor".

  • Form ranks! Pikes in front, Archers behind!

  • I'm sorry, but that's just epic! If your chin doesn't raise up and your hair on your arm stand when watching this scene, your life has never known courage! Definitly influenced by the Polish charge on the Turks to save Vienna in 1883! DEATHHHHHHHHHH! :P

  • Sound the charge, take them head on, CHARGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • Press 9 for the most epic Rohirim :)

    thumbs up! ^^

  • My favorite is the guy on horseback at 4:43. A true berserker that one!

  • part 2 - I love the sense of fear you can feel facing such immense horror. I love the even greater courage they all make appeal to to follow their king in one desperate, final stand. Courage that boosts their energies and shatters the enemies' lines and defences. And that human roar only they can distinguish (Obviously the orcs can just hear a human roar from afar without really understanding what they have just been promised: death) and those horns meaning something anyone can distinguish. And

  • Books are always better than motion picture, because WE get to create the scene in our own minds and hearts. That said, PJ did a wonderful job, save Gandalf being overpowerd: that's just plain rubbish coming out of who knows where. Possibly to give you the idea that courage can give the frailest creatures in the fight the strenght to destroy what even magic can't beat. That would have sense, at least. The charge, what an emotion! I love the tired look when they arrive with no time to rest. I lo

  • Only Tolkien can so beautifully illustrate humanity coming together, forgetting its differences, and giving out a hearty charge of brotherhood...

When all the soldiers scream "DEATH!" together, that's probably one of the most powerful moments to me. It just makes you warm on the inside to see so many people give their lives for eachother, for their families, for their way of life.

  • that violin at the beginning of the cavalry charge fits perfectly

  • This is absolutely by far my favorite scene in any movie ever.

  • I love that look on the orc's face at 4:35. Something along the lines of," Dear me, we're screwed."

  • My nipples still get watching this scene.

  • 0.0 EPIC!...RIDE NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW,DEATHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • King Theoden is an awesome King. I happily fight for him till my last breath!!

  • DEATH!!!

  • God I love this movie! I want to get back in 2003 :(

  • pause at 4:34 ---> " oh sh*t " the look on his face

  • the charge of the rohimm is a mighty thing in the books

  • I also didn't like the Gandalf and Witch-king stand-off. It doesn't make sense for the witch king to be this powerful when he actually got pwned or warded off by Aragorn at Weathertop. The witch-king is more an enemy and match for men, not the Istari.

  • @darkuser999 He had less power then. Tolkien stated this in the books. By the time of Pelennor, he was fully energised.

  • @darkuser999 the nazgul draws their power from their dark lord @ weathertop they hadnt their full power and were far away of mordor

  • @SSeth123 At Weathertop, the plan was to retrieve the Ring and the Bearer. They were fought off by Aragorn. He isn't a normal man, remember: half elf, a descendant of Isildur, the true king of Men.

  • 4:42 that guy's pretty excited its the end of the world of men

  • he couldn't have killed him then fly off

  • Can someone could find me the soundtrack we have at 3:90.

    Thanks !

  • 22 orcs didnt like this video

  • uhmm if i was one of those orcs with "pikes" in the front that are about 5 feet long i would be like FUCK THIS SHIT IM OUTTA HERE

  • I really wished PJ had made the fume from mt doom that coverd the city in midnight darkness .The witch king coming through the broken gate still in the dark. That scene from the book always blew meaway.the fire burningin the fields outside the city, the headsof the slain catapulted along with the fireballs into the city. But this was awesom still!!

  • anyone else get goosebumps at 1:15?

  • Has got to be one of the best moments in cinema history!!! As soon as i learnt they were making the films it was one of the moments i was most looking forward to and it didn't dissapoint!

  • i hate this scene with the witch king. that never happened in the book. gandalf's staff never broke and he met the witch king on horse back before the gate, but never backed down or looked like he was intimidated.

  • DEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATH!!!!!

  • the witch king of angmar is so awsome

  • Pikemen.. er.. Pike-orcs panicked and broke ranks otherwise they might have held back that charge.

  • @Makoto55100 Just one charging horse is a force to be reckoned with, the charge would've broken through. the orcs might've held it for a little longer but they could never have held it back.

  • "Forth Eorlingas!"

  • that's my favourite shot of the movie at the end when they're riding right through them

  • @pauliewalnuts100 I always bloody cry through it and I can't cry

  • Sucks too be the guy that ACTUALLY fell off this horse during this scene.

  • lol 4:33 he shit himself

  • the horn was genius

  • imagine the force of impact if the rohirrim were wearing heavy plate and their horses were armoured as well

  • This scene cannot be topped by any other scene in any other movie. It just raises goose bumps every time I see it...

  • the book and movie are amazing

  • goose bumps

  • Love the guy at 4:43. He's just like, "come at me bro!"

  • Feels strange to say, but in this moument, i do feel sorry for the orcs..

  • Spears shall be shaken! Shields shall be splintered! A sword day! A red day! AND THE SUN RISES!

  • lol at 4:38 those orcs think: "I wish we had longer pikes and better armour!"

  • my heart always burn when i watch this...

  • Don't you guys get chills on your body when Theoden and the Eorlingas scream "Death" or when the horns of Rohan sound, or when the violin plays during the charge? It's awsome feeling.. Like you want to be there too.Forth Eorlingas!!

  • @TheHunterDemon It does give you chills.

  • "PIKES IN FRONT ARCHERS BEHIND"

  • @Hunkarov

Haha, all this time I thought he was saying "fights in front, not just behind", meaning they had to take on Gondor in on in side, and the Rohirrim on the other.

Even though I was wrong it still made sense.

  • @kooter02 Not necessarily, because those orcs were in the middle, and it wouldn't make sense to try and shift. The Rohirrim attacked from the flanks.

  • on this day it sucks to be a orc XD

  • I'd imagine the people in the back and to the far right can't hear him very well.

  • maybe its been said but the fact that the wizard king almost kills gandalf here is entirely against the spirit of the book. The way they portrayed gandalf in ROTK is just wrong!!!!!!
