if you think about it the camera must be a few inches from his eyes, which can move independently of the direction that the camera is facing. so he actually follows the puck all the way to his glove for instance with his eyes, but the camera doesn't pick that up
No dude Fleury got rid of them himself. He got a note from a eye doctor from Ottawa telling him how the yellow pads gave other players an advantage on him on breakaways.
@BlitzKriege35 They still let goalies do that but Fleury was advised by a doctor while being treated for an injury that yellow is attracted to the bright color of Fleury's pads when shooting.
Definitely some great footage. too bad HD wasn't as prevalent back then. It's like cellphone quality video now lol. It's cool to see how he was in the minors and now arguably one of the top 5 goalies in the NHL
It actually looks faster in real life, I was at a camp with a few high level players (AHLers and semi-pros) and I couldn't see the puck in between their stick and the net (then again now I got glasses)
"he WAS the first to use the MODERN helmet cam that is mounted inside of the helmet itself. The old model, mounted outside of the helmet, was used by John Vanbiesbrouck in an All Star Game"
it was made by the wbs penguins for a pre-game video. they had it online, i downloaded it, and instead of storing it on my computer, i stuck it here. so its not really mine, but i wish it was.
hes wasnt the first to wear a helmet cam...unless your talking about the first to wear during that YEAR....john vanbreibruke(sp?) had a cam in his helmet as well...

was there originally audio from the game in the video?

Why do goalies do what they do at 1.30? I see all goalies do it? Is it to keep the ice smooth or something?:)
KingKonk95 1 year ago
@KingKonk95 Traction I believe. I've seen our ECHL team goalie do it, and he tears up the ice where he stands every new period.
woof422 11 months ago
@KingKonk95 They actually do not want the ice to be smooth, they want the ice to be rough so they can control themselves as they slide.

This is the coolest video, I've always wondered what the game looks like from the goalie's perspective. Fleury is definitely my favorite goalie!!!
lucysnow1851 2 years ago
he doesn't even have to look at the puck to save it.
arandomperson240 2 years ago
its a helmet cam, it doesnt pick up exactly when his eyes move so hes looking down more with his eyes

Actually the camera is outside of the mask. It's mounted on the neck of the mask. The dangler is over it.

what is he doing at 01:27 - 01:40???
Kelsey2926 4 years ago
Scratching up the ice. I do it in most rinks because otherwise if I try and slide in the crease I go way too far and fast.
