Like the person says" If there were no tool and die makers, there would be no products". I believe this is very true for they are highly skilled people and really can perform miricles under a high degree of pressure. I'm just a lowly mechanic and hobby machinest so I have some idea of the accurate work and the knowledge they have to have. If it becomes factory work, start your own shop then it won't be so boring.
its still working in a damn factory. iv been there and its not natural. essential yes, someone has to do it but personaly im just not cut out for factory work.
@twist579 no i am not an idiot. i have worked in a factory and watched toolmakers. skilled as it may be it is still inside of a factory with no fucking windows a clock on and clock out time and living life around a fucking hooter that tells you when to shit piss eat start and go home. its factory work. toolmakes make the world but they live in a god damn factory. anyone who disagrees is probably a factory worker
Csabika30NY I was agreeing with you on a few things. I have watched foundries, machine shops go to hell because of china. CNC is a joke, and all jokes have a punch line. Take a college educated kid show him how to press start and away he goes, he is now a machinist. Since you are a machinist, why dont you put that to work for yourself? I make model engines and parts for gas engines. Its fun and you can make some money while at it. Sorry to hear about your job but its not the end
sadly I have to agree, but not 100%...some of the toolmakers will allways be needed, but only the top one percent or less...ud had to be a bit of a experementalist /engineerto find a future in this field now!
I have to agree with you, its not really a dying trade, the assholes just moved it to china to save a buck. Place I work for said they were doing away with the 120yr old die shop to outsource the punch and dies, very very sad. They did away with age old pass down to college trade schools and now they are doing away with everything but cnc, cant wait to see those computers fucking fry

Yup, I'm a clever man, yet I am constantly beaten down on price. Better do something / anything else!
