  • And the hate begins!

  • ahh....Peri : )

  • @E101ification The best reason to watch "The Planet of Fire"....Peri in a bikini!

  • Good effect, though it loses the intensity of the original slightly. The heads floating around were a bit much, but the voices echoing were quite powerful for the scene.

  • Good job, but I like the original. Each to their own though :)

  • This was actually pretty good: it reflects the new FX for regeneration, and is less hammy than the dancing faces. All we need now is to find someone to tweak the music!

  • Nice touch, classic regeneration with a modernised twist. Seeing the five sidekicks whizzing around his head partially made the regeneration in my opinion.

  • Nice job with the regen, thats how it shoulda been.

  • Whatever you've done to the colour is excellent

  • press 3 repeatedly :P

  • liked the scene, but i think the original is one of the best regenerations because of the previous companions (especially nyssa) and the master!

  • I'd rather these regens were not done in the new series style, as I find it rather uninvolved and boring.

I think the classic era got it right with the struggle between death and new life being symbolised by the dreams and fears of the doctor. I'd love to see a modern take on that than a simple light flood.

  • pj hammond should have been producer for doctor who instead of john nathan turner who should have never EVER been producer for doctor who. colin baker and nicola bryant are fantastic actors they just were given bad scripts and bbc red tape to trip up the entire series in the early mid eighties.

  • AAAAAAAND the Doctor instantly goes nutz. cant stop lookin at Peri's boobs...LOL.

  • Next the arogant Dr. lol but he is awesome thou. Shame Peter left! He was terrific!

  • I think that the new 'exploding' regenerations are quite bad... Sure, Chris's regeneration wasn't too bad, but then they sort of ruined it by making David's the same. There was only the slightest bit of difference between the two, and when I say that, I mean the newer one was less orange...

  • The flashbacks should still be there I think, if you didn't like the spinning effect maybe you could have just used them as a voice over. Good new effects though.

  • that was pretty cool nice

  • Nice one! That looked the real thing and not tampered with at all. Really good work. I think the drama leading up to this regeneration was tops. The doc racing back to his Tardis with his dying assistant and dying himself. What it's all about. Good incidental music too (wish the bloke who's doing it at the mo for Matt Smith would calm down a bit - every bloody episode is like Indiana Jones - it's too much)

  • Good work, I wish the newTardis interior was similar to the old white look

  • Sooo much better than the original effect, GOOD work!

  • Colin could have been thought of a much bettter Doctor if he wore a one colour outfit and deceided to play his Doctor without too many ideas on how he wanted to play him and making the Doctou unlikeable in episode 1 did not help at all!. He later proved that he was one of the best, as he was the best of all the Big Finish productions of Doctor Who

  • It's not the colour of Colin's costume that was the trouble - it was the terrible writing he was victim of, and the terrible tastes of his producer...

4 Doctors for one producer... it's too many, man.

  • Poor Peri, stuck with Colin Baker. :(

  • @Miguelohara563 fate worse than Meth

  • thats way better

  • very creative

  • wow much better colours a job well done wish the BBC would do a job as well as this.

  • great re-edit!

  • mmm nice tits... ;p

  • @andyjimbo2006 lol one of the best regeneration scenes imo ;).

  • Agreed.

  • Hooray! I hate Adric anyway. Moany teenager with no place on the TARDIS.

  • I love the original, but this is a brilliant take! Should have been an alternative on the DVD release...

  • Wow, this was fantastic! A great improvement!

  • Can I suggest remaking the regeneration scene from Time and the Rani? I think that effect is terrible, and yours was great.

  • Good alternate edit. Could improve bit a bit by lightening the fx, and adding a little morphing, but otherwise good. Colin Baker rules.

  • Perhaps thats what kept him going.

  • how do you get the video with "clean" sound

  • Nicely done!

If you're ever into playing with this clip again, it might be neat to have that deep breath Colin takes result in a puff of the glowy smoke like Tennant exhaled post-regeneration.

  • i prefer the companions bit but you did it well

  • Very good.

  • i liked colin baker as the doctor

  • soooooooooooooooooo excellent

  • I'm not sure how I feel about what you did

  • Great job! Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks to timelordavenger & lukepietnik for directing me to this!

....but it really doesn't change my mind. Still an "A" for a great FX revamp but I guess I'm a fan of the classic version. besides the companions shot ties back to Tom Baker's regeneration. Still, it's a great job, cyberrob!

...and I LOVE the revamp on Pertwee's regeneration!

  • Comment removed

  • brilliant! Fancy redoing Colin/Sylvesters regeneration?

  • That's the best FX update I've ever seen.

  • And I didn't like the spinning companions either. I prefered Tom Baker's flashbacks.

  • Wicked!!

  • I normally love your work cyberrob, but this was one of my favourite regens (tom bakers being up there too). Hope they come up with a new effect for David Tennants, as one of my favourite things is the thrill of seeing what the regeneration will be like.

  • Nah,I thought it was a bit naff. I like to actually see his head change. But I agree about David Tennant. Chris into David was good,Derek into John was good but I think that effect's getting a bit old now.

  • I imagine the next regeneration will be vastly different from all the ones before. Almost a requirement after the false alarm.

  • The more violent the damage done to the doctor - usually - the younger his regeneration

After that trick he did to keep his body from burning up to feed the regenerative process (and whatever the specials are planning) I'd say your right about the tenth to the eleventh being a nasty one

  • Well, since Colin Baker was actually OLDER than Peter Davison, you're a little off, there...

  • I said 'usually' - this time, the instability of the regeneration manifested in the personallity and memory aspects of the character

  • Right; I was just saying. ;-)

  • I feel humbled :P

  • Nothing to get humbled over, mate...

  • -sigh- it was a joke :P

  • Sarcasm doesn't translate well over the Internet, I'm afraid.

  • Very nicely done.

  • Great work Robert as always. But do you have the skill to correct Colin's blink at the end of his speach? Its the thing he beats himself up over in his first scene as the Doctor!

  • where did you get the foootage of peter davidson and colin bakers face from at 1:30.

  • well the sid shot of peter was an extra on the DVD and i made a rough side shot of colin in photoshop to match the angle

  • thanks

  • @Cyberrob How rough?

  • Much better. Planning on doing that with all the pre-New Series regenerations?

  • well i've done a fair few and i might do the rest sooner or later

  • I could'nt work out what that was at 1:30, but I do now, excellent fx there your are the best.

  • Nice work.

Though I rather liked the companions and the big purple and black vortex affect.

6th - 7th would be good, maybe it's the regeneration that knocks Mel out?

  • Am I the only one who thinks Colin Baker's first words absolutely spoil the poignancy of Davison's demise?

  • Lovely work, my son! Now do some more please. :)

  • well done, marvelous effetcs, where do you get the clear titles sequence from?

  • from one of the DVDs as a hidden Easter Egg

  • how did you copy it from the dvd?

  • absouletly fantastic work. tho i never minded the faces as such. but couldnt stand the effects. was like theyd taken a step back after logopolis. The acting was brill tho.

Now with these new effects. its perfect

  • cool

  • Marvellous, young Ritchie! Now you just have to tackle The War Games, Robot, Logopolis, Time and the Rani and the TV Movie. Ha!

  • lol i've already done Robot! get with the times.

  • Fair enough. Haha. Time and the Rani just has to be done though Rob. It has to!

  • wow!! thats some serious FX there. i wasnt keen on those faces either. they were daft.

  • Fantastic!
